Jeremiah Is Thrown Into The Pit Of Malchiah

⁵ Zedekiah the king answered and said, "Lo, he is in your hands, for the king may deny you nothing." ⁶ Then took they Jeremiah, and cast him into the dungeon of Malchiah the son of Hammelech, that dwelt in the fore entry of the prison. And they let down Jeremiah with cords into a dungeon, where there was no water, but mire. ⁷ So Jeremiah stuck fast in the mire. Now when Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, being a chamberlain in the king's court, understood that they had cast Jeremiah in to the dungeon:

Jeremiah 37:16

Thus was Jeremiah put into the dungeon and prison, and so lay there a long time.

Jeremiah 37:21

Then Zedekiah the king commanded to put Jeremiah in the fore entry of the prison, and daily to be given him a cake of bread of the bakers' street, until all the bread in the city was eaten up. Thus Jeremiah remained in the fore entry of the prison.
