In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who works all things after the counsel of his own will:
Therefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger:
He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that rules his spirit than he that takes a city.
He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalts folly.
The discretion of a man delays his anger; and it is his glory to overlook a transgression.
A soft answer turns away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.
Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not yourself in any way to do evil.
He that is quickly angry deals foolishly: and a man of wicked intentions is hated.
But now you also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy talk out of your mouth.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Then said he unto them, But now, he that has a purse, let him take it, and likewise his bag: and he that has no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again your sword into its place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.

And refused to obey, neither were mindful of your wonders that you did among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a leader to return to their bondage: but you are a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsook them not.

Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man you shall not go: Lest you learn his ways, and get a snare to your soul.
Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be you kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake has forgiven you.
Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lies in you, live peaceably with all men. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, says the Lord.read more.

For if you love them who love you, what reward have you? do not even the tax collectors the same? And if you greet your brethren only, what do you more than others? do not even the tax collectors so? Be you therefore perfect, even as your Father who is in heaven is perfect.
