In the visions of God He brought me into the land of Israel and set me on a very high mountain, and on it to the south there was a structure like a city.
“And when you divide by lot the land for inheritance, you shall offer an allotment to the Lord, a holy portion of the land; the length shall be the length of 25,000 cubits, and the width shall be 20,000. It shall be holy within all its boundary round about.
It shall be the holy portion of the land; it shall be for the priests, the ministers of the sanctuary, who come near to minister to the Lord, and it shall be a place for their houses and a holy place for the sanctuary.
“The prince shall have land on either side of the holy allotment and the property of the city, adjacent to the holy allotment and the property of the city, on the west side toward the west and on the east side toward the east, and in length comparable to one of the portions, from the west border to the east border.
This shall be his land for a possession in Israel; so My princes shall no longer oppress My people, but they shall give the rest of the land to the house of Israel according to their tribes.”
“All the people of the land shall give to this offering for the prince in Israel.
On that day the prince shall provide for himself and all the people of the land a bull for a sin offering.
The people of the land shall also worship at the doorway of that gate before the Lord on the sabbaths and on the new moons.
But when the people of the land come before the Lord at the appointed feasts, he who enters by way of the north gate to worship shall go out by way of the south gate. And he who enters by way of the south gate shall go out by way of the north gate. No one shall return by way of the gate by which he entered but shall go straight out.
Thus says the Lord God, “This shall be the boundary by which you shall divide the land for an inheritance among the twelve tribes of Israel; Joseph shall have two portions.
You shall divide it for an inheritance, each one equally with the other; for I swore to give it to your forefathers, and this land shall fall to you as an inheritance.
“This shall be the boundary of the land: on the north side, from the Great Sea by the way of Hethlon, to the entrance of Zedad;
“The east side, from between Hauran, Damascus, Gilead and the land of Israel, shall be the Jordan; from the north border to the eastern sea you shall measure. This is the east side.
“So you shall divide this land among yourselves according to the tribes of Israel.
It shall be an allotment to them from the allotment of the land, a most holy place, by the border of the Levites.
Moreover, they shall not sell or exchange any of it, or alienate this choice portion of land; for it is holy to the Lord.
This is the land which you shall divide by lot to the tribes of Israel for an inheritance, and these are their several portions,” declares the Lord God.
The Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, along with some of the vessels of the house of God; and he brought them to the land of Shinar, to the house of his god, and he brought the vessels into the treasury of his god.
Then Darius the king wrote to all the peoples, nations and men of every language who were living in all the land: “May your peace abound!
Out of one of them came forth a rather small horn which grew exceedingly great toward the south, toward the east, and toward the Beautiful Land.
Moreover, we have not listened to Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our kings, our princes, our fathers and all the people of the land.
“And now, O Lord our God, who have brought Your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand and have made a name for Yourself, as it is this day—we have sinned, we have been wicked.
Then the latter will enter the realm of the king of the South, but will return to his own land.
But he who comes against him will do as he pleases, and no one will be able to withstand him; he will also stay for a time in the Beautiful Land, with destruction in his hand.
So he will turn his face toward the fortresses of his own land, but he will stumble and fall and be found no more.
Then he will return to his land with much plunder; but his heart will be set against the holy covenant, and he will take action and then return to his own land.
He will take action against the strongest of fortresses with the help of a foreign god; he will give great honor to those who acknowledge him and will cause them to rule over the many, and will parcel out land for a price.
He will also enter the Beautiful Land, and many countries will fall; but these will be rescued out of his hand: Edom, Moab and the foremost of the sons of Ammon.
Then he will stretch out his hand against other countries, and the land of Egypt will not escape.
When the Lord first spoke through Hosea, the Lord said to Hosea, “Go, take to yourself a wife of harlotry and have children of harlotry; for the land commits flagrant harlotry, forsaking the Lord.”
And the sons of Judah and the sons of Israel will be gathered together,And they will appoint for themselves one leader,And they will go up from the land,For great will be the day of Jezreel.
Or I will strip her nakedAnd expose her as on the day when she was born.I will also make her like a wilderness,Make her like desert landAnd slay her with thirst.
“Then I will give her her vineyards from there,And the valley of Achor as a door of hope. And she will sing there as in the days of her youth,As in the day when she came up from the land of Egypt.
“In that day I will also make a covenant for themWith the beasts of the field,The birds of the skyAnd the creeping things of the ground. And I will abolish the bow, the sword and war from the land,And will make them lie down in safety.
“I will sow her for Myself in the land.I will also have compassion on her who had not obtained compassion,And I will say to those who were not My people,‘You are My people!’And they will say, ‘You are my God!’”
Listen to the word of the Lord, O sons of Israel,For the Lord has a case against the inhabitants of the land,Because there is no faithfulness or kindnessOr knowledge of God in the land.
Therefore the land mourns,And everyone who lives in it languishesAlong with the beasts of the field and the birds of the sky,And also the fish of the sea disappear.
They have dealt treacherously against the Lord,For they have borne illegitimate children. Now the new moon will devour them with their land.
They turn, but not upward,They are like a deceitful bow;Their princes will fall by the swordBecause of the insolence of their tongue. This will be their derision in the land of Egypt.
They will not remain in the Lord’s land,But Ephraim will return to Egypt,And in Assyria they will eat unclean food.
Israel is a luxuriant vine;He produces fruit for himself. The more his fruit,The more altars he made; The richer his land,The better he made the sacred pillars.
They will not return to the land of Egypt; But Assyria—he will be their kingBecause they refused to return to Me.
They will come trembling like birds from EgyptAnd like doves from the land of Assyria; And I will settle them in their houses, declares the Lord.
But I have been the Lord your God since the land of Egypt;I will make you live in tents again,As in the days of the appointed festival.
Now Jacob fled to the land of Aram,And Israel worked for a wife,And for a wife he kept sheep.
Yet I have been the Lord your GodSince the land of Egypt; And you were not to know any god except Me,For there is no savior besides Me.
I cared for you in the wilderness,In the land of drought.
Hear this, O elders,And listen, all inhabitants of the land.Has anything like this happened in your daysOr in your fathers’ days?
For a nation has invaded my land,Mighty and without number; Its teeth are the teeth of a lion,And it has the fangs of a lioness.
The field is ruined,The land mourns; For the grain is ruined,The new wine dries up,Fresh oil fails.
Consecrate a fast,Proclaim a solemn assembly;Gather the eldersAnd all the inhabitants of the landTo the house of the Lord your God,And cry out to the Lord.
Blow a trumpet in Zion,And sound an alarm on My holy mountain!Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble,For the day of the Lord is coming;Surely it is near,
A fire consumes before themAnd behind them a flame burns. The land is like the garden of Eden before themBut a desolate wilderness behind them,And nothing at all escapes them.
Then the Lord will be zealous for His landAnd will have pity on His people.
“But I will remove the northern army far from you,And I will drive it into a parched and desolate land,And its vanguard into the eastern sea,And its rear guard into the western sea.And its stench will arise and its foul smell will come up,For it has done great things.”
Do not fear, O land, rejoice and be glad,For the Lord has done great things.
I will gather all the nationsAnd bring them down to the valley of Jehoshaphat. Then I will enter into judgment with them thereOn behalf of My people and My inheritance, Israel,Whom they have scattered among the nations; And they have divided up My land.
Egypt will become a waste,And Edom will become a desolate wilderness,Because of the violence done to the sons of Judah,In whose land they have shed innocent blood.
“It was I who brought you up from the land of Egypt,And I led you in the wilderness forty yearsThat you might take possession of the land of the Amorite.
Hear this word which the Lord has spoken against you, sons of Israel, against the entire family which He brought up from the land of Egypt:
Proclaim on the citadels in Ashdod and on the citadels in the land of Egypt and say, “Assemble yourselves on the mountains of Samaria and see the great tumults within her and the oppressions in her midst.
Therefore, thus says the Lord God,“An enemy, even one surrounding the land,Will pull down your strength from youAnd your citadels will be looted.”
She has fallen, she will not rise again—The virgin Israel. She lies neglected on her land; There is none to raise her up.
And it came about, when it had finished eating the vegetation of the land, that I said,“Lord God, please pardon! How can Jacob stand,For he is small?”
Thus the Lord God showed me, and behold, the Lord God was calling to contend with them by fire, and it consumed the great deep and began to consume the farm land.
Then Amaziah, the priest of Bethel, sent word to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, “Amos has conspired against you in the midst of the house of Israel; the land is unable to endure all his words.
For thus Amos says, ‘Jeroboam will die by the sword and Israel will certainly go from its land into exile.’”
Then Amaziah said to Amos, “Go, you seer, flee away to the land of Judah and there eat bread and there do your prophesying!
Therefore, thus says the Lord, ‘Your wife will become a harlot in the city, your sons and your daughters will fall by the sword, your land will be parceled up by a measuring line and you yourself will die upon unclean soil. Moreover, Israel will certainly go from its land into exile.’”
Hear this, you who trample the needy, to do away with the humble of the land,
“Because of this will not the land quakeAnd everyone who dwells in it mourn?Indeed, all of it will rise up like the Nile,And it will be tossed aboutAnd subside like the Nile of Egypt.
“Behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord God,“When I will send a famine on the land,Not a famine for bread or a thirst for water,But rather for hearing the words of the Lord.
The Lord God of hosts,The One who touches the land so that it melts,And all those who dwell in it mourn,And all of it rises up like the NileAnd subsides like the Nile of Egypt;
“Are you not as the sons of Ethiopia to Me,O sons of Israel?” declares the Lord.“Have I not brought up Israel from the land of Egypt,And the Philistines from Caphtor and the Arameans from Kir?
“I will also plant them on their land,And they will not again be rooted out from their landWhich I have given them,”Says the Lord your God.
He said to them, “I am a Hebrew, and I fear the Lord God of heaven who made the sea and the dry land.”
However, the men rowed desperately to return to land but they could not, for the sea was becoming even stormier against them.
Then the Lord commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah up onto the dry land.
This One will be our peace. When the Assyrian invades our land,When he tramples on our citadels,Then we will raise against himSeven shepherds and eight leaders of men.
They will shepherd the land of Assyria with the sword,The land of Nimrod at its entrances; And He will deliver us from the AssyrianWhen he attacks our landAnd when he tramples our territory.
“I will also cut off the cities of your landAnd tear down all your fortifications.
“Indeed, I brought you up from the land of EgyptAnd ransomed you from the house of slavery,And I sent before you Moses, Aaron and Miriam.
The godly person has perished from the land,And there is no upright person among men.All of them lie in wait for bloodshed; Each of them hunts the other with a net.
“As in the days when you came out from the land of Egypt,I will show you miracles.”
“Behold, I am against you,” declares the Lord of hosts. “I will burn up her chariots in smoke, a sword will devour your young lions; I will cut off your prey from the land, and no longer will the voice of your messengers be heard.”
Behold, your people are women in your midst! The gates of your land are opened wide to your enemies;Fire consumes your gate bars.
“Because you have looted many nations,All the remainder of the peoples will loot you—Because of human bloodshed and violence done to the land,To the town and all its inhabitants.
“For the violence done to Lebanon will overwhelm you,And the devastation of its beasts by which you terrified them,Because of human bloodshed and violence done to the land,To the town and all its inhabitants.
I saw the tents of Cushan under distress,The tent curtains of the land of Midian were trembling.
Woe to the inhabitants of the seacoast,The nation of the Cherethites! The word of the Lord is against you,O Canaan, land of the Philistines; And I will destroy youSo that there will be no inhabitant.
I called for a drought on the land, on the mountains, on the grain, on the new wine, on the oil, on what the ground produces, on men, on cattle, and on all the labor of your hands.”
But now take courage, Zerubbabel,’ declares the Lord, ‘take courage also, Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and all you people of the land take courage,’ declares the Lord, ‘and work; for I am with you,’ declares the Lord of hosts.
For thus says the Lord of hosts, ‘Once more in a little while, I am going to shake the heavens and the earth, the sea also and the dry land.
I said, “What are these coming to do?” And he said, “These are the horns which have scattered Judah so that no man lifts up his head; but these craftsmen have come to terrify them, to throw down the horns of the nations who have lifted up their horns against the land of Judah in order to scatter it.”
“Ho there! Flee from the land of the north,” declares the Lord, “for I have dispersed you as the four winds of the heavens,” declares the Lord.
The Lord will possess Judah as His portion in the holy land, and will again choose Jerusalem.
For behold, the stone that I have set before Joshua; on one stone are seven eyes. Behold, I will engrave an inscription on it,’ declares the Lord of hosts, ‘and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.
Then he said to me, “This is the curse that is going forth over the face of the whole land; surely everyone who steals will be purged away according to the writing on one side, and everyone who swears will be purged away according to the writing on the other side.
I said, “What is it?” And he said, “This is the ephah going forth.” Again he said, “This is their appearance in all the land
Then he said to me, “To build a temple for her in the land of Shinar; and when it is prepared, she will be set there on her own pedestal.”
