And he said to them, What man is there among you, that shall have one sheep, who if it fall into a pit on the sabbath, will not lay hold on it and lift it out? How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do good on the sabbath-day. Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, as the other. Then the Pharisees went out, and took counsel against him, how they might kill him.

Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death, But found none; yea, tho' many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At last came two false witnesses, And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.
But the scribes who had come down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils.

Then the high priest rent his clothes and saith, What farther need have we of witnesses? Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to deserve death. And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say to him, Prophesy, And the officers smote him with the palms of their hands.
