Jesus Christ » History of » Teaches in the temple (at jerusalem) at the feast of dedication
Now it was the feast of dedication at Jerusalem, and it was winter. And Jesus was walking about the temple, in Solomon's portico. Then the Jews came round Him, and said unto Him, How long dost thou hold us in suspense? If thou be the Messiah, tell us plainly. read more.
Jesus answered them, I have told you, and ye do not believe me: though the works that I do in the name of my Father, testify of me. But ye believe not; because ye are not of my sheep: for as I said unto you, my sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; nor shall any one force them out of my hand. My Father who gave them to me, is greater than all: and therefore none is able to force them out of my Father's hand. I and the Father are one. Then the Jews again took up stones to stone Him. But Jesus said unto them, Many good works have I shewn you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? The Jews answered Him, saying, We do not go about to stone thee for a good work, but for blasphemy; and because thou being a man makest thyself God. Jesus replied, Is it not written in your law, "I have said, ye are gods?" And if it stiled them gods, to whom the word of God came, (and the scripture cannot be made void,) do ye say of Him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, thou blasphemest, because I said, I am the Son of God? If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in Him. Therefore they sought again to seize Him; but He escaped out of their hand, and went away again beyond Jordan,

And Jesus spake and said, as He was teaching in the temple, How do the scribes say, that the Christ is the son of David? for David himself said by the holy Spirit, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand till I make thine enemies thy footstool. If any man desire to do his will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. He, that speaketh from himself, seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh the glory of Him that sent him is true, and there is no imposture in him. Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you observeth the law? wherefore else do ye seek to kill me? The people answered and said, Thou art possessed by a demon: who seeketh to kill thee? Jesus answered and said unto them, I performed one miracle on the sabbath, and ye are all amazed at it. Now Moses gave you the law of circumcision, (not that it is originally from Moses, but from the patriarchs,) and ye circumcise even on the sabbath: if then a man receive circumcision on the sabbath-day, that the law of Moses may not be broken; are ye angry with me, because I made a man perfectly well on the sabbath-day? Judge not according to appearance, but judge righteous judgement. Therefore some of those of Jerusalem said, Is not this He whom they seek to put to death? and here He talketh openly, and they say nothing to Him: Do the rulers indeed know, that this is in truth the Messiah? But we know whence this man is; whereas when Christ cometh, no one knoweth whence He is. Jesus therefore cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, Ye both know me, ye say, and ye know whence I am: now I am not come of myself, but He that sent me is true, whom ye know not.

Witness » God the father giving witness to jesus Christ
For we did not follow artfully devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ; but were eye-witnesses of his majesty. For He received from God the Father honor and glory when a voice came to Him from the magnificent glory, saying, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." And this voice, from heaven we heard, when we were with Him in the holy mount.
Then Peter said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou pleasest, let us make three tabernacles here, one for Thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. And as he was speaking, lo a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye Him.
Then said Peter to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: let us make three tabernacles; one for Thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias: for he knew not what to say, for they were sore afraid. And there was a cloud overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son, hear ye Him.
And as they were departing from Him, Peter said unto Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here, let us make three tabernacles, one for Thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias: not knowing what he said. And as he was saying this, there came a cloud and overshadowed them; and they were afraid, when they went up into the cloud and disappeared. And there came a voice out of the cloud saying, This is my beloved Son, hear ye Him.

For as the Father hath life in Himself, so hath He given also to the Son to have life in Himself. And hath given Him authority also to execute judgement, because He is the Son of man. Wonder not at this; for the time is coming, in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth, they that have done good to the resurrection of life, and they that have done evil to the resurrection of damnation. I can do nothing of my self: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not my own will, but the will of the Father that hath sent me. If I alone bear witness of my self, my testimony is not true in law: but there is another who testifieth concerning me; and I know that the testimony, which he giveth concerning me, is true. Ye your selves sent unto John, and he bore witness to the truth: though I need not testimony from man; but I say these things that ye may be saved. He was indeed a burning and shining light, and for a while ye willingly rejoiced in his light. But I have a testimony greater than John's: for the works which the Father hath given me to perform, the very works which I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me. And the Father who sent me, hath Himself borne witness of me: and yet ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his form.
