"If you really love me, you will keep my commands.

For love to God means this, to practice obedience to His commands, and His commands are not burdensome,
Now love means this, that we keep on living in accordance with His commands. The command is this, that we continue to live in love.
His command is this, that we should believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ and practice loving one another, just as He commanded us to do.
I give you a new command, to love one another. Just as I have loved you, you too must love one another.
This is how we can be sure that we love the children of God, by continuing to love God and to obey His commands.
For it would have been better for them never to have known the way of uprightness than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command committed to their trust.
