Your eyes [are] too pure to see evil, and you are not able to look at wrongdoing. Why do you look at the treacherous? [Why] are you silent when the wicked swallows up [someone] more righteous than him?
"Why are not times kept by Shaddai, and [why] do not [those who] know him see his days?
For look, they lie in wait for my life. The mighty attack against me, not [because of] my transgression or my sin, O Yahweh. Without guilt on my part they run and ready themselves. Awake to meet me and see.
Why, O God, have you rejected [us] forever? [Why] does your anger smoke against the sheep of your pasture?
set free among the dead, like [the] slain lying in [the] grave, whom you no longer remember, even those cut off from your hand.
"{Think} now, who has perished [who is] innocent? Or where [are] the upright destroyed?
And his disciples asked him, saying, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he should be born blind?" Jesus replied, "Neither this man sinned nor his parents, but [it happened] so that the works of God could be revealed in him.
"Yet you say, 'The way of the Lord is not fair!' Listen, now, house of Israel, is my way not fair? [Is it] not your ways [that] are not fair?
Then his wife said to him, "Are you still persisting in your blamelessness? {Curse} God and die." So he said to her, "You speak like one of the foolish women speaks. Indeed, should we receive the good from God, but not receive the evil?" In all this, Job did not sin with his lips.
"But he [is] {alone}, and who can dissuade him? And {whatever he desires}, {indeed}, he does [it]. For he will carry out {what he appoints for me}, and many [things] like these [are] with him Therefore, I am horrified because of his presence; [when] I consider, I tremble because of him.
"Shall a faultfinder contend with Shaddai? Anyone who argues with God must answer it."
because I envied the boastful [when] I saw [the] well-being of [the] wicked.
Then he said, "Naked I came out from my mother's womb, and naked I will return there. Yahweh gives, and Yahweh takes. Let Yahweh's name be blessed."
And to the human beings he said, 'Look, the fear of the Lord [is] wisdom, and to depart from evil [is] understanding.'"
What's more, God truly does not act wickedly, and Shaddai does not pervert justice.
"Look, God [is] exalted, and we do not know [him]; the number of his years is unsearchable.
"Teach us what we should say to him; we cannot draw up our case because of [the] presence of darkness.
"Look, I am insignificant. What shall I answer you? I lay my hand on my mouth.
And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but are not able to kill the soul, but instead be afraid of the one who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Far be it from you to do such a thing as this, to kill [the] righteous with [the] wicked, that the righteous would be as the wicked! Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do justice?"
Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved. But you, O God, you will bring them down to [the] pit of corruption. [The] men of bloodshed and deceit will not live half their days, but I will trust you.
{And then} during those many days, the king of Egypt died, and the {Israelites} groaned because of the work, and they cried out, and their cry for help because of the work went up to God.
{When} I fear, I trust you. God, whose word I praise, God I trust; I do not fear. What can [mere] flesh do to me?
But as for me, I will sing [of] your strength, and I will hail your loyal love in the morning, because you have been my [high] stronghold and a refuge in my {time} of trouble.
Only for God wait in silence, O my soul, because my hope [is] from him.
Let them be ashamed and abashed who seek my life. Let them be repulsed and humiliated [who] desire my harm.
Then they cried out to Yahweh in their trouble. He delivered them from their distresses
{If it is so}, our God, whom we serve, is able to rescue us from the furnace of blazing fire. And from your hand, O king, let him rescue us. And if not, let it be known to you, O king, that {we will not serve your gods}, and the statue of gold that you have set up we will not worship."
Though the fig tree [does] not blossom, nor there be fruit on the vines; the yield of [the] olive tree fails, and the cultivated fields do not yield food; [the] flock is cut off from the animal pen, and there is no cattle in the stalls, Yet I will rejoice in Yahweh; I will exult in the God of my salvation.
who [when he] was reviled, did not revile in return; [when] suffering, he did not threaten, but entrusted [himself] to the one who judges justly,
So then also those who suffer according to the will of God must entrust their souls to a faithful Creator in doing good.
casting all your cares on him, because {he cares} for you.
for he [who] {avenges bloodshed} remembers them. He does not forget the distressed cry of [the] afflicted.
and God saw the {Israelites}, and God took notice.
For Yahweh saw that the misery of Israel was very bitter, whether bond or free, but there was no helper for Israel.
Behold, the eye of Yahweh [is] on those who fear him, on those who hope for his loyal love to deliver their soul from death and to keep them alive in famine.
Behold, the wages that were held back by you from the workers who reap your fields cry out, and the cries of the reapers have come to the ears of the Lord of hosts.
Yahweh tests [the] righteous, but [the] wicked and [the] lover of violence his soul hates.
Therefore prophesy against the land of Israel, and you must say to the mountains and to the hills, to the river channels and to the valleys, thus says the Lord Yahweh: "Look! I spoke in my passion and in my anger [the] insult of [the] peoples you have endured." Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: "{I swear} {certainly} [that] the nations {that are all around you}, they indeed will endure their disgrace.
Woe to [him who] obtains profit [from] evil gain for his house, to set his nest on high, to be saved from the hand of misfortune!
Then Yahweh returned Job's fortune when he prayed to him on behalf of his friends. Thus Yahweh increased {all that Job had twice as much as before}. So all his brothers and all his sisters and all [those who] had known him {before} came to him, and they ate bread with him in his house and showed sympathy to him and comforted him for all the disaster that Yahweh had brought upon him. Then each one gave to him one piece of money, and each one [gave to him] one ornamental ring of gold. So Yahweh blessed Job's latter days more than his beginning. {Thus he had} fourteen thousand sheep and goats and six thousand camels and a thousand pair of oxen and a thousand female donkeys.
They will not be hungry [any] longer or be thirsty [any] longer, nor will the sun ever beat down on them, nor any heat,
And he will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death will not exist [any] longer, and mourning or wailing or pain will not exist [any] longer. The former [things] have passed away."
"Then I will approach you for judgment, and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers and against the adulterers, and against those who swear {falsely}, and against the oppressors of [the] hired worker [with his] wages, [the] widow and [the] orphan, and {the abusers of} [the] alien, and [yet] do not fear me," says Yahweh of hosts.
But I myself know that the king of Egypt will not allow you to go {unless compelled by a strong hand}. And I will stretch out my hand, and I will strike Egypt with all of my wonders that I will do in its midst, and {afterward} he will release you.
When I thought about [how] to understand this, it [was] troubling in my eyes until I went into the sanctuary of God. [Then] I understood their fate. Surely you set them on slippery places. You cause them to fall onto ruin.
Thus says Yahweh, "For three transgressions of Damascus and for four I will not revoke [the punishment], because they threshed Gilead with threshing sledges of iron!
Woe to the city [that has shed] {much blood}! {She is a deceiver}, She is filled [with] plunder, {She has hoarded her spoils of war}.
You will be sated with shame rather than glory. Drink also yourself, and expose yourself! The cup of the right hand of Yahweh will come around upon you and disgrace upon your glory.
Then he will also say to those on [his] left, 'Depart from me, [you] accursed ones, into the eternal fire that has been prepared for the devil and his angels! For I was hungry and you did not give me [anything] to eat, I was thirsty and you did not give me [anything] to drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me as a guest, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not care for me.'read more.
Then they will also answer, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison and not serve you?' Then he will answer them, saying, 'Truly I say to you, in as much as you did not do [it] to one of the least of these, you did not do [it] to me.' And these will depart into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."
For judgment [is] merciless to the one who has not practiced mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
And if the righteous are saved with difficulty, {what will become of the ungodly and the sinner}?
Pay back to her as she herself also paid out, and {pay back double} according to her deeds; in the cup that she mixed, mix double for her. As much as she glorified herself and lived in luxury, give to her so much torment and mourning, because in her heart she said, 'I sit as a queen, and am not a widow, and I will never see mourning!'
