And even for this cause pay ye tribute. For they are God's ministers, serving for the same purpose. Give to every man therefore his duty: Tribute to whom tribute belongeth: Custom to whom custom is due: fear to whom fear belongeth: Honour to whom honour pertaineth.

Then the king called Jehoiada that was the chiefest, and said to him, "Why requirest thou not of the Levites to bring in, out of Judah and Jerusalem the sum appointed by Moses the servant of the LORD, and by the congregation of Israel, for the tabernacle of witness?"

And when they were come to Capernaum, they that were wont to gather poll money, came to Peter and said, "Doth your Master pay tribute?" He said, "Yea." And when he was come into the house, Jesus spake first to him, saying, "What thinkest thou Simon? Of whom do the kings of the earth take tribute, or poll money? Of their children, or of strangers?" Peter said unto him, "Of strangers." Then said Jesus unto him again, "Then are the children free.

The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, 'God, I thank thee that I am not as other men are; extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or as this publican.

For if ye love them which love you, what reward shall ye have? Do not the Publicans even so?

If he hear not them, tell it unto the congregation: if he hear not the congregation, take him as a heathen man, and as a publican.

Then came there publicans to be baptised, and said unto him, "Master, what shall we do?" And he said unto them, "Require no more than that which is appointed unto you."

Whether of these twain did the will of the father?" And they said unto him, "The first." Jesus said unto them, "Verily I say unto you, that the publicans and the harlots shall come into the kingdom of God before you. For John came unto you, in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not. But the publicans and the harlots believed him. And yet ye, though ye saw it, were not yet moved with repentance; that ye might afterward have believed him.

And all the people that heard, and the publicans, justified God and were baptised with the baptism of John.

Then resorted unto him all the publicans and sinners, for to hear him.

And it came to pass, as he sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down also with Jesus, and his disciples.

And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, "How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners?"

And the scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, "Why eat ye and drink ye, with publicans and sinners?"

The son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a glutton, and drinker of wine, and a friend unto publicans, and sinners. And neverthelater, wisdom is justified of her children."

The son of man is come, and eateth and drinketh, and ye say, 'Behold a man which is a glutton, and a drinker of wine, a friend of publicans and sinners.'

And he entered in, and went through Jericho. And behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was a ruler among the publicans, and was rich also. And he made means to see Jesus, what he should be: and he could not for the press, because he was of a low stature.read more.
Wherefore, he ran before, and climbed up into a wild fig tree to see him. For he should come that same way. And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, "Zach, come down at once: for today I must abide at thy house." And hastily he came down, and received him joyfully. And when they saw that, they all grudged saying, "He is gone in to tarry with a man that is a sinner."

When Jesus heard that, he said unto them, "The whole need not the physician, but they that are sick. Go and learn, what that meaneth: 'I have pleasure in mercy, and not in offering.' For I am not come to call the righteous, but the sinners to repentance." Then came the disciples of John to him, saying, "Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not?"

When Jesus heard that, he said unto them, "The whole have no need of the Physician: but the sick. I came not to call the righteous, but the sinners to repentance."

Jesus answered and said unto them, "They that are whole, need not of the physician: but they that are sick.

Then put he forth this similitude to them, saying, "What man of you having a hundred sheep, if he lose one of them doth not leave ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find him?

And the publican stood afar off, and would not lift up his eyes to heaven, but smote his breast, saying, 'God be merciful to me, a sinner.' I tell you, This man departed home to his house justified more than the other. For every man that exalteth himself, shall be brought low: And he that humbleth himself, shall be exalted."

And as Jesus passed forth from thence he saw a man sit at the receipt of custom, named Matthew: and said to him, "Follow me." And he arose, and followed him.

And he went out again unto the sea, and all the people resorted unto him, and he taught them. And as Jesus passed by, he saw Levi, the son of Alphaeus, sit at the receipt of custom and said unto him, "Follow me." And he arose and followed him.

And after that, he went forth, and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom, and said unto him, "Follow me." And he left all, rose up, and followed him.
