I am going to bring floodwaters on the earth to destroy all life under the heavens. Every creature that has the breath of life in it, everything on earth will perish.

Jehovah saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become. Every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. Jehovah was grieved that he had made man on the earth. His heart was grieved with pain. So Jehovah said: I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth. All of them: men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air. I am sorry that I created them.

He did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven others, when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly!

But I will establish my covenant with you. You will enter the ark, you and your sons and your wife and your sons' wives with you.

Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out. Men and animals and the creatures that move along the ground and the birds of the air were wiped from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark.

God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark. He sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded.

By faith Noah, being warned by God about things not seen as yet, moved with godly respect. He prepared an ark to save his house. By his faith he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that is according to faith.

They were disobedient while the ark was being built. Yet God waited patiently in the days of Noah. But few, that is, eight persons, were saved through water.

I establish my covenant with you: Never again will the waters of a flood destroy all life. Never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.

Jehovah smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: Never again will I curse the ground because of man, for the intent of his heart is evil from childhood. I will never again destroy every living creature, as I have done.

To me this is like the days of Noah, when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth. So now I have sworn not to be angry with you, never to rebuke you again.

I give you my rainbow in the clouds. It will be the sign of my covenant with the world of mankind.

Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant with you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters flood to destroy all life. God said: This is the sign of the covenant I have established with all life on the earth.

Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him: I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you and with every living creature that was with you, the birds, the livestock, and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you, every living creature on earth.

Jehovah said to Noah: Go into the ark, you and your whole family. For I have found you righteous in this generation. Take with you seven of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and two of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate. Also take seven of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth.

I will promise them peace. I will remove the wild animals from the land so that my sheep can live safely in the wilderness and sleep in the woods.

At that time I will make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, and with the birds of the heavens, and with the creeping things of the ground. I will break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the land, and will make them lie down in safety.

So I took my staff, Beauty, and broke it in pieces that I might break my covenant that I had made with all the peoples.

As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, will never cease.

Jehovah says: 'If My covenant for day and night do not stand and I have not established the fixed patterns of heaven and earth, then I would reject the descendants of Jacob and David my servant. And I would not take from his descendants rulers over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. But I will restore their prosperity and will show them love and compassion.'

Then God said: Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. Let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years.

The heavens and the earth and their immense arrangement were completed.

The day and the night are yours. You have prepared the light and the sun. You have set all the boundaries of the earth. You have made summer and winter.

They do not say in their hearts, to themselves: 'We should respect Jehovah our God. He sends rain at the right time, the autumn rain and the spring rain. He makes sure that we have harvest seasons.'

If you break my covenant of the day and my covenant of the night, so that day and night will not be at their appointed time, then my covenant may also be broken with David my servant so that he will not have a son to reign on his throne, with the Levitical priests as my ministers.

Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the long lasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.

God said: This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come:

The inhabitants of the earth pollute the earth. They transgress laws and violate statutes. They break the everlasting covenant.

Whoever sheds the blood of man will have his blood shed by man. For man was made in the image of God.

If you did this, you would defile the land where you are living. Murder defiles the land, and except by the death of the murderer there is no way to perform the ritual of purification for the land where someone has been murdered.

Behold! Jehovah is coming out of his dwelling to punish the people of the earth for their sins. The earth will disclose (reveal) the bloodshed upon her. She will conceal her slain no longer.
