Now six stone water-jars were standing there, for the Jewish rites of 'purification,' each holding about twenty gallons. Jesus said, "Fill up the jars with water." So they filled them to the brim. Then he said, "Now draw some out, and take it to the manager of the feast." They did so; and when the manager of the feast tasted the water which had become wine, not knowing where it had come from (though the servants who had drawn it knew), he called the bridegroom and said to him, "Everybody serves the good wine first, and then the poorer wine after people have drunk freely; you have kept the good wine till now." Jesus performed this, the first of his Signs, at Cana in Galilee, thereby displaying his glory; and his disciples believed in him.
