1 "I made myself available to those who did not ask for me; I appeared to those who did not look for me. I said, 'Here I am! Here I am!' to a nation that did not invoke my name.
1 “I permitted Myself to be sought by (A)those who did not ask for Me;I permitted Myself to be found by those who did not seek Me.I said, ‘Here am I, here am I,’To a nation which (B)did not call on My name.
1 I am sought of them that asked not for me; I am found of them that sought me not: I said, Behold me, behold me, unto a nation that was not called by my name.
1 "I let myself be sought by those who didn't ask for me; I let myself be found by those who didn't seek me. I said, "Here I am! Here I am!' to a nation that didn't call on my name.
2 I spread out my hands all day long to my rebellious people, who lived in a way that is morally unacceptable, and who did what they desired.
2 I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts;
2 I held out my hands all day long to a disobedient people, who walk in a way that isn't good, following their own inclinations
3 These people continually and blatantly offend me as they sacrifice in their sacred orchards and burn incense on brick altars.
3 A people that provoketh me to anger continually to my face; that sacrificeth in gardens, and burneth incense upon altars of brick;
3 a people who continually provoke me to my face; they keep sacrificing in gardens and waving their hands over stone altars;
4 They sit among the tombs and keep watch all night long. They eat pork, and broth from unclean sacrificial meat is in their pans.
4 Which remain among the graves, and lodge in the monuments, which eat swine's flesh, and broth of abominable things is in their vessels;
4 who sit among graves, and spend the night in secret places; who eat pigs' meat, with the broth of detestable things in their pots;
5 They say, 'Keep to yourself! Don't get near me, for I am holier than you!' These people are like smoke in my nostrils, like a fire that keeps burning all day long.
5 Which say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day.
5 They say, ‘Keep to yourself,don’t come near me, for I am too holy for you!’These practices are smoke in My nostrils,a fire that burns all day long.
5 who say, "Keep to yourself!' "Don't touch me!' and "I am too holy for you!' "Such people are smoke in my nostrils, a fire that keeps burning all day long.
6 Look, I have decreed: I will not keep silent, but will pay them back; I will pay them back exactly what they deserve,
6 Behold, it is written before me: I will not keep silence, but will recompense, even recompense into their bosom,
6 Watch out! It stands written before me: "I won't keep silent, but I will pay back in full; I'll indeed repay into their laps
7 for your sins and your ancestors' sins," says the Lord. "Because they burned incense on the mountains and offended me on the hills, I will punish them in full measure."
7 Both (c)their own (M)iniquities and the iniquities of their fathers together,” says the Lord.“Because they have (N)burned incense on the mountainsAnd (O)scorned Me on the hills,Therefore I will (P)measure their former work into their bosom.”
7 Your iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together, saith the LORD, which have burned incense upon the mountains, and blasphemed me upon the hills: therefore will I measure their former work into their bosom.
7 for your iniquities and the iniquities(G)of your(e) fathers together,”says the Lord.“Because they burned incense on the mountainsand reproached Me on the hills,(H)I will reward them fully(f)for their former deeds.”
7 both your iniquities and your ancestors' iniquities together,'' says the LORD. "Because they offered incense on the mountains and insulted me on hills, I'll measure into their laps full payment for their earlier actions."
8 This is what the Lord says: "When juice is discovered in a cluster of grapes, someone says, 'Don't destroy it, for it contains juice.' So I will do for the sake of my servants -- I will not destroy everyone.
8 Thus says the Lord,“As the new wine is found in the cluster,And one says, ‘Do not destroy it, for there is (d)benefit in it,’So I will act on behalf of My servantsIn order (Q)not to destroy (e)all of them.
8 Thus saith the LORD, As the new wine is found in the cluster, and one saith, Destroy it not; for a blessing is in it: so will I do for my servants' sakes, that I may not destroy them all.
8 This is what the LORD says: "Just as new wine is found in the cluster, and people have said, "Don't destroy it, for there is a gift in it,' so I'll act for my servants' sake, by not destroying them all.
9 I will bring forth descendants from Jacob, and from Judah people to take possession of my mountains. My chosen ones will take possession of the land; my servants will live there.
9 And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah an inheritor of my mountains: and mine elect shall inherit it, and my servants shall dwell there.
9 I'll bring forth descendants from Jacob, and from Judah they will inherit my mountains; my chosen people will inherit it, and my servants will live there.
10 Sharon will become a pasture for sheep, and the Valley of Achor a place where cattle graze; they will belong to my people, who seek me.
10 And Sharon shall be a fold of flocks, and the valley of Achor a place for the herds to lie down in, for my people that have sought me.
10 Sharon will become a pasture for flocks, and the Valley of Achor a fold for herds, for my people who have sought me.
11 But as for you who abandon the Lord and forget about worshiping at my holy mountain, who prepare a feast for the god called 'Fortune,' and fill up wine jugs for the god called 'Destiny' --
11 But ye are they that forsake the LORD, that forget my holy mountain, that prepare a table for that troop, and that furnish the drink offering unto that number.
11 But as for you who forsake the LORD, who forget my holy mountain, who spread a table for Fortune and fill drink offerings for Destiny,
12 I predestine you to die by the sword, all of you will kneel down at the slaughtering block, because I called to you, and you did not respond, I spoke and you did not listen. You did evil before me; you chose to do what displeases me."
12 I will destine you for the (AA)sword,And all of you will bow down to the (AB)slaughter.Because I called, but you (AC)did not answer;I spoke, but you did not hear.And you did evil in My sightAnd chose that in which I did not delight.”
12 Therefore will I number you to the sword, and ye shall all bow down to the slaughter: because when I called, ye did not answer; when I spake, ye did not hear; but did evil before mine eyes, and did choose that wherein I delighted not.
12 I will destine you for the sword,and all of you will kneel down to be slaughtered,because I called and you did not answer,I spoke and you did not hear;you did what was evil in My sightand chose what I did not delight in.(O)
12 I'll consign you to the sword, and all of you will bend down for the slaughter because when I called, you didn't answer, when I spoke, you didn't listen; but you did what was evil in my sight, and chose what I took no pleasure in."
13 So this is what the sovereign Lord says: "Look, my servants will eat, but you will be hungry! Look, my servants will drink, but you will be thirsty! Look, my servants will rejoice, but you will be humiliated!
13 Therefore, thus says the Lord (h)God,“Behold, My servants will (AD)eat, but you will be (AE)hungry.Behold, My servants will (AF)drink, but you will be (AG)thirsty.Behold, My servants will (AH)rejoice, but you will be (AI)put to shame.
13 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, my servants shall eat, but ye shall be hungry: behold, my servants shall drink, but ye shall be thirsty: behold, my servants shall rejoice, but ye shall be ashamed:
13 Therefore, this is what the Lord God says:My servants will eat,but you will be hungry;My servants will drink,but you will be thirsty;My servants will rejoice,but you will be put to shame.
13 Therefore, this is what the LORD says: "See, my servants will eat, but you'll go hungry; my servants will drink, but you'll go thirsty; my servants will rejoice, but you'll be put to shame.
14 Look, my servants will shout for joy as happiness fills their hearts! But you will cry out as sorrow fills your hearts; you will wail because your spirits will be crushed.
14 Behold, my servants shall sing for joy of heart, but ye shall cry for sorrow of heart, and shall howl for vexation of spirit.
14 My servants will shout for joy from a glad heart,but you will cry out from an anguished heart,and you will lament out of a broken spirit.
14 My servants will sing in gladness of heart, but you'll cry for help from anguish of heart, and you'll howl from brokenness of spirit.
15 Your names will live on in the curse formulas of my chosen ones. The sovereign Lord will kill you, but he will give his servants another name.
15 And ye shall leave your name for a curse unto my chosen: for the Lord GOD shall slay thee, and call his servants by another name:
15 You'll leave your name to my chosen ones as a curse, and the Lord GOD will put you to death permanently.
16 Whoever pronounces a blessing in the earth will do so in the name of the faithful God; whoever makes an oath in the earth will do so in the name of the faithful God. For past problems will be forgotten; I will no longer think about them.
16 “Because he who (l)is blessed in the earthWill (m)be blessed by the (AN)God of truth;And he who swears in the earthWill (AO)swear by the God of truth;Because the former troubles are forgotten,And because they are hidden from My sight!
16 That he who blesseth himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; and he that sweareth in the earth shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hid from mine eyes.
16 Then whoever takes an oath by the God of faithfulness, and whoever takes an oath in the land, will swear by the God of faithfulness, because the former troubles are forgotten and are hidden from my eyes.
17 For look, I am ready to create new heavens and a new earth! The former ones will not be remembered; no one will think about them anymore.
17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.
17 Take notice! I'm about to create new heavens and a new earth; the former things won't be remembered, nor will they come to mind.
18 But be happy and rejoice forevermore over what I am about to create! For look, I am ready to create Jerusalem to be a source of joy, and her people to be a source of happiness.
18 But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy.
18 Then be glad and rejoice foreverin what I am creating;for I will create Jerusalem to be a joyand its people to be a delight.
18 But be glad and rejoice forever in what I am creating, for I am about to create Jerusalem as a joy, and its people as a delight.
19 Jerusalem will bring me joy, and my people will bring me happiness. The sound of weeping or cries of sorrow will never be heard in her again.
19 And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying.
19 I'll rejoice over Jerusalem, and take delight in my people; no longer will the sound of weeping be heard in it, nor the cry of distress.
20 Never again will one of her infants live just a few days or an old man die before his time. Indeed, no one will die before the age of a hundred, anyone who fails to reach the age of a hundred will be considered cursed.
20 “No longer will there be (o)in it an infant who lives but a few days,Or an old man who does (AU)not (p)live out his days;For the youth will die at the age of one hundredAnd the (q)(AV)one who does not reach the age of one hundredWill be thought accursed.
20 There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed.
20 In her, a nursing infant will no longer liveonly a few days,(i)or an old man not live out his days.Indeed, the youth will die at a hundred years,and the one who misses a hundred years will be cursed.(U)
20 "And there will no longer be in it a young boy who lives only a few days, or an old person who does not live out his days; for one who dies at a hundred years will be thought a mere youth, and one who falls short of a hundred years will be considered accursed.
21 They will build houses and live in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
21 And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them.
21 People will build houses and live in them; They'll plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
22 No longer will they build a house only to have another live in it, or plant a vineyard only to have another eat its fruit, for my people will live as long as trees, and my chosen ones will enjoy to the fullest what they have produced.
22 “They will not build and (AY)another inhabit,They will not plant and another eat;For (AZ)as the (r)lifetime of a tree, so will be the days of My people,And My chosen ones will (BA)wear out the work of their hands.
22 They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.
22 They won't build for others to inhabit; they won't plant for others to eat for like the lifetime of a tree, so will the lifetime of my people be, and my chosen ones will long enjoy the work of their hands.
23 They will not work in vain, or give birth to children that will experience disaster. For the Lord will bless their children and their descendants.
23 They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them.
23 They won't toil in vain nor bear children doomed to misfortune, for they will be offspring blessed by the LORD, they and their descendants with them.
24 Before they even call out, I will respond; while they are still speaking, I will hear.
24 And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.
24 Before they call, I will answer, while they are still speaking, I'll hear.
25 A wolf and a lamb will graze together; a lion, like an ox, will eat straw, and a snake's food will be dirt. They will no longer injure or destroy on my entire royal mountain," says the Lord.
25 The (BE)wolf and the lamb will graze together, and the (BF)lion will eat straw like the ox; and (BG)dust will be the serpent’s food. They will (BH)do no evil or harm in all My (BI)holy mountain,” says the Lord.
25 The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.
25 The wolf and the lamb will feed together,(j)and the lion will eat straw like the ox,(AA)but the serpent’s food will be dust!(AB)They will not do what is evil or destroyon My entire holy mountain,”(AC)says the Lord.
25 "The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox; but as for the serpent its food will be dust! They won't harm or destroy on my entire holy mountain," says the LORD.
