Then the sons of God saw the daughters of humankind, that they [were] beautiful. And they took for themselves wives from all that they chose. And Yahweh said, "My Spirit shall not abide with humankind forever in that he [is] also flesh. And his days [shall be] one hundred and twenty years." The Nephilim [were] upon the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God went into the daughters of humankind, and they bore children to them.read more.
And Yahweh saw that the evil of humankind [was] great upon the earth, and every inclination of the thoughts of his heart [was] always only evil. And Yahweh regretted that he had made humankind on the earth, and {he was grieved in his heart}. And Yahweh said, "I will destroy humankind whom I created from upon the face of the earth, from humankind, to animals, to creeping things, and to the birds of heaven, for I regret that I have made them."

And you must say to Pharaoh, 'Thus says Yahweh, "Israel [is] my son, my firstborn." And I said to you, "Release my son and let him serve me," but you refused to release him. Look, I [am about] to kill your son, your firstborn.'"

I will be a father to him, and he will be a son for me, whom I will punish when he does wrong, with a rod of men and with blows of the {human beings}.

I myself will be a father to him, and he himself will be a son to me. And I will not remove my steadfast love from him as I took it away from whoever was before you.

He himself will build a house for my name, and he himself will be to me a son, and I [will be] to him as a father, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.'

And he said to me, 'Solomon your son, he himself shall build my house and my courts, for I have chosen him as a son to myself, and I myself will be as a father to him,

And it happened {one day} {that} the sons of God came to present themselves before Yahweh, and Satan also came into their midst.

Then Yahweh answered Job from the storm, and he said, "Who [is] this darkening counsel by words without knowledge? {Prepare yourself for a difficult task like a man}, and I will question you, and you shall declare to me.read more.
"Where were you at my laying the foundation of [the] earth? Tell [me], if you possess understanding. Who determined its measurement? Yes, you do know. Or who stretched [the] measuring line upon it? On what were its bases sunk? Or who laid its cornerstone, when [the] morning stars were singing together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

I will tell the decree; Yahweh said to me: "You are my son; today I have begotten you.

The number of the children of Israel will be like the sand of the sea that cannot be measured or counted; and in the place where it is said to them, "You are not my people," it will be said to them, "Children of [the] living God."

Blessed [are] the peacemakers, because they will be called sons of God.

But love your enemies, and do good, and lend expecting back nothing, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.

And Jesus said to them, "The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage, but those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and [to] the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage, for they are not even able to die any longer, because they are like the angels and are sons of God, [because they] are sons of the resurrection.

But as many as received him--to those who believe in his name--he gave to them authority to become children of God, who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of a husband, but of God.

and not for the nation only, but also that the children of God who are scattered would be gathered into one.)

So then, brothers, we are obligated not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh, you are going to die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For all those who are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.read more.
For you have not received a spirit of slavery [leading] to fear again, but you have received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry out, "Abba! Father!" For in hope we were saved, but hope that is seen is not hope, for who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we await [it] eagerly with patient endurance.

But [it is] not as if the word of God had failed. For not all those [who are descended] from Israel [are truly] Israel, nor [are they] all children because they are descendants of Abraham, but "In Isaac will your descendants be named." That is, [it is] not the children {by human descent} [who are] children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as descendants.

Do not become unevenly yoked with unbelievers, for what participation [is there between] righteousness and lawlessness? Or what fellowship [does] light [have] with darkness? And what agreement [does] Christ [have] with Beliar? Or what share [does] a believer [have] with an unbeliever? And what agreement [does the] temple of God [have] with idols? For we are the temple of the living God, just as God said, "I will live in them and will walk about [among them], and I will be their God and they will be my people."read more.
Therefore "come out from their midst and be separate," says the Lord, "and do not touch what is unclean, and I will welcome you, and I will be a father to you, and you will be sons and daughters to me," says the all-powerful Lord.

So then, the law became our guardian until Christ, in order that we could be justified by faith. But [after] faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian. For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus,read more.
for as many [of you] as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you [are] Christ's, then you are descendants of Abraham, heirs according to the promise.

Now I say, for as long a time [as] the heir is a child, [he is] no different from a slave, [although he] is master of everything, but he is under guardians and managers until the time set by [his] father. So also we, when we were children, we were enslaved under the elemental spirits of the world.read more.
But when the fullness of time came, God sent out his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, in order that he might redeem those under the law, in order that we might receive the adoption. And because you are sons, God sent out the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying out, "Abba! (Father!)," so that you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, also an heir through God. But at that time [when you] did not know God, you were enslaved to the things which by nature are not gods.

having predestined us to adoption through Jesus Christ to himself according to the good pleasure of his will,

in order that you may become blameless and innocent, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverted generation, among whom you shine as stars in the world,

And now, little children, remain in him, so that whenever he is revealed we may have confidence and not be put to shame before him at his coming. If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness has been fathered by him.

See what sort of love the Father has given to us: that we should be called children of God, and we are! Because of this the world does not know us: because it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that whenever he is revealed we will be like him, because we will see him just as he is. And everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as that one is pure.

Everyone who is fathered by God does not practice sin, because his seed resides in him, and [he is] not able to sin, because he has been fathered by God. By this the children of God and the children of the devil are evident: everyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, namely, the one who does not love his brother.

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been fathered by God, and everyone who loves {the father} also loves the [child] fathered by him. By this we know that we love the children of God: whenever we love God and keep his commandments.

The one who conquers will inherit these [things], and I will be {his God} and he will be {my son}.
