God's Discipline And Israel's Apostasy

⁹ I struck you with scorching and mildew. The caterpillar has devoured the multitudes of your gardens, your vineyards, your fig trees and your olive-trees. Yet you have not returned to me, said Jehovah. ¹⁰ “I sent a plague among you after the manner of Egypt;
I slew your young men by the sword along with your captured horses,
And I made the stench of your camp rise up in your nostrils;
Yet you have not returned to Me,” declares the Lord.
¹¹ I overthrew your cities as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. You were like a burning stick plucked out of the fire. Yet you have not returned to me, said Jehovah.

Jeremiah 11:22

This is what Jehovah of Hosts says: I am going to punish them. The young men will die by the sword because of war. Their sons and daughters will die by famine.

Amos 4:6

Exodus 8:19

I will make him stubborn. He will pursue you. My victory over the king and his army will bring me honor. Then the Egyptians will know that I am Jehovah! The Israelites did as they were told.

He said: If you will listen carefully to Jehovah your God and do what he considers right, if you pay attention to his commands and obey all his laws, I will never make you suffer any of the diseases I made the Egyptians suffer. I am Jehovah, who heals you.

Leviticus 26:16

then this is what I will do to you: I will terrorize you with disease and fever. You will suffer from eye problems and depression. You will plant your crops and get nothing because your enemies will eat them.

Deuteronomy 7:15

Jehovah will take away every sickness from you. He will not afflict you with any of the evil diseases of Egypt, which you have known. He will put them on all who hate you.

Deuteronomy 28:22

Jehovah will strike you with infectious diseases, with swelling and fever. He will send drought and scorching winds to destroy your crops. These disasters will be with you until you die.

Deuteronomy 28:26-27

Your body will be food to all birds of the air, and to the beasts of the earth. And no man shall frighten them away.

2 Kings 8:12

Why are you crying? Hazael asked. Because I know the horrible things you will do against the people of Israel, Elisha answered. You will burn their fortresses, slaughter their finest young men, batter their children to death, and rip open their pregnant women.

Jehovah began to reduce the size of Israel's territory. King Hazael of Syria conquered all the Israelite territory

Psalm 78:49-50

He sent his fierce burning anger, his rage and fury against them. He sent an army of destroying angels.

The people did not turn back to him who struck them, or seek Jehovah of Hosts.

Jeremiah 6:11

I am full of the wrath of Jehovah. I am weary with holding it in. Pour it out on the children in the street and on the gathering of young men together. For both husband and wife will be taken, the aged and the very old.

Jeremiah 8:1-2

Jehovah says: At that time the bones of the kings and the leaders of Judah, the bones of the priests and the prophets, and the bones of the others who lived in Jerusalem will be taken out of their graves.

Jeremiah 9:22

This is what Jehovah says: Dead bodies will fall like manure on the field. They will be like grain that has been cut but not gathered.'

Jeremiah 15:3

I will appoint over them four kinds of punishment, declares Jehovah. I will send swords to kill, dogs to drag away, and birds of the air and animals of the earth to devour and destroy.

Jeremiah 16:4

They will die of lethal diseases. They will not be mourned or buried. They will be as dung on the surface of the ground and die by sword and famine (war and starvation). Their carcasses will become food for the birds of the sky and for the animals of the earth.

Amos 8:3

The songs of the Temple will be weeping in that day, said the Lord Jehovah: the dead bodies shall be many. They will observe silence in every place.
