'One' in the Bible

For he is the one spoken of through the prophet Isaiah, who said:A voice of one crying out in the wilderness:Prepare the way for the Lord;make His paths straight!

No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket, but rather on a lampstand, and it gives light for all who are in the house.

Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commands and teaches people to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of the parts of your body than for your whole body to go into hell!

As for the one who wants to sue you and take away your shirt, let him have your coat as well.

For everyone who asks receives, and the one who searches finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

For I too am a man under authority, having soldiers under my command. I say to this one, ‘Go!’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come!’ and he comes; and to my slave, ‘Do this!’ and he does it.”

When He had come to the other side, to the region of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men met Him as they came out of the tombs. They were so violent that no one could pass that way.

No one patches an old garment with unshrunk cloth, because the patch pulls away from the garment and makes the tear worse.

And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the skins burst, the wine spills out, and the skins are ruined. But they put new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved.”

As He was telling them these things, suddenly one of the leaders came and knelt down before Him, saying, “My daughter is near death, but come and lay Your hand on her, and she will live.”

And their eyes were opened. Then Jesus warned them sternly, “Be sure that no one finds out!”

When they persecute you in one town, escape to another. For I assure you: You will not have covered the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.

And whoever gives just a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is a disciple—I assure you: He will never lose his reward!”

and asked Him, “Are You the One who is to come, or should we expect someone else?”

“I assure you: Among those born of women no one greater than John the Baptist has appeared, but the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

He will not argue or shout,and no one will hear His voice in the streets.

Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him. But whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the one to come.

But He replied to the one who told Him, “Who is My mother and who are My brothers?”

And the one sown on rocky ground—this is one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy.

But the one sown on the good ground—this is one who hears and understands the word, who does bear fruit and yields: some 100, some 60, some 30 times what was sown.”

When he found one priceless pearl, he went and sold everything he had, and bought it.

And they said, “Some say John the Baptist; others, Elijah; still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

And He gave the disciples orders to tell no one that He was the Messiah.

Then Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it’s good for us to be here! If You want, I will make three tabernacles here: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”

When they looked up they saw no one except Him—Jesus alone.

And if your eye causes your downfall, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye, rather than to have two eyes and be thrown into hellfire!

When he began to settle accounts, one who owed 10,000 talents was brought before him.

“But that slave went out and found one of his fellow slaves who owed him 100 denarii. He grabbed him, started choking him, and said, ‘Pay what you owe!’

After agreeing with the workers on one denarius for the day, he sent them into his vineyard.

“‘Because no one hired us,’ they said to him.“‘You also go to my vineyard,’ he told them.

“When those who were hired about five came, they each received one denarius.

“He replied to one of them, ‘Friend, I’m doing you no wrong. Didn’t you agree with me on a denarius?

“What do you want?” He asked her.“Promise,” she said to Him, “that these two sons of mine may sit, one on Your right and the other on Your left, in Your kingdom.”

Jesus answered them, “I will also ask you one question, and if you answer it for Me, then I will tell you by what authority I do these things.

But the farmers took his slaves, beat one, killed another, and stoned a third.

“But they paid no attention and went away, one to his own farm, another to his business.

They sent their disciples to Him, with the Herodians. “Teacher,” they said, “we know that You are truthful and teach truthfully the way of God. You defer to no one, for You don’t show partiality.

And one of them, an expert in the law, asked a question to test Him:

No one was able to answer Him at all, and from that day no one dared to question Him anymore.

“But as for you, do not be called ‘Rabbi,’ because you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers.

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to make one proselyte, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as fit for hell as you are!

Therefore, the one who takes an oath by the altar takes an oath by it and by everything on it.

The one who takes an oath by the sanctuary takes an oath by it and by Him who dwells in it.

And the one who takes an oath by heaven takes an oath by God’s throne and by Him who sits on it.

Then He replied to them, “Don’t you see all these things? I assure you: Not one stone will be left here on another that will not be thrown down!”

To one he gave five talents; to another, two; and to another, one—to each according to his own ability. Then he went on a journey. Immediately

But the man who had received one talent went off, dug a hole in the ground, and hid his master’s money.

“Then the man who had received one talent also approached and said, ‘Master, I know you. You’re a difficult man, reaping where you haven’t sown and gathering where you haven’t scattered seed.

For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have more than enough. But from the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.

“Then He will answer them, ‘I assure you: Whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for Me either.’

Then one of the Twelve—the man called Judas Iscariot—went to the chief priests

He replied, “The one who dipped his hand with Me in the bowl—he will betray Me.
