Do not be excessively righteous, and do not act excessively wise, lest you destroy yourself.
If he should set his heart to it, and he should gather his spirit and his breath to himself,
The saying [is] trustworthy, and I want you to insist concerning these [things], so that those who have believed in God may be careful to engage in good deeds. These things are good and beneficial for people.
in order that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who inherit the promises through faith and patience.
God [is] spirit, and the ones who worship him must worship in spirit and truth."
Now to the one who works, his pay is not credited according to grace, but according to his due.
Although the sinner does evil a hundred times and prolongs his life, yet I also know that it will be good for those who fear God--because they fear {his presence}.
but he remains quiet, and who can condemn? And he hides [his] face, and who can behold him? Yet [he is] over a nation and over a person alike,
And Moses commanded, and they {proclaimed the message} in the camp, saying, "Let no man or woman again make anything for the sanctuary contribution." And so the people were restrained from bringing.
They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny [him], [because they] are detestable and disobedient, and unfit for every good deed.
Now [when he] saw the crowds, he went up the mountain and [after he] sat down, his disciples approached him.
but at the proper time has disclosed his message in the proclamation [with] which I was entrusted according to the command of God our Savior,
But [as for] me, I will look to Yahweh; I will wait for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me.
He strikes them {where the wicked stood}, {where there are onlookers},
But if it is from God, you will not be able to overthrow them, lest you even be found fighting against God." So they were persuaded by him.
To the pure all [things] [are] pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing [is] pure, but both their mind and conscience are defiled.
Shall [he who] hates justice really govern? Or will you declare [the] Righteous One, the Mighty, guilty?--
But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and contentions and quarrels about the law, for they are useless and fruitless.
and all pride that is raised up against the knowledge of God, and taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.
And [when he] had said this, he breathed on [them] and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit.
A day for building your walls; [on] that day he will extend [your] boundary.
"Look at [the] heavens, and see; and observe [the] clouds [that] are higher than you.
And none of the rest dared to join them, but the people spoke highly of them.
"Indeed, does anyone say to God, 'I have endured [chastisement]; I will not act corruptly [again];
Indeed, he will repay [according to] a human being's deeds, and according to a man's way he will let [it] happen [to] him.
Now [when] they heard [this], they were infuriated, and were wanting to execute them.
A certain one of them, [one of] their own prophets, has said, "Cretans [are] always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons."
"Therefore, listen to me, {people who have sense}: far be it from God {that he should commit wickedness} and that Shaddai {should do wrong}.
whom he poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior,
What's more, God truly does not act wickedly, and Shaddai does not pervert justice.
And now I tell you, keep away from these men, and leave them alone, because if this plan or this matter is from people, it will be overthrown.
Now many signs and wonders were being performed among the people through the hands of the apostles. And they were all together in Solomon's Portico.
