Afflicted saints » Often arise from the profession of the gospel
Then they shall deliver you up to be afflicted and shall kill you, and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.
But they will do all these things unto you for my name's sake, because they do not know him that sent me.

Comfort » The comforter
and I will ask the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive because it does not see him, or know him; but ye know him, for he dwells with you and shall be in you. But now I go unto him that sent me, and none of you asks me, Where goest thou? But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow has filled your heart. Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is expedient for you that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. read more.

Know, therefore, that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, who keeps covenant and mercy with those that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations and repays him that hates him to his face, to destroy him; he will not be slack to him that hates him; he will repay him to his face.

Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come, but your time is always ready. The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify of it that its works are evil. Go ye up unto this feast; I go not up yet unto this feast, for my time is not yet fulfilled.

And likewise also the Spirit helps our weakness; for we know not how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit itself makes entreaty for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. But he that searches the hearts knows what is the desire of the Spirit, that according to the will of God, he makes entreaty for the saints. And such trust we have through the Christ towards God: Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves, but our sufficiency is of God, who also has made us able ministers of the new testament, not of the letter, but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew, hanging him on a tree. God has exalted him with his right hand as Prince and Saviour, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins. And we are his witnesses of these things, and so is also the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those that persuade him.

Who is he that overcomes the world, but he that believes that Jesus is the Son of God? This is Jesus, the Christ, who came by water and blood; not by water only, but by water and blood. And the Spirit is he that bears witness, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three that bear witness in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.

Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come, but your time is always ready. The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify of it that its works are evil. Go ye up unto this feast; I go not up yet unto this feast, for my time is not yet fulfilled.
