'Inscription' in the Bible
They also made a plate, the holy diadem, out of pure gold, and wrote on it an inscription like the engraving on a seal: HOLY TO THE LORD
The king called out to bring in the mediums, Chaldeans, and astrologers. He said to these wise men of Babylon, "Whoever reads this inscription and gives me its interpretation will be clothed in purple, have a gold chain around his neck, and have the third highest position in the kingdom."
So all the king's wise men came in, but none could read the inscription or make known its interpretation to him.
Now the wise men and mediums were brought before me to read this inscription and make its interpretation known to me, but they could not give its interpretation.
However, I have heard about you that you can give interpretations and solve problems. Therefore, if you can read this inscription and give me its interpretation, you will be clothed in purple, have a gold chain around your neck, and have the third highest position in the kingdom."
Then Daniel answered the king, "You may keep your gifts, and give your rewards to someone else; however, I will read the inscription for the king and make the interpretation known to him.
"Therefore, the hand that wrote this inscription was sent from his presence.
This is the written inscription: MENE, MENE, TEKEL AND PARSIN
Notice the stone I have set before Joshua; on [that] one stone are seven eyes. I will engrave an inscription on it"-the declaration of the Lord of Hosts-"and I will take away the guilt of this land in a single day.
On that day the bells of the horses will bear the inscription "Holy to the Lord." The cooking pots in the Lord's temple will be as holy as the bowls in front of the altar.
"Whose image and inscription is this?" He asked them.
So they brought one. "Whose image and inscription is this?" He asked them. "Caesar's," they said.
The inscription of the charge written against Him was THE KING OF THE JEWS
"Show Me a denarius. Whose image and inscription does it have?" "Caesar's," they said.
An inscription was above Him: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS
Pilate also had a sign lettered and put on the cross. The inscription was: JESUS THE NAZARENE THE KING OF THE JEWS
Many Jews read this inscription, because the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city. It was written in Hebrew, Latin, and Greek.
For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.
Nevertheless, God's solid foundation stands firm, having this inscription: The Lord knows those who are His, and Everyone who names the name of the Lord must turn away from unrighteousness.
Also he compels all [alike], both small and great, both the rich and the poor, both free and slave, to be marked with an inscription [ stamped] on their right hands or on their foreheads,
So that no one will have power to buy or sell unless he bears the stamp (mark, inscription), [that is] the name of the beast or the number of his name.
Then another angel, a third, followed them, saying with a mighty voice, Whoever pays homage to the beast and his statue and permits the [beast's] stamp (mark, inscription) to be put on his forehead or on his hand,
