'Died' in the Bible
The entire lifetime of Adam was 930 years, and then he died.
The entire lifetime of Seth was 912 years, and then he died.
The entire lifetime of Enosh was 905 years, and then he died.
The entire lifetime of Kenan was 910 years, and then he died.
The entire lifetime of Mahalalel was 895 years, and then he died.
The entire lifetime of Jared was 962 years, and then he died.
The entire lifetime of Methuselah was 969 years, and then he died.
The entire lifetime of Lamech was 777 years, and then he died.
And all living things that moved on the earth died, including the birds, domestic animals, wild animals, all the creatures that swarm over the earth, and all humankind.
Everything on dry land that had the breath of life in its nostrils died.
The entire lifetime of Noah was 950 years, and then he died.
Haran died in the land of his birth, in Ur of the Chaldeans, while his father Terah was still alive.
The lifetime of Terah was 205 years, and he died in Haran.
Then she died in Kiriath Arba (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan. Abraham went to mourn for Sarah and to weep for her.
Then Abraham breathed his last and died at a good old age, an old man who had lived a full life. He joined his ancestors.
Ishmael lived a total of 137 years. He breathed his last and died; then he joined his ancestors.
Isaac reopened the wells that had been dug back in the days of his father Abraham, for the Philistines had stopped them up after Abraham died. Isaac gave these wells the same names his father had given them.
(Deborah, Rebekah's nurse, died and was buried under the oak below Bethel; thus it was named Oak of Weeping.)
So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem).
Then Isaac breathed his last and joined his ancestors. He died an old man who had lived a full life. His sons Esau and Jacob buried him.
When Bela died, Jobab the son of Zerah from Bozrah reigned in his place.
When Jobab died, Husham from the land of the Temanites reigned in his place.
When Husham died, Hadad the son of Bedad, who defeated the Midianites in the land of Moab, reigned in his place; the name of his city was Avith.
When Hadad died, Samlah from Masrekah reigned in his place.
When Samlah died, Shaul from Rehoboth by the River reigned in his place.
When Shaul died, Baal-Hanan the son of Achbor reigned in his place.
When Baal-Hanan the son of Achbor died, Hadad reigned in his place; the name of his city was Pau. His wife's name was Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Me-Zahab.
After some time Judah's wife, the daughter of Shua, died. After Judah was consoled, he left for Timnah to visit his sheepshearers, along with his friend Hirah the Adullamite.
The sons of Judah: Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah (but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan). The sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.
But as for me, when I was returning from Paddan, Rachel died -- to my sorrow -- in the land of Canaan. It happened along the way, some distance from Ephrath. So I buried her there on the way to Ephrath" (that is, Bethlehem).
So they sent word to Joseph, saying, "Your father gave these instructions before he died:
So Joseph died at the age of 110. After they embalmed him, his body was placed in a coffin in Egypt.
and in time Joseph and his brothers and all that generation died.
During that long period of time the king of Egypt died, and the Israelites groaned because of the slave labor. They cried out, and their desperate cry because of their slave labor went up to God.
When the fish that were in the Nile died, the Nile began to stink, so that the Egyptians could not drink water from the Nile. There was blood everywhere in the land of Egypt!
The Lord did as Moses asked -- the frogs died out of the houses, the villages, and the fields.
And the Lord did this on the next day; all the livestock of the Egyptians died, but of the Israelites' livestock not one died.
Pharaoh sent representatives to investigate, and indeed, not even one of the livestock of Israel had died. But Pharaoh's heart remained hard, and he did not release the people.
The Israelites said to them, "If only we had died by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat, when we ate bread to the full, for you have brought us out into this desert to kill this whole assembly with hunger!"
The Levites did what Moses ordered, and that day about three thousand men of the people died.
Moreover, the fat of an animal that has died of natural causes and the fat of an animal torn by beasts may be used for any other purpose, but you must certainly never eat it.
So fire went out from the presence of the Lord and consumed them so that they died before the Lord.
The Lord spoke to Moses after the death of Aaron's two sons when they approached the presence of the Lord and died,
"'Any person who eats an animal that has died of natural causes or an animal torn by beasts, whether a native citizen or a foreigner, must wash his clothes, bathe in water, and be unclean until evening; then he becomes clean.
He must not eat an animal that has died of natural causes or an animal torn by beasts and thus become unclean by it. I am the Lord.
Nadab and Abihu died before the Lord when they offered strange fire before the Lord in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no children. So Eleazar and Ithamar ministered as priests in the presence of Aaron their father.
When the people cried to Moses, he prayed to the Lord, and the fire died out.
And all the Israelites murmured against Moses and Aaron, and the whole congregation said to them, "If only we had died in the land of Egypt, or if only we had perished in this wilderness!
those men who produced the evil report about the land, died by the plague before the Lord.
Now 14,700 people died in the plague, in addition to those who died in the event with Korah.
And whoever touches the body of someone killed with a sword in the open fields, or the body of someone who died of natural causes, or a human bone, or a grave, will be unclean seven days.
Then a ceremonially clean person must take hyssop, dip it in the water, and sprinkle it on the tent, on all its furnishings, and on the people who were there, or on the one who touched a bone, or one killed, or one who died, or a grave.
Then the entire community of Israel entered the wilderness of Zin in the first month, and the people stayed in Kadesh. Miriam died and was buried there.
The people contended with Moses, saying, "If only we had died when our brothers died before the Lord!
And Moses removed Aaron's garments and put them on his son Eleazar. So Aaron died there on the top of the mountain. And Moses and Eleazar came down from the mountain.
So the Lord sent poisonous snakes among the people, and they bit the people; many people of Israel died.
Those that died in the plague were 24,000.
The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them and Korah at the time that company died, when the fire consumed 250 men. So they became a warning.
The descendants of Judah were Er and Onan, but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan.
But Nadab and Abihu died when they offered strange fire before the Lord.
"Our father died in the wilderness, although he was not part of the company of those that gathered themselves together against the Lord in the company of Korah; but he died for his own sin, and he had no sons.
Aaron the priest ascended Mount Hor at the command of the Lord, and he died there in the fortieth year after the Israelites had come out of the land of Egypt on the first day of the fifth month.
Now Aaron was 123 years old when he died in Mount Hor.
"During those days the Israelites traveled from Beeroth Bene-Yaaqan to Moserah. There Aaron died and was buried, and his son Eleazar became priest in his place.
You will die on the mountain that you ascend and join your deceased ancestors, just as Aaron your brother died on Mount Hor and joined his deceased ancestors,
So Moses, the servant of the Lord, died there in the land of Moab as the Lord had said.
Moses was 120 years old when he died, but his eye was not dull nor had his vitality departed.
After Moses the Lord's servant died, the Lord said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses' assistant:
This is why Joshua had to circumcise them: All the men old enough to fight when they left Egypt died on the journey through the desert after they left Egypt.
Indeed, for forty years the Israelites traveled through the desert until all the men old enough to fight when they left Egypt, the ones who had disobeyed the Lord, died off. For the Lord had sworn a solemn oath to them that he would not let them see the land he had sworn on oath to give them, a land rich in milk and honey.
Twelve thousand men and women died that day, including all the men of Ai.
As they fled from Israel on the slope leading down from Beth Horon, the Lord threw down on them large hailstones from the sky, all the way to Azekah. They died -- in fact, more died from the hailstones than the Israelites killed with the sword.
When Achan son of Zerah disobeyed the command about the city's riches, the entire Israelite community was judged, though only one man had sinned. He most certainly died for his sin!'"
After all this Joshua son of Nun, the Lord's servant, died at the age of one hundred ten.
Eleazar son of Aaron died, and they buried him in Gibeah in the hill country of Ephraim, where his son Phinehas had been assigned land.
After Joshua died, the Israelites asked the Lord, "Who should lead the invasion against the Canaanites and launch the attack?"
Adoni-Bezek said, "Seventy kings, with thumbs and big toes cut off, used to lick up food scraps under my table. God has repaid me for what I did to them." They brought him to Jerusalem, where he died.
Joshua son of Nun, the Lord's servant, died at the age of one hundred ten.
When a leader died, the next generation would again act more wickedly than the previous one. They would follow after other gods, worshiping them and bowing down to them. They did not give up their practices or their stubborn ways.
So I will no longer remove before them any of the nations that Joshua left unconquered when he died.
The land had rest for forty years; then Othniel son of Kenaz died.
Now Barak chased the chariots and the army all the way to Harosheth Haggoyim. Sisera's whole army died by the edge of the sword; not even one survived!
Then Jael wife of Heber took a tent peg in one hand and a hammer in the other. She crept up on him, drove the tent peg through his temple into the ground while he was asleep from exhaustion, and he died.
Gideon son of Joash died at a very old age and was buried in the tomb of his father Joash located in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.
After Gideon died, the Israelites again prostituted themselves to the Baals. They made Baal-Berith their god.
So each of his men also cut off a branch and followed Abimelech. They put the branches against the stronghold and set fire to it. All the people of the Tower of Shechem died -- about a thousand men and women.
He quickly called to the young man who carried his weapons, "Draw your sword and kill me, so they will not say, 'A woman killed him.'" So the young man stabbed him and he died.
He led Israel for twenty-three years, then died and was buried in Shamir.
After two months she returned to her father, and he did to her as he had vowed. She died a virgin. Her tragic death gave rise to a custom in Israel.
Jephthah led Israel for six years; then he died and was buried in his city in Gilead.
Then Elon the Zebulunite died and was buried in Aijalon in the land of Zebulun.
Then Abdon son of Hillel the Pirathonite died and was buried in Pirathon in the land of Ephraim, in the hill country of the Amalekites.
The leaders of Gibeah attacked me and at night surrounded the house where I was staying. They wanted to kill me; instead they abused my concubine so badly that she died.
Sometime later Naomi's husband Elimelech died, so she and her two sons were left alone.
Then Naomi's two sons, Mahlon and Kilion, also died. So the woman was left all alone -- bereaved of her two children as well as her husband!
When he mentioned the ark of God, Eli fell backward from his chair beside the gate. He broke his neck and died, for he was old and heavy. He had judged Israel for forty years.
Until the day he died Samuel did not see Saul again. Samuel did, however, mourn for Saul, but the Lord regretted that he had made Saul king over Israel.
Samuel died, and all Israel assembled and mourned him. They buried him at his home in Ramah. Then David left and went down to the desert of Paran.
