As Jesus was going from the temple, his disciples came and desired him to take a view of the buildings. Jesus said to them, observe this vast structure, I tell you for certain, there shall not be any part of it left standing, but it shall be all thrown into ruins.
As Jesus was going out of the temple, one of his disciples said to him, see, master, what stone-work, and buildings are here. but Jesus answer'd him, you see this magnificent structure, which shall not be left till it be all demolished, one stone after another.
Some having said of the temple, that the stone-work was fine, and the furniture magnificent: the time is coming, said he, when these buildings, which you now view, shall be all thrown down and lost in ruins.
Now, as soon as the evening was come; because it was then the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath, one Joseph of Arimathea, an honourable senator, who was himself in expectation of the kingdom of God, ventur'd to come and wait upon Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. since then we are the offspring of God, we should not imagine that the Deity bears any resemblance to the form which Gold, or Silver, or Stone has receiv'd from human art and industry.
As for the rest of the men who were not killed by these plagues, they did not repent of their evil actions, so as to forbear worshipping demons, and idols of gold and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which can neither see, nor hear, nor walk:
