So I will pounce on them like a lion; like a leopard I will lurk by the path.

I will attack them like a bear robbed of her cubs -- I will rip open their chests. I will devour them there like a lion -- like a wild animal would tear them apart.

I will be like a lion to Ephraim, like a young lion to the house of Judah. I myself will tear them to pieces, then I will carry them off, and no one will be able to rescue them!

He will roar like a lion, and they will follow the Lord; when he roars, his children will come trembling from the west.

Therefore they will disappear like the morning mist, like early morning dew that evaporates, like chaff that is blown away from a threshing floor, like smoke that disappears through an open window.

Just as lion cubs are born predators, so Ephraim will bear his sons for slaughter.
