On the morrow, as they journeyed and drew nigh to the city, Peter went up on the house-top, to pray, about the sixth hour. And he became very hungry, and would have eaten; but while they made ready, he fell into a trance, read more. And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel like a great sheet, tied at the four corners, descending to him, and let down on the earth: Wherein were all four-footed creatures of the earth, and creeping things, and fowls of the air. And a voice came to him, Rise, Peter, kill and eat. But Peter said, In no wise, Lord: for I have never eaten any thing common or unclean. And the voice came to him again, the second time, What God hath purified, call not thou common. This was done thrice, and the vessel was taken up again to heaven.

And calling the multitudes he said to them, Hear and understand.

but go, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing what Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.

Then come together to him the Pharisees and certain of the scribes, who came from Jerusalem. And they saw some of his disciples eat bread with defiled, that is, unwashen hands. read more. openeth the womb shall be holy to the Lord) And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the Law of the Lord, A pair of turtle-doves, or two young pigeons.

And he went in and sat down to table. But the Pharisee seeing it, marvelled, that he had not first washed before dinner. And the Lord said to him,

But Peter said, In no wise, Lord: for I have never eaten any thing common or unclean.

and things strangled and fornication; from which keeping yourselves ye will do well. Fare ye well.

Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them, entered into the temple, declaring the accomplishment of the days of purification, till the offering should be offered for every one of them.

I know and am assured by the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean of itself: but to him that accounteth any thing to be unclean, it is unclean.

For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure: but it is evil to that man who eateth with offence.

Let none therefore judge you in meat, or drink, or in respect of a feast-day, or of the new-moon, or of sabbath-days: Which are shadow of things to come;

Therefore if ye are dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as living in the world, receive ye ordinances, (Touch not, taste not, handle not: read more. All which are to perish in the using) after the commandments and doctrines of men?

To the clean all things are clean; but to the defiled and unbelieving nothing is clean; but both their understanding and conscience are defiled.
