"Have you never read in the Scriptures," Jesus answered, "how The stone that the builders rejected Has been made the corner-stone; This is the Lord's doing, It is wonderful in our eyes?

"Have you not read this Scripture?" (he continued) "The very stone which the builders rejected Has now become the corner-stone;

He looked at them and said: "Then what does this scripture mean. "The stone which the builders rejected, the same was made the head of the corner?

"For he is the Stone, cast aside by you builders, which has become the head stone of the corner.

According to the grace of God vouchsafed me, like a skillful master-builder, I have laid a foundation; but another will be building upon it. Let each take heed how he builds on it. The foundation is already laid??esus Christ??nd no man can lay another. On that foundation, if a man proceeds to build gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble, each man's work will be made manifest.read more.
The Day will disclose it, for it dawns in fire, and the fire will test each man's work, of what quality it is. If any man's work??he building he has made??tands the test, he will be rewarded. If any man's work is burned up, he will suffer loss, but he himself will be saved, as it were through the flames.

Jesus has been counted worthy of greater glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who has built a house has higher honor than the house itself.

For you, then, that believe, is the preciousness; but for those who do not believe, A stone which the builders rejected, The same has become the head stone of the corner,

To one man I say 'Go,' and he goes; to another, 'Come,' and he comes; and to my slave, 'Do this,' and he does it." As Jesus listened to this reply he was astonished, and said to those who followed him. "In solemn truth I tell you that I have found faith like this in any Israelite. "I tell you that many will come from the east and from the west, and sit down with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. "but the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into the outer darkness; there will be the wailing and the gnashing of teeth." Then Jesus said to the captain. "Go! As you have believed, so be it unto you." And his slave was healed in that very hour.

After he had ended all his sayings in the hearing of the people, he went to Capernaum. Here the slave of a certain Roman captain, a man dear to his master, was ill, and at the point of death. So when the captain heard about Jesus, he sent elders of the Jews to ask him to come and save his slave.read more.
And they, when they reached Jesus, asked him earnestly to do this. "He deserves that you should do this," they said, "for he loves our nation, and himself has built a synagogue for us." So Jesus started to go with them, but while he was not far from the house, the captain sent friends to him with a message. "Lord do not trouble yourself, for I am not fit that you should come under my roof, "and so I did not think myself worthy to come to you; but speak the word, and let my man be cured. "For I also am a man obedient to authority, and have soldiers under me. And I say to one 'come,' and he comes, and to my slave 'do this or that,' and he does it." But when Jesus heard this he was astonished and he turned and said to the crowd that was following him, "I tell you that not even in Israel have I found faith like that." And those who had been sent, on returning to the house, found the slave well.

The soldiers also repeatedly questioned him, saying, "And we, what shall we do?" "Do not intimidate any one," he replied, "nor lay false charges, and be content with your pay."

Now there was at Caesarea a man named Cornelius, a captain in the Italian regiment. He was a devout man and God-fearing, and so were all his household. He gave many alms to the people, and constantly prayed to God. About three o'clock one afternoon he had a vision, and distinctly saw an angel of God enter his house and say to him, "Cornelius."read more.
He stared at him in terror, and said, "What is it, Lord?" "Your prayers and your alms have risen for a memorial before God," answered the angel; "and now send men to Joppa and fetch one Simon, who is called Peter. And after the angel who was speaking to him was gone, he called two of his household servants and a devout soldier who was in constant attendance upon him, and after telling them everything, he sent them to Joppa.

Take your share in suffering as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. A soldier in active service avoids entangling himself in the every-day affairs of life, so that he may please his commander.

Jesus said to him, "See that you tell no one, but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift which Moses commanded, as an evidence to them."

"In like manner also a Levite who came to the spot, came and looked at him, and passed on the other side.

"In solemn truth I tell you that whoever does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, that man is a thief and a robber; "but he who comes in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. "The porter opens the door for him; the sheep listen to his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the fields, keeping watch over their flocks by night. When suddenly an angel of the Lord stood by them, and the glory of the Lord shone round them; and they feared with a great fear. The angel said to them. "Have no fear, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be for all the people.read more.
"For unto you born this day in there is born in David's town a Saviour, who is the Anointed Lord. "And this is a sign to you; You shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling-clothes lying in a manger." When they had seen, they made known about the words which had been spoken to them concerning the child. And all who heard it were astonished at the things which were told to them by the shepherds.

"but he who comes in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. "The porter opens the door for him; the sheep listen to his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out. "When he has brought all his own sheep, he walks before them and the sheep follow him because they know his voice.

Then he told them many truths in parables. "Behold," he said, "the sower went forth to sow; and as he sowed, some seed fell by the roadside, and the birds came and ate it. Some fell on rocky ground where there was not much earth. Now because it had no depth of soil, it sprang up at once;read more.
but when the sun rose it was scorched, and withered away because it had no root. Some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked it. But some fell on good soil, and bore a crop, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. He who has ears, let him hear!"

"Listen! the Sower once went out to sow, and as he sowed, it happened that some seed fell on the road, and birds came and picked it up; some other seed fell on stony soil, where it had not much earth; and it sprang up quickly because it had no depth of soil,read more.

"Listen to another parable: "A man who was a householder planted a vineyard, fenced it about, dug a wine vat in it, built a tower, then rented it to vine-dressers and went abroad.

Presently Jesus began to speak to them in parables. "There was once a man," he said, "who planted a vineyard, put a fence around it, dug a pit for the wine-press, built a tower, rented it to tenants, and went abroad.

Then he began to tell the people this parable. "There was a man who planted a vineyard, and let it out to vine-dressers, and went to another country for a long time.

The farmer who has done the work should be the first to get a share of the crop.

Be patient, then, brothers, till the coming of the Lord. Behold the farmer who waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it, until it gets the early and the latter rains.

"When it was full they hauled it upon the beach, and sat down and sorted the good fish into baskets, but threw the worthless fish away.
