Daniel's Prayer For His People

⁴ I prayed to the Lord my God and confessed:

Ah, Lord—the great and awe-inspiring God who keeps His gracious covenant with those who love Him and keep His commands— ⁵ we have sinned, done wrong, acted wickedly, rebelled, and turned away from Your commands and ordinances. ⁶ We have not listened to Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our kings, leaders, fathers, and all the people of the land.

Both we and our fathers have sinned;
we have done wrong and have acted wickedly.

Go and marry a promiscuous wife

for the land is committing blatant acts of promiscuity
by abandoning the Lord.

“Since the days of your fathers, you have turned from My statutes; you have not kept them. Return to Me, and I will return to you,” says the Lord of Hosts.

But you ask: “How can we return?”
