These six were born to him in Hebron. And there he reigned seven years and six months. And he reigned in Jerusalem thirty-three years.

And these were born to him in Jerusalem Shimea, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon, four of Bathsheba the daughter of Ammiel

And Johanan fathered Azariah, he who acted in the priest's office in the temple that Solomon built in Jerusalem.

And Jehozadak went away when Jehovah exiled Judah and Jerusalem by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar.

And they ministered before the dwelling-place of the tabernacle of the congregation with singing, until Solomon had built the house of Jehovah in Jerusalem. And they waited on their office according to their order.

These were heads of the fathers, by their generations, chiefs. These lived in Jerusalem.

And Mikloth fathered Shimeah. And these also lived with their brothers in Jerusalem, across from them.

And in Jerusalem lived of the sons of Judah, and of the sons of Benjamin, and of the sons of Ephraim, and Manasseh:

These chief fathers of the Levites were chief throughout their generations. These lived at Jerusalem.

And Mikloth fathered Shimeam. And they also dwelt with their brothers at Jerusalem, across from their brothers.

And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, which is Jebus, where the Jebusites were the people of the land.

And David took more wives at Jerusalem. And David fathered more sons and daughters.

And these were the names of the children whom he had in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,

And David gathered all Israel together to Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of Jehovah to its place which he had prepared for it.

And David took the shields of gold which were on the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.

And when the sons of Ammon saw that the Syrians had fled, they also fled before his brother Abishai. And they entered into the city. And Joab came to Jerusalem.

And it happened after the year had ended, at the time kings go forth, Joab led out the power of the army and wasted the country of the sons of Ammon. And he came and besieged Rabbah. But David stayed at Jerusalem. And Joab struck Rabbah and destroyed it.

And he brought out the people who were in it. And they sawed with saws and with sharp tools of iron, and with the axes. And so David did with the cities of the sons of Ammon. And David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.

But the king's word prevailed against Joab. And Joab departed and went up and down all Israel, and came again to Jerusalem.

And God sent an angel to Jerusalem to destroy it. And as he was destroying, Jehovah looked. And He repented of the evil and said to the angel who destroyed, Enough! Stay your hand now! And the angel of Jehovah stood by the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite.

And David lifted up his eyes and saw the angel of Jehovah standing between the earth and the heavens, and his sword drawn in his hand, stretched out over Jerusalem. And David and the elders, clothed in sackcloth, fell on their faces.

For David said, Jehovah, the God of Israel has given rest to His people so that they may dwell in Jerusalem forever,

And David gathered to Jerusalem all the rulers of Israel, the rulers of the tribes, and the commanders of the divisions that ministered to the king by division, and the commanders over the thousands, and commanders over the hundreds, and the stewards over all the substance and possession of the king, and of his sons, with the eunuchs and the mighty ones, even to every mighty one of valor.

And the time that he reigned over Israel was forty years. He reigned seven years in Hebron, and thirty-three years in Jerusalem.
