Watch out for yourselves and for all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God that he obtained with the blood of his own Son.
Give a shepherd's care to God's flock among you, exercising oversight not merely as a duty but willingly under God's direction, not for shameful profit but eagerly.
Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls and will give an account for their work. Let them do this with joy and not with complaints, for this would be no advantage for you.
Now I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who create dissensions and obstacles contrary to the teaching that you learned. Avoid them!
Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of those who mutilate the flesh!
The overseer then must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, an able teacher,
And entrust what you heard me say in the presence of many others as witnesses to faithful people who will be competent to teach others as well.
Be conscientious about how you live and what you teach. Persevere in this, because by doing so you will save both yourself and those who listen to you.
Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who labor among you and preside over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them most highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.
So welcome him in the Lord with great joy, and honor people like him,
Elders who provide effective leadership must be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard in speaking and teaching.
Now, brothers and sisters, you know about the household of Stephanus, that as the first converts of Achaia, they devoted themselves to ministry for the saints. I urge you also to submit to people like this, and to everyone who cooperates in the work and labors hard.
In the same way the Lord commanded those who proclaim the gospel to receive their living by the gospel.
Stay in that same house, eating and drinking what they give you, for the worker deserves his pay. Do not move around from house to house.
Now the one who receives instruction in the word must share all good things with the one who teaches it.
For the scripture says, "Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain," and, "The worker deserves his pay."
Now I urge you, brothers and sisters, through our Lord Jesus Christ and through the love of the Spirit, to join fervently with me in prayer to God on my behalf.
Pray for me also, that I may be given the message when I begin to speak -- that I may confidently make known the mystery of the gospel,
for I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ.
Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience and desire to conduct ourselves rightly in every respect.
So welcome him in the Lord with great joy, and honor people like him, since it was because of the work of Christ that he almost died. He risked his life so that he could make up for your inability to serve me.
and though my physical condition put you to the test, you did not despise or reject me. Instead, you welcomed me as though I were an angel of God, as though I were Christ Jesus himself!
Remember your leaders, who spoke God's message to you; reflect on the outcome of their lives and imitate their faith.

And we have different gifts according to the grace given to us. If the gift is prophecy, that individual must use it in proportion to his faith. If it is service, he must serve; if it is teaching, he must teach; if it is exhortation, he must exhort; if it is contributing, he must do so with sincerity; if it is leadership, he must do so with diligence; if it is showing mercy, he must do so with cheerfulness.
Now there are different gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are different ministries, but the same Lord. And there are different results, but the same God who produces all of them in everyone.read more.
To each person the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the benefit of all. For one person is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, and another the message of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another performance of miracles, to another prophecy, and to another discernment of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues. It is one and the same Spirit, distributing as he decides to each person, who produces all these things.
For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only do not use your freedom as an opportunity to indulge your flesh, but through love serve one another.
Be devoted to one another with mutual love, showing eagerness in honoring one another.
Owe no one anything, except to love one another, for the one who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.
Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with a heart of mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another and forgiving one another, if someone happens to have a complaint against anyone else. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also forgive others. And to all these virtues add love, which is the perfect bond.
And may the Lord cause you to increase and abound in love for one another and for all, just as we do for you,
You have purified your souls by obeying the truth in order to show sincere mutual love. So love one another earnestly from a pure heart.
Now this is his commandment: that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he gave us the commandment.
with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love,
Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, being jealous of one another.
In the same way, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.
And we urge you, brothers and sisters, admonish the undisciplined, comfort the discouraged, help the weak, be patient toward all.
Do not grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, so that you may not be judged. See, the judge stands before the gates!
Receive one another, then, just as Christ also received you, to God's glory.
