But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!

For the Lord has poured over you a spirit of deep sleep,
He has shut your eyes, the prophets;
And He has covered your heads, the seers.

"This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. "For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.


If anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, so that you will not come together for judgment. The remaining matters I will arrange when I come.


So then as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men.


knowing that such a man is perverted and is sinning, being self-condemned.

But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath; but your yes is to be yes, and your no, no, so that you may not fall under judgment.

to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me.’

Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews; this man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, "Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him." Nicodemus said to Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born, can he?" Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. "Do not be amazed that I said to you, 'You must be born again.' "The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit." Any place that does not receive you or listen to you, as you go out from there, shake the dust off the soles of your feet for a testimony against them.”

If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin.


Nevertheless I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment than for you.

Jesus said to them, If you were blind, you would have no sin; but since you say, ‘We see,’ your sin remains.

For all who have sinned without the Law will also perish without the Law, and all who have sinned under the Law will be judged by the Law;


but the one who did not know it, and committed deeds worthy of a flogging, will receive but few. From everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and to whom they entrusted much, of him they will ask all the more.

It has happened to them according to the true proverb, “A dog returns to its own vomit,” and, “A sow, after washing, returns to wallowing in the mire.”

I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness;
I saw your forefathers as the earliest fruit on the fig tree in its first season.
But they came to Baal-peor and devoted themselves to shame,
And they became as detestable as that which they loved.

He who winks his eyes does so to devise perverse things;
He who compresses his lips brings evil to pass.

Doing wickedness is like sport to a fool,
And so is wisdom to a man of understanding.

because they rejected My ordinances, and as for My statutes, they did not walk in them; they even profaned My sabbaths, for their heart continually went after their idols.

"Though evil is sweet in his mouth And he hides it under his tongue, Though he desires it and will not let it go, But holds it in his mouth,

They feed on the sin of My people
And direct their desire toward their iniquity.
