I send you as sheep in the midst of wolves. Be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.
Blessed is the person whom Jehovah no longer accuses of sin and who has no deceitful thoughts.
Your obedience has come to our attention abroad. I am glad therefore on your behalf. Yet I would have you wise to that which is good and simple concerning evil.
Do all things without complaining (grumbling) (murmuring) and questioning (disputing). That way you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation. You are seen as lights in the world.
May he resolutely strengthen your hearts without blame in holiness before God, our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his holy ones.
May the very God of peace completely sanctify you (make you holy). I pray to God that your entire spiritual being, your mind and body, is preserved blameless until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Seeing that you anticipate these things, be diligent that you may be found in peace, without spot and blameless in his sight.
I know nothing against myself. Yet this does not acquit me, but he that judges me is God.
You were in the past alienated and enemies because your minds were on your evil works. But he (Christ) reconciled you in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and without blemish and without accusation before Him (God).
O Jehovah, listen in heaven and judge your servants. Punish the guilty one, as he deserves. Justify the one who is innocent.
Do not make false accusations. Do not put an innocent person to death. I will condemn anyone who does this evil thing.
These are the instructions for how to deal with jealousy. They tell you what to do when a woman is unfaithful to her husband and becomes unclean. They also tell you what to do when a husband has a fit of jealousy and is suspicious of his wife. He will make his wife stand in Jehovah's presence. The priest will do everything these instructions tell him to do. The husband is not guilty of doing anything wrong. But the woman will suffer the consequences of her sin.
When there is a dispute between men and they go to court, and the judges decide their case. They justify the righteous and condemn the wicked.
It is not good to accept the wicked, to overthrow the righteous in judgment.
These sayings belong to the wise. It is not good to show partiality in judgment. The people curse and the nations abhor the man who says to the wicked, You are righteous.
([Psalm of David]) O Jehovah, who may stay in your tent? Who may reside on your holy mountain? The one who walks with integrity and does what is righteous. He speaks the truth in his heart. The one who does not malign with his tongue, do evil to a friend, or bring disgrace on his neighbor or close friend.read more.
The one who despises those rejected by God but honors those who reverence (respect) Jehovah. The one who makes a promise and does not break it even though he is hurt by it. The one who does not collect interest on a loan or take a bribe against an innocent person. Whoever does these things will never fall or be upset.
A Lamb stood on Mount Zion, and with him one hundred forty-four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads. I heard a sound from heaven, as the sound of many waters. These are they who were not defiled with women. They are virgins. These are they who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. These were redeemed (bought) from among mankind. They are the first fruits to God and to the Lamb. No falsehood (lie) (deceit) was found in their mouth, for they are without fault.

If Jehovah your God enlarges your territory, just as he has sworn to your fathers, and gives you all the land he promised to give your fathers. This is what Jehovah says: Judge fairly, and do what is right. Rescue those who have been robbed from those who oppress them. Do not mistreat foreigners, orphans, or widows, and do not oppress them. Do not kill innocent people in this place.
But if you put me to death, you and everyone else in Jerusalem will be guilty of murdering an innocent man. This is because everything I spoke came from Jehovah.
But if there is a man who hates his neighbor and lies in wait for him and murders him. If he flees to one of these cities, the elders of his city will send for him. They will take him from there and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood that he may die. Do not pity him. Purge the blood of the innocent from Israel that it may go well with you.
Even more, Manasseh killed many innocent men. He filled Jerusalem from one end to the other with blood. He also caused Judah to sin and do evil in the eyes of Jehovah.
They shed innocent blood, the blood of their own sons and daughters whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan. The land became polluted with blood.
Jehovah hates these six things: Yes, seven are an abomination to him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
Their feet run to do evil. They hurry to shed innocent blood. Their thoughts are evil. Ruin and destruction are on their highways.
Stand at the gate of Jehovah's house and proclaim there this word: 'Hear the word of Jehovah, all you of Judah who enter by these gates to worship Jehovah! Thus says Jehovah of Hosts, the God of Israel: Amend (make right) your ways and your deeds, and I will let you dwell in this place. Do not trust in deceptive words. They say: 'This is the Temple of Jehovah, the Temple of Jehovah, and the Temple of Jehovah.read more.
For if you truly amend your ways and your deeds, if you truly practice justice between a man and his neighbor, if you do not oppress the alien, the orphan, or the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place, nor walk after other gods to your own ruin, then I will let you dwell in this place, in the land I gave to your fathers from generation to generation and for a very long time.' You are trusting in deceptive words that are of no value to you.
The king said: Do as he said. Kill him there and bury him in the earth. This will remove the guilt of his senseless murders from my father's family and me. Joab killed two innocent men who were better men than he: Abner, commander of the army of Israel, and Amasa, commander of the army of Judah. Jehovah will repay him for the blood Joab shed. The blood will fall on Joab and on his descendants as long as they live. Jehovah will always give success to David's descendants who sit on his throne.
This is what you must do if you find a murder victim lying in a field in the land that Jehovah your God is giving you. If no one knows who committed the murder, your elders and judges must go and measure the distance from the body to each of the neighboring cities. When it is determined which city is nearest the body, the elders from that city must choose a heifer that has never been put to work and never worn a yoke.read more.
The elders of that city will bring the heifer down to a river, to a location where the land has not been plowed or planted. At the river they must break the heifer's neck. Then the priests, the sons of Levi, shall come near. Jehovah your God has chosen them to serve him and to bless in the name of Jehovah. They will settle every dispute and every assault. All the elders of the city that is nearest to the slain man shall wash their hands over the heifer whose neck was broken in the valley. They will answer: 'Our hands did not shed this blood, nor did we see it. Forgive your people Israel, whom you have redeemed, O Jehovah. Do not hold us responsible for the murder of an innocent person.' Forgive them of bloodguilt. Remove the guilt of innocent blood from your midst. Do what is right in the eyes of Jehovah's.
David responded to Rechab and his brother Baanah, the sons of Rimmon from Beeroth: I once seized a man who told me that Saul had died. He thought he was bringing good news. I killed him in Ziklag to reward him for his news. How much more should I reward wicked men who kill an innocent man on his own bed in his home? Jehovah has rescued me from every trouble. If any of you uses an iron weapon to kill another person, you are a murderer. Murderers must be put to death. If any of you picks up a stone as a weapon and uses it to kill another person, you are a murderer. Murderers must be put to death. The relative who can avenge the death must make sure a murderer is put to death. When he catches up with the murderer, he must kill him. If any of you kills someone you hate by shoving him or by deliberately throwing something at him, or if you beat your enemy to death with your bare hands, you must be put to death. Then the community must use these rules in order to decide if you are innocent or if the dead person's relative can avenge the death. If you are innocent, the community must protect you from that relative. They must take you back to the city of refuge you fled to. You must live there until the death of the chief priest who was anointed with the holy oil. But do not go outside the city of refuge you fled to. If the relative who can avenge the death finds you outside the city of refuge and kills you, the relative is not guilty of murder. Accused murderers must stay in their city of refuge until the death of the chief priest. They may go back to their own property only after his death.
Judas, his betrayer, heard he was to be put to death. Out of regret, he took the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and those in authority. He said: I have done wrong in giving a righteous man to you.
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon invaded Judah. Jehoiakim king of Judah was forced to serve him for three years. Then he rebelled and fought against him. Jehovah sent raiding parties of Babylonians, Arameans, Moabites, and Ammonites against Jehoiakim to destroy Judah as Jehovah predicted through his servants the prophets. So they cried to Jehovah, and said: We earnestly request that you, O Jehovah, do not let us perish because of this man. Do not allow the loss of innocent blood! For you, O Jehovah, have done as you pleased.
