Warning Against Hypocrisy
1 In the mean time thousands of people being gather'd about him, so as to trample upon one another, he first address'd himself thus to his disciples, beware of the corrupt doctrine of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
1 In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
1 Under these circumstances, after (a)so many thousands of (b)people had gathered together that they were stepping on one another, He began saying to His disciples first of all, “(A)Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
1 In these circumstances,(a) a crowd of many thousands came together, so that they were trampling(A) on one another. He began to say to His disciples first:(B) “Be on your guard(C) against the yeast(b)(D) of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.(E)
1 Meanwhile, the people had gathered by the thousands and were trampling on one another. Jesus began to speak first to his disciples. "Watch out for the yeast that is, the hypocrisy of the Pharisees!
2 for there is nothing conceal'd, which shall not be disclos'd; nothing secret, which shall not be made publick.
2 For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.
2 There is nothing covered up that won't be exposed and nothing secret that won't be made known.
3 whatever you have utter'd in the dark, shall be brought to light: and what you have whisper'd in a closet, shall be proclaim'd upon the house top.
3 Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.
3 Accordingly, whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have (c)whispered in the inner rooms will be proclaimed upon (C)the housetops.
3 Therefore, whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in an ear in private rooms(H) will be proclaimed on the housetops.(I)
3 Therefore, what you have said in darkness will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in private rooms will be shouted from the housetops."
Fear God Rather Than People
4 As for you, my friends, be not afraid of those, who can kill the body, and after that can effect nothing more.
4 And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
4 “I say to you, (D)My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that have no more that they can do.
4 “And I say to you, My friends,(J) don’t fear(K) those who kill the body, and after that can do nothing more.
4 "But I tell you, my friends, never be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can't do anything more.
5 but I will inform you whom you should fear: fear him, who after he has kill'd, has power to precipitate into hell; yes, I advise you, fear him.
5 But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
5 But I will (d)warn you whom to fear: (E)fear the One who, after He has killed, has authority to cast into (e)(F)hell; yes, I tell you, fear Him!
5 But I will show you the One to fear: Fear(L) Him who has authority to throw people into hell(M) after death. Yes, I say to you, this is the One to fear!
5 I'll show you the one you should be afraid of. Be afraid of the one who has the authority to throw you into hell after killing you. Yes, I tell you, be afraid of him!
7 nay, the very hairs of your head can't fall without being number'd: be not then afraid; there is no comparison between you and sparrows.
7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.
7 (H)Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows.
7 Indeed, the hairs of your head are all counted. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows!
7 Why, even all the hairs on your head have been counted! Stop being afraid. You are worth more than a bunch of sparrows."
Acknowledgement Of Christ And Persecution Of Disciples
8 moreover I declare unto you, whoever shall acknowledge me before men, him shall the son of man also own before the angels of God.
8 Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:
8 “And I say to you, everyone who (I)confesses Me before men, the Son of Man will confess him also before the angels of God;
8 “And I say to you, anyone who acknowledges(O) Me before men, the Son of Man(P) will also acknowledge him before the angels of God,(Q)
8 "But I tell you, the Son of Man will acknowledge before God's angels everyone who acknowledges me before people.
10 and whoever shall cast a reflection upon the son of man, it shall be forgiven him; but as for him, that shall blaspheme the holy spirit, it shall not be forgiven.
10 And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.
10 (L)And everyone who (g)speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him.
10 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven,(S) but the one who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit(T) will not be forgiven.
10 Everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but the person who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit won't be forgiven.
11 when you are brought into the synagogues, and before magistrates and rulers, be not sollicitous what to say in your own defence;

11 When they bring you before (M)the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not (N)worry about how or what you are to speak in your defense, or what you are to say;
11 Whenever(U) they bring you before synagogues and rulers and authorities,(V) don’t worry(W) about how you should defend(X) yourselves or what you should say.
11 When people bring you before synagogue leaders, rulers, or authorities, don't worry about how you will defend yourselves or what you will say,
The Parable Of The Rich Landowner Who Was A Fool
13 Then one of the company said to him, order my brother to give me my share of our inheritance.
13 And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me.
13 Someone (h)in the crowd said to Him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the family inheritance with me.”
13 Someone from the crowd said to Him, “Teacher,(Z) tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.”
13 Then someone in the crowd told him, "Teacher, tell my brother to divide the family inheritance with me."
15 then he said to them, take care to be clear of all avarice: for the enjoyment of life does not depend upon the having large possessions.
15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
15 Then He said to them, “(Q)Beware, and be on your guard against every form of greed; for not even when one has an abundance does his life consist of his possessions.”
15 He then told them, “Watch out and be on guard(AA) against all greed(AB) because one’s life is not in the abundance of his possessions.”(AC)
15 Then he told them, "Be careful to guard yourselves against every kind of greed, because a person's life doesn't consist of the amount of possessions he has."
16 to which purpose he propos'd to them this parable: a rich man had some land that was very fruitful.
16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:
16 And He told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man was very productive.
16 Then he told them a parable. He said, "The land of a certain rich man produced good crops.
17 and thus he reason'd with himself, what shall I do for want of room to store up my crop?
17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
17 And he began reasoning to himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no place to store my crops?’
17 He thought to himself, ‘What should I do, since I don’t have anywhere to store my crops?
17 So he began to think to himself, "What should I do, since I have no place to store my crops?'
18 this will I do, said he, I will pull down my barns, and build greater: and there I will bestow all my rich product.
18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
18 Then he said, ‘This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.
18 I will do this,’ he said. ‘I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones and store all my grain and my goods there.
18 Then he said, "This is what I'll do. I'll tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and I'll store all my grain and goods in them.
19 then I will say to my soul, soul, you have many enjoyments in reserve for a number of years; take your ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
19 And I will say to my soul, “Soul, (R)you have many goods laid up for many years to come; take your ease, eat, drink and be merry.”’
19 Then I’ll say to myself, “You(e) have many goods stored up for many years. Take it easy;(AF) eat, drink, and enjoy yourself.”’(AG)
19 Then I'll say to myself, "You've stored up plenty of good things for many years. Take it easy, eat, drink, and enjoy yourself."'
20 but God said to him, thou fool, this night shall thy soul be required of thee: who then shall enjoy what thou hast provided?
20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
20 But God said to him, ‘(S)You fool! This very night (i)(T)your soul is required of you; and (U)now who will own what you have prepared?’
20 “But God said to him, ‘You fool!(AH) This very night your life is demanded of you. And the things you have prepared—whose will they be?’(AI)
20 But God told him, "You fool! This very night your life will be demanded back from you. Now who will get the things you've accumulated?'
21 such is he, who heaps up his treasure here, and makes no provision for another world.
21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
21 “That’s how it is with the one who stores up treasure(AJ) for himself and is not rich toward God.”(AK)
21 That's how it is with the person who stores up treasures for himself rather than with God."
Anxiety
22 Wherefore (said he to his disciples,) be not sollicitous for your life, what ye shall eat; nor for the body, what ye shall put on.
22 And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.
22 And He said to His disciples, “(W)For this reason I say to you, (j)do not worry about your (k)life, as to what you will eat; nor for your body, as to what you will put on.
22 Then He said to His disciples: “Therefore I tell you,(AL) don’t worry about your life, what you will eat; or about the body, what you will wear.(AM)
22 Then Jesus told his disciples, "That's why I'm telling you to stop worrying about your life what you will eat or about your body what you will wear,
23 the life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.
23 The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.
23 For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing.
23 For life is more than food and the body more than clothing.
23 because life is more than food, and the body more than clothing.
24 consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap: nor have cellar or barn: are not you of much greater value than the fowls?
24 Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?
24 Consider the (X)ravens, for they neither sow nor reap; they have no storeroom nor (Y)barn, and yet God feeds them; how much more valuable you are than the birds!
24 Consider the ravens:(AN) They don’t sow or reap; they don’t have a storeroom or a barn; yet God feeds them.(AO) Aren’t you worth much more than the birds?
24 Consider the crows. They don't plant or harvest, they don't even have a storeroom or barn, yet God feeds them. How much more valuable are you than birds!
26 if then you can't effect so small a matter, why are you disquieted about a much longer time?
26 If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?
26 If then you cannot do even a very little thing, why do you worry about other matters?
26 If then you’re not able to do even a little thing, why worry about the rest?
26 So if you can't do a small thing like that, why worry about other things?
27 consider the lillys how they grow: they neither toil nor spin: and yet, I tell you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
27 Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
27 Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; but I tell you, not even (AA)Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.
27 “Consider how the wildflowers grow: They don’t labor or spin thread. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon(AQ) in all his splendor was adorned like one of these!
27 Consider how the lilies grow. They don't work or spin yarn, but I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was clothed like one of them.
28 now if God thus cloaths the flowers, which exist to-day in the field, and to-morrow are thrown into the oven: how much more will he cloath you, O distrustful men?
28 If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?
28 But if God so clothes the grass in the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more will He clothe you? (AB)You men of little faith!
28 If that’s how God clothes the grass, which is in the field today and is thrown into the furnace tomorrow, how much more will He do for you—you of little faith?(AR)
28 Now if that's the way God clothes the grass in the field, which is alive today and thrown into an oven tomorrow, how much more will he clothe you you who have little faith?
29 therefore don't be concern'd about what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; but lay aside all your anxiety:
29 And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.
29 Don’t keep striving for what you should eat and what you should drink, and don’t be anxious.
29 "So stop concerning yourselves about what you will eat or what you will drink, and stop being distressed,
30 for it is enough that the Gentiles are so concern'd about these things: as for you, your father is acquainted with all your wants.
30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.
30 For (n)all these things the nations of the world eagerly seek; but your Father knows that you need these things.
30 For the Gentile world eagerly seeks(AS) all these things, and your Father(AT) knows that you need them.
30 because it is the unbelievers who are concerned about all these things. Surely your Father knows that you need them!
Don'T Trust In Money
32 fear not, ye little flock, for it is your father's good pleasure to grant you the kingdom.
32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
32 (AE)Do not be afraid, (AF)little flock, for (AG)your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom.
32 Don’t be afraid,(AW) little flock,(AX) because your Father delights(AY) to give you the kingdom.(AZ)
32 Stop being afraid, little flock, because your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom.
33 sell your possessions and give alms. lay up for yourselves a stock not subject to decay, a treasure in the heavens that will never fail, where no thief can approach, nor moth can spoil.
33 Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.
33 “(AH)Sell your possessions and give to charity; make yourselves money belts which do not wear out, (AI)an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near nor moth destroys.
33 Sell(BA) your possessions and give to the poor.(BB) Make money-bags(BC) for yourselves that won’t grow old, an inexhaustible treasure(BD) in heaven, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.
33 "Sell your possessions, and give the money to the poor. Make yourselves wallets that don't wear out a dependable treasure in heaven, where no thief can get close and no moth can destroy anything.
On The Alert For The Master's Return
36 imitate those servants who stand waiting for their master's return from the wedding, to let him in as soon as he comes to the door.
36 And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.
36 Be like men who are waiting for their master when he returns from the wedding feast, so that they may immediately open the door to him when he comes and knocks.
36 You must be like people waiting for their master(BG) to return(h) from the wedding banquet(BH) so that when he comes and knocks, they can open the door for him at once.(BI)
36 Be like people who are waiting for their master to return from a wedding. As soon as he arrives and knocks, they will open the door for him.
37 happy those servants, whom the master at his arrival shall find thus watching: I assure you, he shall gird himself, and make them sit at table, and will come to serve them.
37 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.
37 Blessed are those slaves whom the master will find (AM)on the alert when he comes; truly I say to you, that (AN)he will gird himself to serve, and have them recline at the table, and will come up and wait on them.
37 Those slaves the master will find alert(BJ) when he comes will be blessed. I assure you: He will get ready,(i) have them recline at the table, then come and serve them.(BK)
37 How blessed are those servants whom the master finds watching for him when he comes! I tell all of you with certainty, he himself will put on an apron, make them sit down at the table, and go around and serve them.
38 happy are the servants he finds in such a state, whether it be at the second or at the third watch of the night, when he comes.
38 And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.
38 (AO)Whether he comes in the (p)second watch, or even in the (q)third, and finds them so, blessed are those slaves.
38 If he comes in the middle of the night, or even near dawn,(j) and finds them alert, those slaves are blessed.
38 How blessed they will be if their master comes in the middle of the night or near dawn and finds them awake!
39 if the master of a house knew at what hour the thief would come, no doubt he would be on his guard, and not suffer him to break into his house.
39 And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through.
39 “(AP)But (r)be sure of this, that if the head of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have allowed his house to be (s)(AQ)broken into.
39 But know this: If the homeowner had known at what hour the thief was coming,(BL) he would not have let his house be broken into.
39 But be sure of this: if the homeowner had known at what time the thief were coming, he would have watched and would not have let his house be broken into.
40 be ye therefore likewise prepar'd; for the son of man will come, when you least expect him.
40 Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.
40 You also be ready,(BM) because the Son of Man(BN) is coming at an hour that you do not expect.”(BO)
40 So be ready, because the Son of Man is coming at a time when you don't expect him."
A Faithful Slave And An Unfaithful Slave
41 then Peter said to him, Lord, do you apply this similitude to us, or to all in general?
41 Then Peter said unto him, Lord, speakest thou this parable unto us, or even to all?
41 “Lord,” Peter asked, “are You telling this parable to us or to everyone?”
41 Peter asked, "Lord, are you telling this parable just for us or for everyone?"
42 Jesus answered, if there be a faithful prudent steward, appointed by his master to give his domesticks their stated allowance; happy is such a servant,
42 And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?
42 And (AT)the Lord said, “(AU)Who then is the faithful and sensible (AV)steward, whom his master will put in charge of his (u)servants, to give them their rations at the proper time?
42 The Lord said: “Who then is the faithful and sensible manager(BP) his master will put in charge of his household servants to give them their allotted food(BQ) at the proper time?
42 The Lord said, "Who, then, is the faithful and careful servant manager whom his master will put in charge of giving all his other servants their share of food at the right time?
44 I assure you, he will intrust him with the management of his whole estate.
44 Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath.
44 Truly I say to you that he will put him in charge of all his possessions.
44 I tell you the truth: He will put him in charge of all his possessions.
44 I tell you with certainty, he will put him in charge of all his property.
45 but if the servant should say within himself, my master delays his return; and fall a beating his fellow-servants, indulging himself in eating and drinking to excess.
45 But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;
45 But if that slave says in his heart, ‘My master (w)will be a long time in coming,’ and begins to beat the slaves, both men and women, and to eat and drink and get drunk;
45 But if that slave says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’(BR) and starts to beat the male and female slaves, and to eat and drink and get drunk,
45 But if that servant says to himself, "My master is taking a long time to come back,' and begins to beat the other servants and to eat, drink, and get drunk,
46 his master will return on a day he does not expect him, and a an hour he is ignorant of; he will separate him from the rest, and give him a treatment answerable to his infidelity.
46 The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.
46 the master of that slave will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know, and will cut him in pieces, and assign him a place with the unbelievers.
46 that slave’s master will come on a day he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know. He will cut him to pieces(k) and assign him a place with the unbelievers.(l)
46 the master of that servant will come on a day when he doesn't expect him and at an hour that he doesn't know. Then his master will punish him severely and assign him a place with unfaithful people.
47 but the servant, who knows his master's will, and prepares not himself, nor executes his orders, shall receive many stripes.
47 And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
47 And that slave who knew his master’s will and did not get ready or act in accord with his will, will (AX)receive many lashes,
47 And that slave who knew his master’s will and didn’t prepare himself or do it(m) will be severely beaten.(BS)
47 That servant who knew what his master wanted but didn't prepare himself or do what was wanted will receive a severe beating.
48 whereas he that does not know it, and does things worthy of chastisement, shall receive fewer stripes. for to whom much is given, of him shall much be required, and the more a man has been trusted, the greater will be the demand.
48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
48 but the one who did not (AY)know it, and committed deeds worthy of (x)a flogging, will receive but few. (AZ)From everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and to whom they entrusted much, of him they will ask all the more.
48 But the one who did not know and did things deserving(BT) of blows will be beaten lightly. Much will be required of everyone who has been given much. And even more will be expected of the one who has been entrusted with more.(n)(BU)
48 But the servant who did things that deserved a beating without knowing it will receive a light beating. Much will be required from everyone to whom much has been given. But even more will be demanded from the one to whom much has been entrusted."
Not Peace, But A Sword Of Divisiveness
50 the baptism, which I am to undergo, how do I long till it be accomplished?
50 But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!
50 But I have a baptism to be baptized with,(BW) and how it consumes(BX) Me until it is finished!(BY)
50 I have a baptism to be baptized with, and what stress I am under until it's completed!
51 do you imagine that my coming will produce peace on the earth? I tell you, no; but rather division.
51 Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:
51 Do you think that I came here to give peace to the earth?(BZ) No, I tell you, but rather division!
51 Do you think that I came to bring peace on earth? Not at all, I tell you, but rather division!
52 for the future, if there are five persons in one family, they will be divided; three against two, and two against three.
52 For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.
52 for from now on five members in one household will be divided, three against two and two against three.
52 From now on, five in one household will be divided: three against two, and two against three.
52 From now on, five people in one household will be divided, three against two and two against three.
53 the father will be at variance with his son, and the son with the father: the mother with the daughter, and the daughter with the mother: the mother-in-law with the daughter-in-law, and the daughter-in-law with the mother-in-law.
53 The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

53 They will be divided father against son, son against father, mother against daughter, daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law, and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law."
The Signs Of The Times
54 Then he said to the people, when you see a cloud rise out of the west, you say, it is just going to rain; and so it happens.
54 And he said also to the people, When ye see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway ye say, There cometh a shower; and so it is.
54 And He was also saying to the crowds, “(BD)When you see a cloud rising in the west, immediately you say, ‘A shower is coming,’ and so it turns out.
54 He also said to the crowds:(CB) “When you see a cloud rising in the west, right away you say, ‘A storm is coming,’ and so it does.(CC)
54 Then Jesus told the crowds, "When you see a cloud coming in from the west, you immediately say, "There's going to be a storm,' and that's what happens.
55 and when the south wind blows, you say, there will be heat; and so it happens.
55 And when ye see the south wind blow, ye say, There will be heat; and it cometh to pass.
55 And when you see a south wind blowing, you say, ‘It will be a (BE)hot day,’ and it turns out that way.
55 And when the south wind is blowing, you say, ‘It’s going to be a scorcher!’ and it is.
55 When you see a south wind blowing, you say, "It's going to be hot,' and so it is.
56 Hypocrites, you can judge of the phoenomena of the earth, and of the sky, but why can't you discern the present times?

Settle Accounts Quickly
58 When you are going with your adversary before the magistrate, pay the interest, and get your discharge, while you are on the way; for fear he should bring you before the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and the officer throw you into jail.
58 When thou goest with thine adversary to the magistrate, as thou art in the way, give diligence that thou mayest be delivered from him; lest he hale thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer cast thee into prison.
58 For (BH)while you are going with your opponent to appear before the magistrate, on your way there make an effort to (ac)settle with him, so that he may not drag you before the judge, and the judge turn you over to the officer, and the officer throw you into prison.
58 As you are going with your adversary(CG) to the ruler, make an effort to settle with him on the way. Then he won’t drag you before the judge,(CH) the judge hand you over to the bailiff, and the bailiff throw you into prison.(CI)
58 For example, when you go with your opponent in front of a ruler, do your best to settle with him on the way there. Otherwise, you will be dragged in front of the judge, and the judge will hand you over to an officer, and the officer will throw you into prison.
