Then the devil leaveth him, and behold angels came and waited upon him.
And immediately the Spirit leadeth him out into the wilderness. And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan, and was with the wild-beasts; and the angels served him.
And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost, returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, Being forty days tempted by the devil. For such serve not the Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by good words and fair speeches, deceive the hearts of the simple.
For by speaking swelling words of vanity, they allure thro' the desire of the flesh, thro' wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them that live in error.
For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing, if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose ends shall be according to their works.
That we may be no longer children, fluctuating to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the slight of men, by cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive:
Let no one deceive you with vain words; for because of these things the wrath of God cometh upon the sons of disobedience.
