Thematic Bible: Compassion of

Thematic Bible

Who humbles Himself to behold
The things that are in heaven and in the earth?

Who remembered us in our low estate,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting,

For though the Lord is exalted,
Yet He regards the lowly,
But the haughty He knows from afar.

When the Pharisees saw this, they said to His disciples, “Why is your Teacher eating with the tax collectors and sinners?”

“For He has had regard for the humble state of His bondslave;
For behold, from this time on all generations will count me blessed.

*got up from supper, and *laid aside His garments; and taking a towel, He girded Himself.

And when He had said this, He showed them both His hands and His side. The disciples then rejoiced when they saw the Lord.

Then He *said to Thomas, Reach here with your finger, and see My hands; and reach here your hand and put it into My side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing.”

and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

And Jesus called His disciples to Him, and said, I feel compassion for the people, because they have remained with Me now three days and have nothing to eat; and I do not want to send them away hungry, for they might faint on the way.”

Moved with compassion, Jesus stretched out His hand and touched him, and *said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.”

The Lord said, “I have surely seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt, and have given heed to their cry because of their taskmasters, for I am aware of their sufferings.

But He, being compassionate, forgave their iniquity and did not destroy them;
And often He restrained His anger
And did not arouse all His wrath.

For if He causes grief,
Then He will have compassion
According to His abundant lovingkindness.

I led them with cords of a man, with bonds of love,
And I became to them as one who lifts the yoke from their jaws;
And I bent down and fed them.

then the Lord your God will restore you from captivity, and have compassion on you, and will gather you again from all the peoples where the Lord your God has scattered you.

The Lord, the God of their fathers, sent word to them again and again by His messengers, because He had compassion on His people and on His dwelling place;

But You, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious,
Slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness and truth.

And it will come about that after I have uprooted them, I will again have compassion on them; and I will bring them back, each one to his inheritance and each one to his land.

He will again have compassion on us;
He will tread our iniquities under foot.
Yes, You will cast all their sins
Into the depths of the sea.
