Judgment Of Zion's Enemies
1 The word of the LORD shall be received in Hadrach, and Damascus shall be his offering: for the eyes of all men and of the tribes of Israel shall look up unto the LORD.
1 The burden of the word of the LORD in the land of Hadrach, and Damascus shall be the rest thereof: when the eyes of man, as of all the tribes of Israel, shall be toward the LORD.

1 A declaration: this message from the LORD in the land of Hadrach, with Damascus its confederate, because the eyes of humanity will look to the LORD, along with those of all the tribes of Israel.
2 The borders of Hamath shall be hard thereby, Tyre also and Sidon, for they are very wise.
2 And Hamath also shall border thereby; Tyrus, and Zidon, though it be very wise.

3 Tyre shall make herself strong, and heap up silver as the sand, and gold as the clay of the streets.
3 And Tyrus did build herself a strong hold, and heaped up silver as the dust, and fine gold as the mire of the streets.

4 Behold, the LORD shall take her in, and have her in possession: he shall smite down her power in to the sea, and she shall be consumed with fire.
4 Behold, the Lord will cast her out, and he will smite her power in the sea; and she shall be devoured with fire.
4 Behold, the Lord will (I)dispossess herAnd cast her wealth into the sea;And she will be (J)consumed with fire.
4 Listen! The Lord will impoverish herand cast her wealth into the sea;she herself will be consumed by fire.(E)
4 Look! The Lord will evict her, striking at her power in the sea, and she will be consumed by fire.
5 This shall Ashkelon see, and be afraid. Gaza shall be very sorry, so shall Ekron also, because her hope is come of confusion. For the king of Gaza shall perish; and at Ashkelon shall no man dwell.
5 Ashkelon shall see it, and fear; Gaza also shall see it, and be very sorrowful, and Ekron; for her expectation shall be ashamed; and the king shall perish from Gaza, and Ashkelon shall not be inhabited.
5 Ashkelon will see it and be afraid.Gaza too will writhe in great pain;Also Ekron, for her expectation has been confounded.Moreover, the king will perish from Gaza,And Ashkelon will not be inhabited.
5 Ashkelon will see it and be afraid;Gaza too, and will writhe in great pain,as will Ekron, for her hope will fail.There will cease to be a king in Gaza,and Ashkelon will become uninhabited.
5 Ashkelon will see it happen and will be terrified; Gaza will tremble greatly. Ekron will be ashamed of her expectations, Gaza's king will perish, and Ashkelon will become uninhabited.
7 Their blood will I take away from their mouth, and their abominations from among their teeth; Thus they shall be left for our God, yea they shall be as a prince in Judah, and Ekron like as Jebusi.
7 And I will take away his blood out of his mouth, and his abominations from between his teeth: but he that remaineth, even he, shall be for our God, and he shall be as a governor in Judah, and Ekron as a Jebusite.
7 And I will remove their blood from their mouthAnd their detestable things from between their teeth.Then they also will be a remnant for our God,And be like a (e)clan in Judah,And Ekron like a Jebusite.

7 I will remove the blood from its mouth, along with its abominations from between its teeth. Its survivors will be dedicated to our God; It will be like a clan of Judah, and Ekron will be as a Jebusite.
8 And so will I compass my house round about with my men of war going to and fro: that no oppressor come upon them any more. For that have I seen now with mine eyes.
8 And I will encamp about mine house because of the army, because of him that passeth by, and because of him that returneth: and no oppressor shall pass through them any more: for now have I seen with mine eyes.
8 But I will camp around My house (f)because of an army,Because of (L)him who passes by and returns;And (M)no oppressor will pass over them anymore,For now I have seen with My eyes.
8 I will set up camp at My house against an army,(b)against those who march back and forth,and no oppressor will march against them again,for now I have seen with My own eyes.
8 I will set a garrison around my Temple, to hinder those who might come and go, and to guard against oppressors who intend to invade; for I have taken note of this with my eyes."
The Coming Of Zion's King
9 Rejoice thou greatly, O daughter Zion; be glad, O daughter Jerusalem. For lo, thy King cometh unto thee, even the righteous and Saviour: Lowly and simple is he, he rideth upon an ass, and upon the foal of an ass.
9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.
9 (N)Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem!Behold, your (O)king is coming to you;He is (g)(P)just and (Q)endowed with salvation,(R)Humble, and mounted on a donkey,Even on a (S)colt, the (h)foal of a donkey.
9 Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion!Shout in triumph, Daughter Jerusalem!Look, your King is coming to you;He is righteous and victorious,(c)humble and riding on a donkey,on a colt, the foal of a donkey.(I)
9 "Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion; cry out, daughter of Jerusalem! Look! Your king is coming to you. He is righteous, and he is able to save. He is humble, and is riding on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
10 I will root out the chariots from Ephraim and the horse from Jerusalem, the battle bows shall be destroyed. He shall give the doctrine of peace unto the Heathen, and his dominion shall be from the one sea to the other, and from the floods to the ends of the world.
10 And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle bow shall be cut off: and he shall speak peace unto the heathen: and his dominion shall be from sea even to sea, and from the river even to the ends of the earth.
10 I will (T)cut off the chariot from EphraimAnd the (U)horse from Jerusalem;And the (V)bow of war will be cut off.And He will speak (W)peace to the nations;And His (X)dominion will be from sea to sea,And from the (i)River to the ends of the earth.
10 I will cut off the chariot from Ephraimand the horse from Jerusalem.The bow of war will be removed,and He will proclaim peace to the nations.His dominion will extend from sea to sea,from the Euphrates Riverto the ends of the earth.(J)
10 I will banish chariots from Ephraim and horses from Jerusalem. War weapons will be banished, and your king will speak peace to the nations. His dominion will extend from sea to sea, and from the River to the farthest portion of the earth.
The Restoration Of God's People
11 Thou also, through the blood of thy covenant, shalt let thy prisoners out of the pit, wherein is no water.
11 As for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water.
11 As for you also, because of the (Y)blood of My covenant with you,I have set your (Z)prisoners free from the (j)waterless pit.
11 As for you,because of the blood of your covenant,(K)I will release your prisonersfrom the waterless cistern.(L)
11 Now concerning you and my blood covenant with you, I have liberated your prisoners from a waterless pit.
12 Turn you now to the stronghold, ye that be in prison, and long sore to be delivered: And this day I bring the word, that I will reward thee double again.
12 Turn you to the strong hold, ye prisoners of hope: even to day do I declare that I will render double unto thee;
12 Return to the (k)(AA)stronghold, O prisoners (l)who have the (AB)hope;This very day I am declaring that I will restore (AC)double to you.
12 Return to a stronghold,you prisoners who have hope;today I declare that I will restore double to you.(M)
12 Return to your fortress, you prisoners who have hope. Even today I am telling you: In return I will repay you double.
13 For Judah have I bent out as a bow for me, and Ephraim have I filled. Thy sons, O Zion, will I raise up against the Greeks, and make thee as a giant's sword:
13 When I have bent Judah for me, filled the bow with Ephraim, and raised up thy sons, O Zion, against thy sons, O Greece, and made thee as the sword of a mighty man.
13 For I will (AD)bend Judah (m)as My bow,I will fill the bow with Ephraim.And I will stir up your sons, O Zion, against your sons, O (AE)Greece;And I will make you like a (AF)warrior’s sword.
13 For I will bend Judah as My bow;I will fill that bow with Ephraim.I will rouse your sons, Zion,against your sons, Greece.(d)(N)I will make you like a warrior’s sword.
13 For I have bent Judah as if it were my bow, loading it with Ephraim. I raised up your sons, Zion, against your sons, Greece, wielding you like a mighty warrior's sword."
The Lord Will Save His People
14 the LORD God shall be seen above them, and his darts shall go forth as the lightning. The LORD God shall blow the trumpet, and shall come forth as a storm out of the south.
14 And the LORD shall be seen over them, and his arrow shall go forth as the lightning: and the Lord GOD shall blow the trumpet, and shall go with whirlwinds of the south.
14 Then the Lord will appear (AG)over them,And His (AH)arrow will go forth like lightning;And the Lord (n)God will blow the (AI)trumpet,And will march in the (AJ)storm winds of the south.
14 Then the Lord will appear over them,and His arrow will fly like lightning.The Lord God will sound the trumpetand advance with the southern storms.(O)
14 The LORD will appear over them his arrow will shoot like lightning. The Lord GOD will blow the trumpet, and go out with the southern windstorm.
15 The LORD of Hosts shall defend them, they shall consume and devour, and subdue them with sling stones. They shall drink and rage, as it were through wine. They shall be filled like the basins, and as the horns of the altar.
15 The LORD of hosts shall defend them; and they shall devour, and subdue with sling stones; and they shall drink, and make a noise as through wine; and they shall be filled like bowls, and as the corners of the altar.
15 (AK)The Lord of hosts will defend them.And they will (AL)devour and trample on the (AM)sling stones;And they will drink and be (AN)boisterous as with wine;And they will be filled like a sacrificial basin,Drenched like the (AO)corners of the altar.
15 The Lord of Hosts will defend them.They will consume and conquer with slingstones;they will drink and be rowdy as if with wine.(P)They will be as full as the sprinkling basin,(Q)like those at the corners of the altar.(R)
15 The LORD of the Heavenly Armies will defend them; they will devour and conquer those who sling stones. They will drink and be boisterous like those who are drunk. They will be filled to the brim with blood, like the corners of the altar.
16 The LORD their God shall deliver them in the day, as the flock of his people: for the stones of his Sanctuary shall be set up in his land.
16 And the LORD their God shall save them in that day as the flock of his people: for they shall be as the stones of a crown, lifted up as an ensign upon his land.
16 And the Lord their God will (AP)save them in that dayAs the flock of His people;For they are as the stones of a (AQ)crown,(o)Sparkling in His land.

16 The LORD their God will save them at that time as his very own flock of people, because they are his crown jewels, exalted throughout his land.
17 O how prosperous and goodly a thing shall that be: The corn shall make the young men cheerful, and the new wine the maidens.
17 For how great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty! corn shall make the young men cheerful, and new wine the maids.
17 For what (p)(AR)comeliness and (AS)beauty will be (q)theirs!Grain will make the young men flourish, and new wine the virgins.
17 How lovely and beautiful they will be!Grain will make the young men flourish,and new wine, the young women.
17 For how great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty! Grain will make the young men thrive, and new wine the virgins.
