Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and God of all consolation; who comforteth us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort those, that are in any trouble, by the consolation wherewith we ourselves are comforted by God.
But God, who comforteth those that are brought low, comforted us by the coming of Titus:
for we have not an high-priest who cannot sympathize with our infirmities, but was in all respects tempted in like manner with us, yet without sin.

And our hope is firm concerning you, knowing that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so also of the consolation.
So that on the contrary, ye ought rather to forgive and comfort him, least such a one should be swallowed up with excessive sorrow.
Who is infirm, and I am not infirm also? who is offended, and I am not inflamed?
As it is just for me to think this of you all, because ye have me in your heart, both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, being all of you partakers of the same grace with me.

as ye know likewise, how we exhorted and comforted every one of you, as a father his children; and charged you, that ye should walk worthy of God, who hath called you to his kingdom and glory.
Let not a widow be chosen into the number under sixty years old, having been the wife of one man: in repute for good actions, if she have educated children, if she have entertained strangers, if she have washed the feet of saints, if she have relieved the afflicted, and diligently followed every good work.
for ye sympathized with me in my bonds, and ye took joyfully the plundering of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance.
Remember those that are in bonds, as if bound with them: and those that suffer evil as being yourselves also in the body.
