And all the people answered, "His blood be on us and on our children!" Then he released Barabbas for them, and he had Jesus flogged and handed him over to be crucified.
Pilate summoned the high priests and the leading members of the council and the people, and said to them, "You brought this man before me charged with misleading the people, and here I have examined him before you and not found him guilty of any of the things that you accuse him of. Neither has Herod, for he has sent him back to us. You see he has done nothing to call for his death.read more.

So I will teach him a lesson and let him go." But they persisted with loud outcries in demanding that he be crucified, and their shouting won. And Pilate pronounced sentence that what they asked for should be done. He released the man they asked for, who had been put in prison for riot and murder, and handed Jesus over to their will.
For, as the Scripture says, the very name of God is abused among the heathen, because of you!
