And yet ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh to you as to sons, My son, despise not thou the chastning of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him. For whom the Lord loveth, he chastneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastning, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he, whom his father chastneth not?
Happy is the man that endureth temptation: for when he hath been proved, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
For this cause many are sick and weak among you, and many sleep. For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven, against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who detain the truth in unrighteousness.
Marvel not at this: for the time is coming, in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth, they that have done good, to the resurrection of life, and they that have done evil, to the resurrection of damnation.
Let no one deceive you with vain words; for because of these things the wrath of God cometh upon the sons of disobedience.
For which things the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
When they say, peace and safety, then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child, and they shall not escape.
For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence: How shall we escape, if we neglect so great a salvation, which began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by them that had heard him?
Marvel not at this: for the time is coming, in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth, they that have done good, to the resurrection of life, and they that have done evil, to the resurrection of damnation. I can do nothing of myself: as I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just: because I seek not my own will, but the will of him that sent me.
But if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is not God unjust, who taketh vengeance? I speak as a man. God forbid; for then how should God judge the world? But if the truth of God hath abounded to his glory through my lie, why am I still judged as a sinner?read more.
And why may we not (as we are slandered, and as some affirm us to say) do evil, that good may come? Whose damnation is just.
Who when he was reviled, reviled not again, when he suffered he threatened not, but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
And I heard the angel of the waters saying, Righteous art thou, who art, and who wast, the Gracious one, because thou hast judged thus. For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink. They are worthy. And I heard another from the altar, saying, Yea, Lord God Almighty; true and righteous are thy judgments.
But I will shew you whom ye shall fear: fear him, who after he hath killed, hath power to cast into hell: yea, I say to you, fear him.
And be not afraid of them who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul; but rather be afraid of him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
But if thy right eye cause thee to offend, pluck it out and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. And if thy right-hand cause thee to offend, cut it off and cast it from thee; for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother, shall be liable to the judgment; and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be liable to the council; but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be liable to hell-fire.
As therefore the darnel are gathered and burnt with fire, so shall it be in the end of this world. The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them that do iniquity. And shall cast them into the furnace of fire; there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.read more.
Then shall the righteous shine forth as the Sun in the kingdom of their Father. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is good for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands, to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
And the beggar died and was carried by angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died and was buried: And in hell lifting up his eyes, being in torments, he seeth Abraham afar off and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
And death and hades were cast into the lake of fire: this is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
And then will I declare to them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into the outer darkness: there shall be weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Then shall he say also to them on his left-hand, Depart from me, ye cursed into the everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.
And he said to him, Strive to enter in thro' the strait gate; for many, I say to you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. When once the master of the house is risen up and hath shut the door, and ye begin to stand without, and knock at the door saying, Lord, Lord, open to us: He shall answer and say to you, I know you not whence ye are. Then shall ye say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.read more.
But he shall say, I tell you, I know not whence ye are: depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrust out.
But there shall in no wise enter into it any thing common, or that worketh abomination, or maketh a lie, but they who are written in the Lamb's book of life.
In flaming fire, taking vengeance on them who know not God, and who obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power,
And these shall go away into everlasting punishment; but the righteous into life everlasting.
And the smoke of their torment ascendeth for ever and ever, and they have no rest day or night, who worship the wild beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches: He that overcometh shall not be hurt by the second death.
Happy and holy is he that hath a part in the first resurrection: over these the second death hath no power; but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their part is in the lake that burneth with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.
Who devour widows houses, and for a pretence make long prayers; these shall receive greater damnation.
Moreover I say to you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment than for you.
And that servant who knew his Lord's will, and prepared not, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. But he that knew not, and did things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For to whomsoever much is given, of him much shall be required; and to whom they have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
And he laid hold on the dragon, the old serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
Not a new convert, left being puffed up, he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
Since then the children partake of flesh and blood, he also himself in like manner took part of the same, that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil:
And the great dragon was cast out, the antient serpent, who is called the devil and satan, who deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out unto the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where both the wild beast and the false prophet are: and they shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
