Psalm 37

² For they will quickly dry up like grass, and wither away like plants.

² For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.

² For they will ^(C)wither quickly like the grassAnd ^(D)fade like the green herb.

² For they wither quickly like grassand wilt like tender green plants.^(B)

² Indeed, they soon will wither like grass, and like green herbs they will fade away.

⁴ Then you will take delight in the Lord, and he will answer your prayers.

⁴ Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

^{4 (H)}Delight yourself in the Lord;And He will ^(I)give you the desires of your heart.

⁴ Take delight in the Lord,and He will give you your heart’s desires.^(E)

⁴ Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

⁶ He will vindicate you in broad daylight, and publicly defend your just cause.

⁶ And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.

⁶ He will bring forth your righteousness as a light, and your justice as the noonday sun.

⁸ Do not be angry and frustrated! Do not fret! That only leads to trouble!

⁸ Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

⁸ Cease from anger and ^(P)forsake wrath;Do not fret; it leads only to evildoing.

⁸ Refrain from anger and give up your rage;do not be agitated—it can only bring harm.^(J)

⁸ Calm your anger and abandon wrath. Don't be angry it only leads to evil.

¹⁰ Evil men will soon disappear; you will stare at the spot where they once were, but they will be gone.

¹⁰ For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.

¹⁰ Yet ^(S)a little while and the wicked man will be no more;And you will look carefully for ^(T)his place and he will not be there.

¹⁰ A little while, and the wicked person will be no more;though you look for him, he will not be there.^(L)

¹⁰ Yet a little while longer, and the wicked will be no more. You will search for his place, but he will not be there.

¹² Evil men plot against the godly and viciously attack them.

¹² The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.

¹² The wicked ^(W)plots against the righteousAnd ^(X)gnashes at him with his teeth.

¹² The wicked person schemes against the righteousand gnashes his teeth at him.^(O)

¹² The wicked person plots against the righteous, and grinds his teeth at him.

¹⁴ Evil men draw their swords and prepare their bows, to bring down the oppressed and needy, and to slaughter those who are godly.

¹⁴ The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation.

¹⁴ The wicked take out a sword and bend the bow, to bring down the humble and the poor to slay those who are righteous in conduct.

¹⁶ The little bit that a godly man owns is better than the wealth of many evil men,

¹⁶ A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.

¹⁸ The Lord watches over the innocent day by day and they possess a permanent inheritance.

¹⁸ The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.

¹⁸ The Lord ^(AH)knows the days of the ^(d)blameless,And their ^(AI)inheritance will be forever.

¹⁸ The Lord watches over the blameless all their days,and their inheritance will last forever.^(W)

¹⁸ The LORD knows the day of the blameless, and their inheritance will last forever.

²⁰ But evil men will die; the Lord's enemies will be incinerated -- they will go up in smoke.

²⁰ But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.

²⁰ But the ^(AK)wicked will perish;And the enemies of the Lord will be like the ^(e)glory of the pastures,They vanish—^(AL)like smoke they vanish away.

²⁰ But the wicked will perish;the Lord’s enemies, like the glory of the pastures,will fade away—they will fade away like smoke.^(Y)

²⁰ Indeed, the wicked will perish. The LORD's enemies will be consumed like flowers in the fields. They will vanish like smoke.

²² Surely those favored by the Lord will possess the land, but those rejected by him will be wiped out.

²² For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off.

²² For ^(AN)those blessed by Him will ^(AO)inherit the land,But those ^(AP)cursed by Him will be cut off.

²² Those who are blessed by Him will inherit the land,^(g)but those cursed by Him will be destroyed.^(AA)

²² For those blessed by God will inherit the land, but those cursed by him will be cut off.

²⁴ Even if he trips, he will not fall headlong, for the Lord holds his hand.

²⁴ Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.

²⁴ When ^(AS)he falls, he will not be hurled headlong,Because ^(AT)the Lord is the One ^(f)who holds his hand.

²⁴ Though he falls, he will not be overwhelmed,because the Lord holds his hand.^(h)(AC)

²⁴ Though he stumbles, he will not fall down flat, for the LORD will hold up his hand.

²⁶ All day long he shows compassion and lends to others, and his children are blessed.

²⁶ He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.

²⁶ All day long ^(AW)he is gracious and lends,And ^(AX)his ^(h)descendants are a blessing.

²⁶ He is always generous, always lending,and his children are a blessing.^(AE)

²⁶ Every day he is generous, lending freely, and his descendants are blessed.

²⁸ For the Lord promotes justice, and never abandons his faithful followers. They are permanently secure, but the children of evil men are wiped out.

²⁸ For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.

²⁸ For the Lord ^(BA)loves ^(j)justiceAnd ^(BB)does not forsake His godly ones;They are ^(BC)preserved forever,But the ^(k)(BD)descendants of the wicked will be cut off.

²⁸ For the Lord loves justiceand will not abandon His faithful ones.^(AG)They are kept safe forever,but the children of the wicked will be destroyed.^(AH)

²⁸ Indeed, the LORD loves justice, and he will not abandon his godly ones. They are kept safe forever, but the lawless will be chased away, and the descendants of the wicked will be cut off.

³⁰ The godly speak wise words and promote justice.

³⁰ The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.

³⁰ The mouth of the righteous ^(BG)utters wisdom,And his tongue ^(BH)speaks justice.

³⁰ The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom;his tongue speaks what is just.^(AJ)

³⁰ The mouth of the righteous one produces wisdom; his tongue speaks justice.

³² Evil men set an ambush for the godly and try to kill them.

³² The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.

³² The ^(BK)wicked spies upon the righteousAnd ^(BL)seeks to kill him.

³² The wicked one lies in wait for the righteousand seeks to kill him;^(AL)

³² The wicked stalks the righteous person, seeking to kill him,

³⁴ Rely on the Lord! Obey his commands! Then he will permit you to possess the land; you will see the demise of evil men.

³⁴ Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.

^{34 (BO)}Wait for the Lord and keep His way,And He will exalt you to inherit the land;When the ^(BP)wicked are cut off, you will see it.

³⁴ Wait for the Lord and keep His way,and He will exalt you to inherit the land.You will watch when the wicked are destroyed.^(AN)

³⁴ Wait on the LORD, Keep faithful to his way, and he will exalt you to possess the land. You will see the wicked cut off.

³⁶ But then one passes by, and suddenly they have disappeared! I looked for them, but they could not be found.

³⁶ Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.

³⁶ Then ^(m)he passed away, and lo, he ^(BS)was no more;I sought for him, but he could not be found.

³⁶ Then I passed by and^(l) noticed he was gone;I searched for him, but he could not be found.^(AP)

³⁶ But then he passed away; in fact, he simply was not there. When I looked for him, he could not be found.

³⁸ Sinful rebels are totally destroyed; evil men have no future.

³⁸ But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.

³⁸ But transgressors will be altogether ^(BW)destroyed;The ^(p)posterity of the wicked will be ^(BX)cut off.

³⁸ But transgressors will all be eliminated;the future⁽ⁿ⁾ of the wicked will be destroyed.^(AR)

³⁸ Sinners will be destroyed together; the future of the wicked will be cut off.

⁴⁰ The Lord helps them and rescues them; he rescues them from evil men and delivers them, for they seek his protection.

⁴⁰ And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.
