And their scribes and pharisees murmured at his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners?
Then drew near unto Him all the publicans and other notorious sinners, to hear Him. And the pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man entertaineth wicked persons, and eateth with them.
The pharisee standing by himself prayed thus, O God, I thank thee that I am not as other men are, rapacious, unjust, adulterous, or even as this publican.
And as they were going from Jericho, a great multitude followed Him: and behold, two blind men siting by the way-side, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou son of David. And the people rebuked them, that they might hold their peace: but they cried out the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou son of David.
And they came to Jericho: and as He was going out of Jericho, with his disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimeus, the son of Timeus, sat by the way-side begging. And hearing that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me. And many rebuked him, that he might hold his peace: but he cried out so much the more, Thou son of David, have pity on me.

And Jesus said unto them, Verily I tell you, that ye who have followed me, in the regeneration, when the son of man shall sit on the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon the twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel: yea and every one who hath left houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, shall receive an hundred-fold, and shall inherit eternal life. For ye see by your calling, brethren, that not many wise men according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble are called: but God hath chosen things that are foolish in the eye of the world to put it's wise men to confusion; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the mighty; and things in the opinion of the world ignoble, and despicable, and accounted as nothing, hath God chosen, to abolish things that are in esteem among men;read more.

At that time came the disciples to Jesus, saying, Who is to be the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? And He spake a parable to those that were invited, observing how they chose the chief seats, saying unto them, When thou art invited by any one to a wedding, do not sit down in the uppermost place, least one more honorable than thou be invited by him; and he who invited thee and him, should come and say to thee, Give place to this person, and then thou begin with shame to take the lowest place.read more.
But when thou art invited, go and sit down at the lowest place, that, when he who invited thee cometh, he may say to thee, Friend, go up higher: then wilt thou have honor before them that sit at table with thee: for whosoever exalteth himself shall be humbled, and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

Do nothing through strife or vain-glory, but in lowliness of mind each esteeming others better than themselves. Look not every one to his own interests only, but every one also to the concerns of others. Let the same mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
and there is neither Jew nor Greek, those is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female; for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
For he that is called in the Lord being a slave, is the Lord's freed-man: and he likewise that is called being free is the servant of Christ.
Nevertheless, neither is the man without the woman, nor the woman without the man, in the Lord. For as the woman was originally from the man, so also is the man by the woman: but all things are from God.
Let the brother that is low rejoice in his exaltation: but the rich in his humiliation, because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.
