⁴ Listen to the word of Jehovah, offspring of Jacob, all the families in the house of Israel. ⁵ Thus says the Lord,
“What injustice did your fathers find in Me,
That they went far from Me
And walked after emptiness and became empty?
⁶ They did not ask: 'Where is Jehovah who brought us from Egypt? He led us through the desert, through a wasteland and its pits, a land of drought and the shadow of death. No one lives there or travels there.'

Worthless Idols

This Is What The Lord Says

Jehovah

2 Kings 17:15

They refused to obey his instructions. They did not keep the covenant he made with their ancestors. They disregarded his warnings. They worshiped worthless idols and became worthless themselves. They followed the customs of the surrounding nations, disobeying Jehovah's command not to imitate them.

Romans 1:21

for when they knew God, they did not glorify him as God. They did not thank him and were vain in their reasoning, for their foolish hearts were darkened.

Deuteronomy 32:21

They made him furious because they worshiped foreign gods. They angered him because they worshiped worthless idols. So I will use those who are not my people to make them jealous and a nation of godless fools to make them angry.

1 Samuel 12:21

Do not go after false gods and empty things. They cannot help you or save you. They are useless.
