And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me? it is hard for you to kick against the goads.
If then God gave them the same gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; who was I, that I could withstand God?
The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. He that sits in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.read more.
Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and distress them in his great displeasure.
The wicked man travails with pain all his days, and the number of years is hidden for the oppressor. A dreadful sound is in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him. He believes not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is waited for by the sword.read more.
He wanders abroad for bread, saying, Where is it? he knows that the day of darkness is ready at his hand. Trouble and anguish shall make him afraid; they shall prevail against him, as a king ready for battle. For he stretches out his hand against God, and strengthens himself against the Almighty. He runs stubbornly against him, with his heavily embossed shield.
You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you do always resist the Holy Spirit: as your fathers did, so do you.
Woe unto him that strives with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashions it, What do you make? or of your work, He has no hands? Woe unto him that says unto his father, What do you beget? or to the woman, What have you brought forth? This is the water of Meribah, because the children of Israel strove with the LORD, and he was sanctified among them.

And in this do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offense toward God, and toward men.
Strive to enter in at the narrow gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.
For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. For that which I do I know not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.read more.
Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwells in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwells no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. And every man that strives for self control is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not with uncertainty; so fight I, not as one that beats the air: But I roughly treat my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be disqualified.
That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if indeed I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.read more.
