Pilate then asked: What is truth? After saying this, he went out again to the Jews and said to them: I find no fault in him.

([Psalm of David]) The fool says in his heart: There is no God (Jehovah) (Psalm 10:4). They are corrupt. They do disgusting things. No one does good things.

That which is known about God is clear to them, for God revealed it to them. His invisible attributes are clearly seen since the creation of the world. The things made prove His eternal power and divine nature. Mankind has no excuse,

([Psalm of David]) The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky displays what his hands have made. Day to day declares speech. Night to night shows knowledge.

He has not left himself without witness. For he did good and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.

No man has ever seen God. The only begotten God-like one who is closest to the Father (in the bosom of the Father) tells us about him. (Psalm 8:5)

Jesus responded: Have I been with you so long a time and you do not know me Philip? He who has seen me has discerned (experienced) (perceived) the Father. And you say, show us the Father?

Long ago on many occasions and in many ways God spoke to our fathers through the prophets. He has in these last days spoken to us by his Son, whom he has appointed heir of all things, through whom he made the ages (Greek: aion: ages of time, perpetuity, worlds, generations, human entities). God's Son is the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his being. He sustains all things by his powerful word. After Jesus purged our sins, he sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.

Honor Jehovah and serve him sincerely and in truth. Get rid of the gods that your ancestors used to worship in Mesopotamia and in Egypt, and serve only Jehovah. If you are not willing to serve him, decide today whom you will serve, the gods your ancestors worshiped in Mesopotamia or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are now living. As for my family and me, we will serve Jehovah.'

They said: Sirs, why do you do these things? We are only men like you. We bring you good news. You should turn from these worthless things to the living God. He is the God who made heaven and earth, the sea and all things.

As I passed along, and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription: To An Unknown God. What you worship as unknown, this I will proclaim to you. The God that made the world and all things in it is the Lord of heaven and earth. He does not live in temples made with hands. Men's hands do not serve him as if he needed anything. From one person he made every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth. He determined their appointed seasons, and the bounds of their habitation. God did this so man could seek him and might find him. He is not far from each one of us. In him we live, and move, and have our existence. Your own poets have said: For we are also his offspring. Being then the offspring of God, we should not think that the divine being is like gold, or silver, or stone, a device made by man's design or skill. Why should other nations say: Where is their God?

In his arrogant attitude he does not search for God. His faulty reasoning concludes: There is no God.

([Psalm of David]) Sin speaks to the ungodly deep within his heart. There is no reverence for God before his eyes.

Hear this, you stupid and senseless people! You have eyes, but you cannot see. You have ears, but you cannot hear.' Do you not reverence (respect) me? Asks Jehovah. Do you not tremble [with awe] in my presence? I made the sand a boundary for the sea, a permanent barrier it cannot cross. Although the waves toss continuously, they cannot break through. They do not say in their hearts, to themselves: 'We should respect Jehovah our God. He sends rain at the right time, the autumn rain and the spring rain. He makes sure that we have harvest seasons.'

They refused to pay heed, turned a stubborn shoulder (resisted), and stopped their ears, that they might not hear. They made their hearts hard like flint and would not listen to the law, and the words that Jehovah of Hosts sent by his Spirit through the former prophets. Great anger came from Jehovah of Hosts!

This I say therefore, and testify (affirm) in the Lord, that you no longer walk as the nations also walk, in the vanity (futility) (depravity) of their mind (thinking). They are darkened (blinded) (obscured) in their understanding, alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardening of their heart. They are past feeling. They have given themselves over to loose conduct, to work all uncleanness with greediness (a lust for more).

The bull knows its owner, and donkey knows where its master feeds it. But Israel does not know. My people do not understand! Woe to the sinful nation, people heavy with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, sons who are corrupt! They have forsaken Jehovah! They have despised the Holy One of Israel. They have turned away from him.

The wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness.

They show the work of the law written in their hearts. Their conscience also bears witness, and their thoughts accuse or excuse them. This is in the day when God will judge the secrets of men, according to my good news, by Jesus Christ.

Sanctify the Christ as Lord (kurios: master) in your hearts. Always be ready to answer every man who asks you a reason for your hope, yet with meekness (mildness) and respect!
