And he hath made of one the whole nation of men, to dwell on all the face of the earth, having determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation:
But I say to you, That every idle word which men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
For the time past of your life sufficeth to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when ye walked in lasciviousness, evil desires, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries. Wherein they think it strange, that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you, Who shall give account to him that is ready judge the living and the dead.

who were dead in trespasses and sins, Wherein ye formerly walked, according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the sons of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in time past, in the desires of the flesh, doing the will of the flesh and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the others.
Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth, fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: In which ye also once walked, when ye lived in them.
Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answering said, Verily I say to you, I know you not.
When once the master of the house is risen up and hath shut the door, and ye begin to stand without, and knock at the door saying, Lord, Lord, open to us: He shall answer and say to you, I know you not whence ye are.
And shall dash thee against the ground, and thy children, that are in thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another: because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.
And as he reasoned concerning justice, temperance, and the judgment to come, Felix being terrified, answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.
And I gave her time to repent of her fornication; but she will not repent.
Who is this Son of man? Then Jesus said to them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness overtake you, for he that walketh in darkness, knoweth not whither he goeth.
But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that even they that have wives, be as if they had none: And they that weep, as if they wept not; and they that rejoice, as if they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as if they possessed not; And they that use this world, as not abusing it; for the fashion of this world passeth away: Now I would have you without carefulness.
I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day; the night is coming, when no man can work.
Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go to such a city, and continue there a year, and traffick, and get gain: Who know not what shall be on the morrow; for what is your life? It is a vapour that appeareth for a little time and then vanisheth away: Instead of your saying, If the Lord will, we shall both live, and do this or that.
not as fools, but as wise men, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
We then, as fellow-labourers, do also exhort you, not to receive the grace of God in vain. (For he saith, I have heard thee in an acceptable time, and in a day of salvation have I succoured thee. Behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)
Therefore as we have opportunity, let us do good unto all men; but especially to them who are of the houshold of faith.
Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith) To day, if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness, Where your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.read more.
Therefore I was grieved with that generation and said, They always err in their hearts, and they have not know my ways. So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest. Take heed, brethren, left there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God: But exhort one another daily, while it is called to day, lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin:
Now in these days, the disciples multiplying, there arose a murmuring of the Hellenists against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration. Then the twelve calling the multitude of the disciples together, said, It is not right, that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables. Therefore, brethren, look out from among you seven men of good report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we will set over this business.read more.
But we will constantly attend to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
And in the morning, rising a great while before day, he went out and departed into a desert place and prayed there.
Therefore let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup.
For this cause ye pay tribute also: for they are the ministers of God, attending continually on this very thing.
And he said to them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while. For there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.
Ruling his own house well, having his children in subjection with all seriousness.
For I will not see you now in my way; but hope to stay some time with you, if the Lord permit.
And they continued stedfast in the teaching of the apostles, and the fellowship, and the breaking of bread, and the prayers.
And on the first day of the week, when we were met together to break bread, Paul being to depart on the morrow, preached to them, and continued his discourse till midnight.
Not forsaking the assembling ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another, and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
Bid her therefore help me. But Jesus answering said to her, Martha, Martha! Thou art careful and hurried about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen the good part, which shall not be taken from her.
But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Then Paul and Barnabas speaking boldly, said, It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken to you first; but seeing ye thrust it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold! we turn to the Gentiles. For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set Thee for a light of the Gentiles, that Thou mightest be for salvation to the ends of the earth.
Now, while Paul was waiting for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him, seeing the city wholly given to idolatry. He therefore discoursed in the synagogue to the Jews and the devout persons, and in the market-place daily to those whom he met with.
