Let no one deceive you with vain words; for because of these things the wrath of God cometh upon the sons of disobedience.
For by speaking swelling words of vanity, they allure thro' the desire of the flesh, thro' wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them that live in error.
And he said to them, Take heed and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
But they that desire to be rich, fall into temptation, and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful desires, which plunge men into destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evils; which some coveting, have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
For I have no room where to stow my fruits. And he said, This I will do: I will pull down my barns and build greater; and there will I stow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years: take thine ease; eat, drink, and be merry. But God said to him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: and whose shall the things be that thou hast provided?
For we brought nothing into the world: it is manifest that neither can we carry any thing out.
We also are men of like passions with you, and preach to you, to turn from these vanities unto the living God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all things that are therein: Who, in times past, suffered all nations to walk in their own ways:
Seeing ye know ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation delivered by tradition from your fathers,
And out of his fulness have we all received, even grace upon grace. For the law was given by Moses,
The thief cometh not, but to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they may have life, and that they may have it abundantly.
Till we all come to the unity of the faith and knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
And ye are filled by him, who is the head of all principality and power.
Yet emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men.
For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.
