'Even' in the Bible
If you love those who love you, what reward will you have? Even the tax collectors do the same, don't they?
And if you greet only your relatives, that's no great thing you're doing, is it? Even the unbelievers do the same, don't they?
but I tell you that not even Solomon in all of his splendor was clothed like one of them.
When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and told those who were following him, "I tell all of you with certainty, not even in Israel have I found this kind of faith!
The men were amazed. "What kind of man is this?" they asked. "Even the winds and the sea obey him!"
Indeed, even the hairs on your head have all been counted!
I tell all of you with certainty, whoever gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is a disciple will never lose his reward."
Really, what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and even more than a prophet!
I tell all of you with certainty, among those born of women no one has appeared who is greater than John the Baptist. Yet even the least important person in the kingdom from heaven is greater than he.
because to anyone who has something, more will be given, and he will have more than enough. But from the one who doesn't have anything, even what he has will be taken away from him.
She said, "Yes, Lord. But even the puppies eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' tables."
When the crowd told them harshly to be silent, they shouted even louder, "Have mercy on us, Lord, Son of David!"
"Tell the daughter of Zion, "Look, your king is coming to you! He is humble and mounted on a donkey, even on a colt of a donkey.'"
Jesus told them, "I tell all of you with certainty, tax collectors and prostitutes will get into God's kingdom ahead of you! John came to you living a righteous life, and you didn't believe him, but the tax collectors and prostitutes did. But even when you saw that, you didn't change your minds at last and believe him."
because false messiahs and false prophets will appear and display great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
because to everyone who has something, more will be given, and he'll have more than enough. But from the person who has nothing, even what he has will be taken away from him.
But Peter told him, "Even if everyone else turns against you, I certainly won't!"
Peter told him, "Even if I have to die with you, I will never deny you!" And all the disciples said the same thing.
But they couldn't find any, even though many false witnesses had come forward. At last two men came forward
Trembling from fear, even the guards themselves became catatonic.
All the people were so stunned that they kept saying to each other, "What is this? A new teaching with authority! He tells even the unclean spirits what to do, and they obey him!"
Such a large crowd gathered that there wasn't room for them, even in front of the door. Jesus was speaking his message to them
Therefore, the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath."
Then he went home. Such a large crowd gathered again that Jesus and his disciples couldn't even eat.
because whoever has something, will have more given to him. But whoever has nothing, even what he has will be taken away."
Overcome with fear, they kept saying to one another, "Who is this man? Even the wind and the sea obey him!"
He lived among the tombs, and no one could restrain him any longer, not even with a chain.
He told them, "Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest for a while," because so many people were coming and going that they didn't even have time to eat.
Wherever he went, whether into villages, towns, or farms, people would place their sick in the marketplaces and beg him to let them touch even the tassel of his garment, and everyone who touched it was healed.
But she answered him, "Yes, Lord. Yet even the puppies under the table eat some of the children's crumbs."
Amazed beyond measure, they kept on saying, "He does everything well! He even makes deaf people hear and mute people talk!"
Then Jesus placed his hands on the man's eyes again, and he saw clearly. His sight was restored, and he saw everything perfectly, even from a distance.
because even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many people."
Many people sternly told him to be quiet, but he started shouting even louder, "Son of David, have mercy on me!"
But Peter told him, "Even if everyone else turns against you, I certainly won't."
But Peter kept saying emphatically, "Even if I have to die with you, I'll never deny you!" And all the others kept saying the same thing.
So he told them, "I'm deeply grieved, even to the point of death. Wait here and stay awake."
Again he came back and found them asleep, because they could not keep their eyes open. They didn't even know what they should say to him.
But even on this point their testimony didn't agree.
Some of them began to spit on him. They blindfolded him and kept hitting him with their fists and telling him, "Prophesy!" Even the servants took him and slapped him around.
But he denied it, saying, "I don't know or even understand what you're talking about!" Then he went out into the entryway. Just then a rooster crowed.
"Why?" Pilate asked them. "What has he done wrong?" But they shouted even louder, "Crucify him!"
Let the Messiah, the king of Israel, come down from the cross now, since seeing is believing!" Even the men who were crucified with him kept insulting him.
and they'll pick up snakes with their hands.Even if they drink any deadly poison, it won't hurt them, and they'll place their hands on the sick, and they'll recover."
because he will be great in the Lord's presence. He will never drink wine or any strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even before he is born.
Even some tax collectors came to be baptized. They asked him, "Teacher, what should we do?"
Even some soldiers were asking him, "And what should we do?" He told them, "Never extort money from anyone by threats or blackmail, and be satisfied with your pay."
Even demons came out of many people, screaming, "You are the Son of God!" But Jesus rebuked them and ordered them not to speak, because they knew he was the Messiah.
But the news about Jesus spread even more, and many crowds began gathering to hear him and to be healed of their diseases.
They had come to hear him and to be healed of their diseases. Even those who were being tormented by unclean spirits were being healed.
"If you love those who love you, what thanks do you deserve? Why, even sinners love those who love them.
If you do good to those who do good to you, what thanks do you deserve? Even sinners do that.
If you lend to those from whom you expect to get something back, what thanks do you deserve? Even sinners lend to sinners to get back what they lend.
Rather, love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them, expecting nothing in return. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind even to ungrateful and evil people.
When Jesus heard this, he was amazed at him. Turning to the crowd that was following him, he said, "I tell you, not even in Israel have I found this kind of faith!"
Really, what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and even more than a prophet!
I tell you, no one has ever been born who is greater than John. Yet even the least important person in the kingdom of God is greater than he."
Those who were at the table with them began to say among themselves, "Who is this man who even forgives sins?"
So pay attention to how you listen, because to the one who has something, more will be given. However, from the one who doesn't have, even what he thinks he has will be taken away from him."
Then he asked the disciples, "Where's your faith?" Frightened and amazed, they asked one another, "Who is this man? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him!"
He told them, "Don't take anything along on your trip no walking stick, traveling bag, bread, money, or even an extra shirt.
Even while the boy was coming, the demon knocked him to the ground and threw him into convulsions. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the boy, and gave him back to his father.
The 70 disciples came back and joyously reported, "Lord, even the demons are submitting to us in your name!"
I tell you, even though that man doesn't want to get up and give him anything because he is his friend, he will get up and give him whatever he needs because of his persistence.
Jesus said, "How terrible it will be for you experts in the Law, too! You load people with burdens that are hard to carry, yet you don't even lift a finger to ease those burdens.
Why, even all the hairs on your head have been counted! Stop being afraid. You are worth more than a bunch of sparrows."
Consider the crows. They don't plant or harvest, they don't even have a storeroom or barn, yet God feeds them. How much more valuable are you than birds!
Consider how the lilies grow. They don't work or spin yarn, but I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was clothed like one of them.
But the servant who did things that deserved a beating without knowing it will receive a light beating. Much will be required from everyone to whom much has been given. But even more will be demanded from the one to whom much has been entrusted."
Even as he was saying this, all of his opponents were blushing with shame. But the rest of the crowd was rejoicing at all the wonderful things he was doing.
No one would give him anything, even though he would gladly have filled himself with the husks the pigs were eating.
He was always trying to satisfy his hunger with what fell from the rich man's table. Even the dogs used to come and lick his sores.
"Then Abraham told him, "If your brothers do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded, even if someone were to rise from the dead.'"
Even if he sins against you seven times in a day and comes back to you seven times and says, "I repent,' you must forgive him."
The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed, "O God, I thank you that I'm not like other people thieves, dishonest people, adulterers, or even this tax collector.
"But the tax collector stood at a distance and would not even look up to heaven. Instead, he continued to beat his chest and said, "O God, be merciful to me, the sinner that I am!'
Now some people were even bringing their infants to Jesus to have him touch them. But when the disciples saw this, they sternly told the people not to do that.
The people at the front of the crowd sternly told him to be quiet, but he started shouting even louder, "Son of David, have mercy on me!"
"I tell you, to everyone who has something, more will be given, but from the person who has nothing, even what he has will be taken away.
Even Moses demonstrated in the story about the bush that the dead are raised, when he calls the Lord, "the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.'
You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends, and they will put some of you to death.
Peter told him, "Lord, I am ready to go even to prison and to die with you!"
Even Herod and his soldiers treated him with contempt and made fun of him. He put a magnificent robe on Jesus and sent him back to Pilate.
Even some of our women have startled us by what they told us. They were at the tomb early this morning
Even though they were still skeptical due to their joy and astonishment, Jesus asked them, "Do you have anything here to eat?"
The Father loves the Son and shows him everything he is doing, and he will show him even greater actions than these, so that you may be amazed.
Now he was speaking about Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, because this man was going to betray him, even though he was one of the Twelve.
Not even his brothers believed in him.
Jesus answered them, "Even though I'm testifying about myself, my testimony is valid because I know where I've come from and where I'm going. But you don't know where I come from or where I'm going.
Yet even if I should judge, my judgment would be valid, because it is not I alone who judges, but I and the one who sent me.
Then the Jewish leaders asked him, "You are not even 50 years old, yet you have seen Abraham?"
But if I'm doing them, even though you don't believe me, believe the actions, so that you may know and understand that the Father is in me and I am in the Father."
But even now I know that whatever you ask of God, he will give it to you."
Jesus told her, "I am the resurrection and the life. The person who believes in me, even though he dies, will live.
Yet many people, even some of the authorities, believed in him, but because of the Pharisees they did not admit it so they would not be thrown out of the synagogue.
Truly, I tell all of you emphatically, the one who believes in me will also do what I'm doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I'm going to the Father.
When Pilate heard this, he became even more afraid.
A week later, his disciples were again inside, and Thomas was with them. Even though the doors were shut, Jesus came, stood among them, and said, "Peace be with you."
In those days I will even pour out my Spirit on my slaves, men and women alike, and they will prophesy.
