God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: has he said, and shall he not do it? or has he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
The LORD has made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall hinder it?
And said, If you will diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD your God, and will do that which is right in his sight, and will give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon you, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that heals you.
O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.
For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and returns not there, but waters the earth, and makes it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
You, even you, are LORD alone; you have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and you preserve them all; and the host of heaven worships you.
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him; Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.
For, lo, he that forms the mountains, and creates the wind, and declares unto man what is his thought, that makes the morning darkness, and treads upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is his name.
God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwells not in temples made with hands;
You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for you have created all things, and for your pleasure they are and were created.
He sends the springs into the valleys, which run among the hills. They give drink to every beast of the field: the wild donkeys quench their thirst. By them shall the fowls of the heaven have their habitation, which sing among the branches.read more.
He waters the hills from his chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of your works. He causes the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth; And wine that makes glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengthens man's heart. The trees of the LORD are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he has planted; Where the birds make their nests: as for the stork, the fir trees are her house.
He turns rivers into a wilderness, and the water springs into dry ground; A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein. He turns the wilderness into a pool of water, and dry ground into water springs.
And why take you thought for clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Therefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.
In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who works all things after the counsel of his own will:
For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things are held together.
Have you entered into the treasury of the snow? or have you seen the treasury of the hail, Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war? By what way is the light distributed, which scatters the east wind upon the earth?read more.
Who has divided a channel for the overflowing of waters, or a way for the lightning of thunder; To cause it to rain on the earth, where no man is; on the wilderness, in which there is no man; To satisfy the desolate and waste ground; and to cause the bud of the tender grass to spring forth? Has the rain a father? or who has begotten the drops of dew? Out of whose womb came the ice? and the frost from heaven, who has given it birth? The waters harden like a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen.
Who covers the heaven with clouds, who prepares rain for the earth, who makes grass to grow upon the mountains.
That you may be the children of your Father who is in heaven: for he makes his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
Can you bind the cluster of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion? Can you bring forth Mazzaroth in its season? or can you guide Arcturus with its children? Know you the ordinances of heaven? can you set their dominion in the earth?
He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knows its going down.
Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who has created these things, that brings out their host by number: he calls them all by names by the greatness of his might, for he is strong in power; not one is missing.
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
Know you the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? or can you mark when the hinds do calve? Can you number the months that they fulfill? or know you the time when they bring forth? They bow themselves, they bring forth their young ones, they cast out their offspring.read more.
Their young ones become strong, they grow up in the open; they go forth, and return not unto them. Who has let the wild donkey go free? or who has loosed the bonds of the wild donkey? Whose house I have made the wilderness, and the barren land his dwellings. He scorns the multitude of the city, neither regards he the shouts of the driver. The range of the mountains is his pasture, and he searches after every green thing. Will the wild ox be willing to serve you, or abide by your crib? Can you bind the wild ox with ropes in the furrow? or will he plow the valleys behind you? Will you trust him, because his strength is great? or will you leave your labor to him? Will you believe him, that he will bring home your grain, and gather it into your barn? Gave you the proud wings unto the peacocks? or wings and feathers unto the ostrich? Which leaves her eggs in the earth, and warms them in dust, And forgets that the foot may crush them, or that a wild beast may break them. She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not hers: her labor is in vain without concern; Because God has deprived her of wisdom, neither has he imparted to her understanding. When she lifts up herself high, she scorns the horse and his rider. Have you given the horse strength? have you clothed his neck with thunder? Can you make him afraid like a grasshopper? the majesty of his snorting is terrible. He paws in the valley, and rejoices in his strength: he goes out to meet the armed men. He mocks at fear, and is not frightened; neither turns he back from the sword. The quiver rattles against him, the glittering spear and the javelin. He swallows the ground with fierceness and rage: neither does he halt at the sound of the trumpet. He says among the trumpets, Aha; and he smells the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting. Does the hawk fly by your wisdom, and stretch her wings toward the south? Does the eagle mount up at your command, and make her nest on high? She dwells and abides on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the stronghold. From there she seeks the prey, and her eyes behold afar off. Her young ones also suck up blood: and where the slain are, there is she.
Behold now behemoth, which I made with you; he eats grass as an ox. Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the muscles of his belly. He moves his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his thighs are knit together.read more.
His bones are as strong pieces of bronze; his bones are like bars of iron. He is the first of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him. Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play. He lies under the shady trees, in the hiding of the reeds, and marsh. The shady trees cover him with their shade; the willows of the brook surround him. Behold, though a river rages, he fears not: he is confident though the Jordan rushes into his mouth. He takes it with his eyes: his nose pierces through snares.
Can you draw out leviathan with a hook? or his tongue with a cord which you let down? Can you put a rope in his nose? or pierce his jaw through with a hook? Will he make many supplications unto you? will he speak soft words unto you?read more.
Will he make a covenant with you? will you take him for a servant forever? Will you play with him as with a bird? or will you leash him for your maidens? Shall your companions make a banquet of him? shall they apportion him among the merchants? Can you fill his skin with harpoons? or his head with fish spears? Lay your hand upon him, remember the battle, do no more. Behold, the hope of subduing him is in vain: shall one not be cast down even at the sight of him? None is so fierce that would dare stir him up: who then is able to stand before me? Who has given to me, that I should repay him? whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine.
You make darkness, and it is night: in which all the beasts of the forest do creep forth. The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their food from God. The sun arises, they gather themselves together, and lay themselves down in their dens.read more.
Man goes forth unto his work and to his labor until the evening. O LORD, how manifold are your works! in wisdom have you made them all: the earth is full of your riches. So is this great and wide sea, which teems with things innumerable, both small and great. There go the ships: there is that leviathan, which you have made to play therein. These all wait upon you; that you may give them their food in due season.
Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.
Therefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm, and with great judgments: And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and you shall know that I am the LORD your God, who brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning which I did swear to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it to you for a heritage: I am the LORD.
Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get you out of your country, and from your kindred, and from your father's house, unto a land that I will show you: And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless you, and curse him that curses you: and in you shall all families of the earth be blessed.
And Moses went up unto God, and the LORD called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shall you say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel; You have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself. Now therefore, if you will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then you shall be a special treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:read more.
And you shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation. These are the words which you shall speak unto the children of Israel.
For ask now of the days that are past, which were before you, since the day that God created man upon the earth, and ask from the one side of heaven unto the other, whether there has been any such thing as this great thing is, or has been heard anything like it? Did ever people hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as you have heard, and live? Or has God ever ventured to go and take him a nation from the midst of another nation, by temptations, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by an outstretched arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?
And when I passed by you, and saw you polluted in your own blood, I said unto you when you were in your blood, Live; yea, I said unto you when you were in your blood, Live. I have caused you to multiply as the bud of the field, and you have increased and become great, and you are come to excellent beauty: your breasts were formed, and your hair had grown, yet you were naked and bare.
When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt. As they called them, so they went from them: they sacrificed unto Baalim, and burned incense to graven images. I taught Ephraim also to go, taking them by their arms; but they knew not that I healed them.read more.
I drew them with cords of compassion, with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke from their jaws, and I laid food before them.
Have we not all one father? has not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers?
For how shall it be known here that I and your people have found grace in your sight? is it not in that you go with us? so shall we be separated, I and your people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth. And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that you have spoken: for you have found grace in my sight, and I know you by name.

Now therefore so shall you say unto my servant David, Thus says the LORD of hosts, I took you from the sheepfold, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people, over Israel: And I was with you wherever you went, and have cut off all your enemies out of your sight, and have made you a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth.read more.
Moreover I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and move no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as before, Since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel, and have caused you to rest from all your enemies. Also the LORD tells you that he will make you a house.
And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that you are God in Israel, and that I am your servant, and that I have done all these things at your word. Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that you are the LORD God, and that you have turned their heart back again. Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.
The LORD is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed. Save your people, and bless your inheritance: feed them also, and lift them up forever.
Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he has redeemed from the hand of the enemy; And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south.
And Israel joined itself unto Baal of Peor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel. And the LORD said unto Moses, Take all the heads of the people, and hang them up before the LORD in the sun, that the fierce anger of the LORD may be turned away from Israel.
If one man sins against another, the judge shall judge him: but if a man sins against the LORD, who shall intercede for him? Nevertheless they hearkened not unto the voice of their father, because the LORD desired to slay them.
Now therefore stand and see this great thing, which the LORD will do before your eyes. Is it not wheat harvest today? I will call unto the LORD, and he shall send thunder and rain; that you may perceive and see that your wickedness is great, which you have done in the sight of the LORD, in asking you a king. So Samuel called unto the LORD; and the LORD sent thunder and rain that day: and all the people greatly feared the LORD and Samuel.
Then there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David inquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites.
And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its place when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them.
Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim. And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand. So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.read more.
And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses' hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat on it; and Aaron and Hur held up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. And Joshua slaughtered Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword. And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven. And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it, The LORD is my banner: For he said, Because the LORD has sworn that the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.
And when king Arad the Canaanite, who dwelt in the south, heard tell that Israel came by the road to Atharim; then he fought against Israel, and took some of them prisoners. And Israel vowed a vow unto the LORD, and said, If you will indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities. And the LORD hearkened to the voice of Israel, and delivered up the Canaanites; and they utterly destroyed them and their cities: and he called the name of the place Hormah.
And the LORD delivered it also, and its king, into the hand of Israel; and he struck it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain in it; but did unto its king as he did unto the king of Jericho.
And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushes against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, who were come against Judah; and they were defeated. For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, to slay and destroy them utterly: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, everyone helped to destroy one another.
Now therefore so shall you say unto my servant David, Thus says the LORD of hosts, I took you from the sheepfold, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people, over Israel: And I was with you wherever you went, and have cut off all your enemies out of your sight, and have made you a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth.
Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt unto this day I have even sent unto you all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them:
Should you not hear the words which the LORD has cried by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and her cities round about her, when men inhabited the south and the lowland?
When the Most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel.
And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel; and he said, Because this people has transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not hearkened unto my voice; I also will no longer drive out any from before them of the nations which Joshua left when he died: That through them I may test Israel, whether they will keep the way of the LORD to walk therein, as their fathers did keep it, or not.read more.
Therefore the LORD left those nations, without driving them out hastily; neither delivered he them into the hand of Joshua.
Come, behold the works of the LORD, what desolations he has made in the earth. He makes wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaks the bow, and cuts the spear in two; he burns the chariot in the fire. Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.
And has made of one blood all nations of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;
