A Cry Of Desperation

1 O Yahweh, God of my salvation, I cry out by day [and] through the night before you.

2 Let my prayer come before you; incline your ear to my cry.

2 Let my prayer come before thee: incline thine ear unto my cry;

2 May my prayer reach Your presence;listen to my cry.(C)

3 For my soul is full with troubles, and my life approaches Sheol.

3 For my soul is full of troubles: and my life draweth nigh unto the grave.

3 For my (E)soul has (c)had enough troubles,And (F)my life has drawn near to (d)Sheol.

3 For I have had enough troubles,and my life is near Sheol.(D)

3 For my life is filled with troubles as I approach Sheol.

4 I am reckoned with [those] descending to [the] pit. I am like a man without strength,

4 I am counted with them that go down into the pit: I am as a man that hath no strength:

4 I am reckoned among those who (G)go down to the pit;I have become like a man (H)without strength,

4 I am counted among those going down to the Pit.(E)I am like a man without strength,(F)

4 I am considered as one of those descending into the Pit, like a mighty man without strength,

5 set free among the dead, like [the] slain lying in [the] grave, whom you no longer remember, even those cut off from your hand.

5 Free among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom thou rememberest no more: and they are cut off from thy hand.

5 (e)Forsaken (I)among the dead,Like the slain who lie in the grave,Whom You remember no more,And they are (J)cut off from Your hand.

5 abandoned(a) among the dead.I am like the slain lying in the grave,(G)whom You no longer remember,and who are cut off from Your care.(b)(H)

5 released to remain with the dead, lying in a grave like a corpse, remembered no longer, and cut off from your power.

6 You have set me in [the] pit below, in dark places, in [the] depths.

6 Thou hast laid me in the lowest pit, in darkness, in the deeps.

6 You have put me in (K)the lowest pit,In (L)dark places, in the (M)depths.

6 You have put me in the lowest part of the Pit,in the darkest places, in the depths.(I)

6 You have assigned me to the lowest part of the Pit, to the darkest depths.

7 Your wrath presses upon me, and you afflict [me with] all your waves. Selah

7 Thy wrath lieth hard upon me, and thou hast afflicted me with all thy waves. Selah.

7 Your anger lies heavily upon me; you pound me with all your waves. Interlude

8 You have removed my acquaintances far from me. You have made me detestable to them. [I am] confined and cannot go out.

8 Thou hast put away mine acquaintance far from me; thou hast made me an abomination unto them: I am shut up, and I cannot come forth.

8 You have distanced my friends from me;You have made me repulsive to them.(L)I am shut in and cannot go out.

8 You caused my acquaintances to shun me; you make me extremely abhorrent to them. Restrained, I am unable to go out.

9 My eye languishes from misery. I call on you, O Yahweh, every day; I spread out my hands to you.

9 Mine eye mourneth by reason of affliction: LORD, I have called daily upon thee, I have stretched out my hands unto thee.

9 My (S)eye has wasted away because of affliction;I have (T)called upon You every day, O Lord;I have (U)spread out my (h)hands to You.

9 My eyes are worn out from crying.(M)Lord, I cry out to You all day long;(N)I spread out my hands to You.(O)

9 My eyes languish on account of my affliction; all day long I call out to you, LORD, I spread out my hands to you.

10 Do you work wonders for the dead? Or do [the] departed spirits rise up [to] praise you? Selah

10 Wilt thou shew wonders to the dead? shall the dead arise and praise thee? Selah.

10 Will You perform wonders for the dead?Will (V)the (i)departed spirits rise and praise You? Selah.

11 Is your loyal love told in the grave, [or] your faithfulness in the underworld?

11 Shall thy lovingkindness be declared in the grave? or thy faithfulness in destruction?

11 Will Your lovingkindness be declared in the grave,Your faithfulness in (j)Abaddon?

11 Will Your faithful love be declared in the grave,Your faithfulness in Abaddon?(Q)

11 Can your gracious love be declared in the grave or your faithfulness in Abaddon?

12 Are your wonders known in the darkness, [or] your righteousness in [the] land of forgetfulness?

12 Shall thy wonders be known in the dark? and thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

12 Will Your wonders be made known in the (W)darkness?And Your (k)righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

12 Will Your wonders be known in the darknessor Your righteousness in the land of oblivion?(R)

12 Can your awesome deeds be known in darkness or your righteousness in the land of oblivion?

13 But as for me, I cry for help to you, O Yahweh, and in the morning my prayer comes before you.

13 But unto thee have I cried, O LORD; and in the morning shall my prayer prevent thee.

13 But I, O Lord, have cried out (X)to You for help,And (Y)in the morning my prayer comes before You.

13 But I call to You for help, Lord;in the morning my prayer meets You.(S)

13 As for me, I cry out to you LORD, and in the morning my prayer greets you.

14 Why do you reject my soul, O Yahweh? [Why] do you hide your face from me?

14 LORD, why castest thou off my soul? why hidest thou thy face from me?

14 O Lord, why (Z)do You reject my soul?Why do You (AA)hide Your face from me?

14 Lord, why do You reject me?(T)Why do You hide Your face from me?(U)

14 Why, LORD, have you rejected me? Why have you hidden your face from me?

15 I [am] afflicted and perishing from [my] youth. I bear your terrors. I am distraught.

15 I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up: while I suffer thy terrors I am distracted.

15 I was afflicted and (AB)about to die from my youth on;I suffer (AC)Your terrors; I am (l)overcome.

15 From my youth,I have been afflicted and near death.I suffer Your horrors; I am desperate.(V)

15 Since my youth I have been oppressed and in danger of death. I bear your dread and am overwhelmed.

16 Your burning anger has passed over me; your sudden fears have destroyed me.

16 Thy fierce wrath goeth over me; thy terrors have cut me off.

17 They surround me like water all the day; they circle about me altogether.

17 They came round about me daily like water; they compassed me about together.

17 Like waters, they engulf me all day long; they surround me on all sides.

18 You have removed loved one and friend far from me, my acquaintances [far from my] darkness.

18 Lover and friend hast thou put far from me, and mine acquaintance into darkness.

18 You have removed (AI)lover and friend far from me;My acquaintances are in darkness.

18 You have distanced loved one and neighbor from me;darkness is my only friend.(c)(Y)
