And Pilate, seeing that it availed nothing, but rather a tumult was being made, taking water, washed his hands before the multitude, saying, "I am innocent of the blood of this Man. The Jews, therefore, answered him, "We have a law, and according to the law He ought to die, because He made Himself God's Son." When, therefore, Pilate heard this saying, he was the more afraid; and he entered again into the Praetorium, and says to Jesus, "Whence art Thou?" But Jesus gave him no answer. And it was the Preparation of the passover: it was about the sixth hour. And he says to the Jews, "Behold, your King!"

Think ye that I came to give peace in the earth? I tell you, nay, but rather division.

And there was much murmuring about Him among the multitudes: some were saying, "He is a good Man;" others were saying, "Nay, but He is misleading the multitude."

A division, therefore, arose in the multitude because of Him.

Some of the Pharisees, therefore, said, "This Man is not from God, because He does not keep the sabbath." Others said, "How can a man who is a sinner do such signs?" And there was a division among them.

There arose again a division among the Jews because of these words.

And they were seeking to lay hold of Him; and they feared the multitude; for they knew that He spake the parable against them; and, leaving Him, they went away.

But, if we say, 'From men,' we fear the multitude; for all hold John as a prophet."

And the high priests and scribes heard it, and were seeking how they might destroy Him; for they were fearing Him, for all the multitude was astonished at His teaching.

And Jesus, having come into the parts of Caesarea Philippi, was asking His disciples, saying, "Who do men say that the Son of Man is?"

And it came to pass, as He was praying alone, the disciples were with Him, and He asked them, saying, "Who do the multitudes say that I am?"

But Festus, wishing to gain favor with the Jews, answering, said to Paul, "Are you willing, having gone up to Jerusalem, to be judged there concerning these things before me?"

But, when two years were completed, Felix received a successor, Porcius Festus; and, wishing to gain favor with the Jews, Felix left Paul bound.

And they, when they had further threatened them, released them, finding no way to punish them, on account of the people; because all were glorifying God for what had taken place;

And, going forth without, he wept bitterly.

And, on the following day, Paul went in with us to James; and all the elders were present. And, having saluted them, he narrated, one by one, each of the things God wrought among the gentiles through his ministry. And they, hearing it, were glorifying God, and said to him, "You observe, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews, of those who have believed; and they are all zealous for the law. read more.
And they were informed by report concerning you, that you teach all the Jews who are among the gentiles to forsake Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children, nor to walk after the customs.
