9 And you saw that the breachesIn the wall of the city of David were many; And you (N)collected the waters of the lower pool.

9 You saw that there were many breaches in the walls of the city of David.(I) You collected water from the lower pool.(J)

10 The houses of Jerusalem ye numbered, and ye will break down the houses to fortify the wall.

10 And ye have numbered the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses have ye broken down to fortify the wall.

10 Then you counted the houses of JerusalemAnd tore down houses to fortify the wall.

10 You counted the houses of Jerusalem so that you could tear them down to fortify the wall.

10 counted the houses of Jerusalem, tore down certain houses to strengthen the wall,

11 And ye made a gathering place between the two walls for the water of the old pool; and ye looked not to him making it, and ye saw not him forming it from far off.

11 Ye made also a ditch between the two walls for the water of the old pool: but ye have not looked unto the maker thereof, neither had respect unto him that fashioned it long ago.

11 And you made a reservoir (O)between the two wallsFor the waters of the (P)old pool. But you did not (k)depend on Him who made it,Nor did you (l)take into consideration Him who planned it long ago.

13 And behold joy and gladness, slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine: let us eat and drink; for to morrow we shall die.

13 Instead, there is (S)gaiety and gladness,Killing of cattle and slaughtering of sheep,Eating of meat and drinking of wine:(T)Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we may die.”

13 But look: joy and gladness, butchering of cattle, slaughtering of sheep, eating of meat, and drinking of wine—“Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!”(N)

16 What hast thou here? and whom hast thou here, that thou hast hewed thee out a sepulchre here, as he that heweth him out a sepulchre on high, and that graveth an habitation for himself in a rock?

16 What are you doing here? Who authorized you to carve out a tomb for yourself here, carving your tomb on the height and cutting a crypt for yourself out of rock?(R)

16 "Come, go to this steward, to Shebna who is in charge of the household, and ask him: "What are you doing here, and who are your relatives here that you could carve out a grave for yourself here cutting out a tomb at the choicest location, chiseling out a resting place for yourself out of solid rock?

17 Behold, Jehovah casting thee down, the casting down of a man, and covering, he covered thee.

17 Behold, the LORD will carry thee away with a mighty captivity, and will surely cover thee.

17 ‘Behold, the Lord is about to hurl you headlong, O man.And He is about to grasp you firmly

17 Look, you strong man! The Lord is about to shake you violently. He will take hold of you,

18 Rolling, he will roll thee a roll as a ball into a land broad of hands: there shalt thou die, and there the chariots of thy glory the dishonor of thy lord's house.

18 He will surely violently turn and toss thee like a ball into a large country: there shalt thou die, and there the chariots of thy glory shall be the shame of thy lord's house.

18 And roll you tightly like a ball,To be (Z)cast into a vast country; There you will dieAnd there your splendid chariots will be,You shame of your master’s house.’

18 wind you up into a ball, and sling you into a wide land.(e) There you will die, and there your glorious chariots will be—a disgrace to the house of your lord.

18 rolling you up tightly like a ball and throwing you into a large country. There you will die, and there your splendid chariots will lie. You're a disgrace to your master's house!

19 And I thrust thee from thy station, and from thy standing place he will pull thee down.

19 And I will drive thee from thy station, and from thy state shall he pull thee down.

19 “I will (AA)depose you from your office,And (s)I will pull you down from your station.

19 I will remove you from your office; you will be ousted from your position.

19 I will depose you from your office, ousting you from your position.

20 And it was in that day I called for my servant, for Eliakim, son of Hilkiah:

20 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah:

20 “Then it will come about in that day,That I will summon My servant (AB)Eliakim the son of Hilkiah,

20 “On that day I will call for my servant, Eliakim son of Hilkiah.(S)

20 "At that time, I'll call for my servant, Hilkiah's son Eliakim,

21 And I will clothe him with thy tunic, and I will strengthen him with thy girdle, and I will give thy dominion into his hand, and he was for a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the house of Judah.

21 And I will clothe him with thy robe, and strengthen him with thy girdle, and I will commit thy government into his hand: and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah.

21 And I will clothe him with your tunicAnd tie your sash securely about him.I will entrust him with your (t)authority,And he will become a (AC)father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the house of Judah.

21 I will clothe him with your robe and tie your sash around him. I will put your authority into his hand, and he will be like a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the House of Judah.(T)

21 and I'll clothe him with your robe and fasten your sash around him. I'll transfer your authority to him, and he'll be a father to those who live in Jerusalem and to the house of Judah.

22 And I gave the key of the house of David upon his shoulder, and he opened and none shut, and he shut and none opened.

22 And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.

22 “Then I will set (AD)the key of the (AE)house of David on his shoulder,When he opens no one will shut,When he shuts no one will (AF)open.

22 I will place the key(U) of the House of David on his shoulder; what he opens, no one can close; what he closes, no one can open.(V)

22 "I'll place on his shoulder the key to the house of David what he opens, no one will shut, and what he shuts, no one will open.

23 And I fastened him a peg in a faithful place; and he. was for a throne of glory to his father's house.

23 And I will fasten him as a nail in a sure place; and he shall be for a glorious throne to his father's house.

23 “I will drive him like a (AG)peg in a firm place,And he will become a (AH)throne of glory to his father’s house.

23 I will drive him, like a peg, into a firm place. He will be a throne of honor for his father’s house.

23 I'll set him like a peg into a secure place; he will become a throne of honor to his father's house.

24 And they hung upon him all the glory of his father's house, the offspring and the sprouts, all the vessels of smallness, from the vessels of lavers and even to all the vessels of flasks.

24 And they shall hang upon him all the glory of his father's house, the offspring and the issue, all vessels of small quantity, from the vessels of cups, even to all the vessels of flagons.

24 So they will hang on him all the glory of his father’s house, offspring and (u)issue, all the least of vessels, from bowls to all the jars.

24 They will hang on him the whole burden of his father’s house: the descendants and the offshoots—all the small vessels, from bowls to every kind of jar.

24 The entire reputation of his father's house will hang on him: its offspring and offshoots all its smaller vessels, from the cups to all the jars.

25 In that day, says Jehovah of armies, shall the peg fastened in a faithful place give way, and it was cut down, and it fell; and the lifting up which was upon it was cut off: for Jehovah spake.

25 In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, shall the nail that is fastened in the sure place be removed, and be cut down, and fall; and the burden that was upon it shall be cut off: for the LORD hath spoken it.

25 In that day,” declares the Lord of hosts, “the (AI)peg driven in a firm place will give way; it will even (AJ)break off and fall, and the load hanging on it will be cut off, for the (AK)Lord has spoken.”

25 On that day”—the declaration of the Lord of Hosts—“the peg that was driven into a firm place will give way, be cut off, and fall, and the load on it will be destroyed.” Indeed, the Lord has spoken.

25 At that time," declares the LORD of the Heavenly Armies, "the peg that was driven into a secure place will give way; it will be sheared and will fall, and the load hanging on it will be cut down." The LORD has spoken.
