First Vision: Horsemen

¹⁶ Therefore, thus says the Lord, “I have returned to Jerusalem with mercy and compassion. My house shall be built in it,” says the Lord of hosts, “and a measuring line shall be stretched out over Jerusalem.”’ ¹⁷ Proclaim again, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, “My cities shall again overflow with prosperity, and the Lord shall again comfort Zion and again choose Jerusalem.”’” ¹⁸ Then I looked up, and saw four horns (powers)!

Isaiah 51:3

For the Lord will comfort Zion [in her captivity];
He will comfort all her ruins.
And He will make her wilderness like Eden,
And her desert like the garden of the Lord;
Joy and gladness will be found in her,
Thanksgiving and the voice of a melody.

Zechariah 2:12

The Lord will take possession of Judah as His portion in the holy land and will again choose Jerusalem.

Isaiah 14:1

For the Lord will have compassion on Jacob (the captives in Babylon) and will again choose Israel, and will settle them in their own land. Foreigners (Gentiles) will join them [as proselytes] and will attach themselves to the house of Jacob (Israel).

Isaiah 44:26

Confirming the word of His servant

And I will raise up and restore her ruins.

Nehemiah 11:3

These are the heads of the provinces who lived in Jerusalem, but in the cities of Judah everyone lived on his property in their cities—the Israelites, the priests, the Levites, the temple servants, and the descendants of Solomon’s servants.

Then they will rebuild the ancient ruins,

The desolations (deserted settlements) of many generations.

Zechariah 3:2
