'Waves' in the Bible
For the waves of death engulfed me;the torrents of destruction terrified me.
He alone stretches out the heavensand treads on the waves of the sea.
when I declared: “You may come this far, but no farther;your proud waves stop here”?
You silence the roar of the seas,the roar of their waves,and the tumult of the nations.
Your wrath weighs heavily on me;You have overwhelmed me with all Your waves.Selah
You rule the raging sea;when its waves surge, You still them.
The floods have lifted up, Lord,the floods have lifted up their voice;the floods lift up their pounding waves.
He spoke and raised a tempestthat stirred up the waves of the sea.
He stilled the storm to a murmur,and the waves of the sea were hushed.
They rejoiced when the waves grew quiet.Then He guided them to the harbor they longed for.
If only you had paid attention to My commands.Then your peace would have been like a river,and your righteousness like the waves of the sea.
For I am Yahweh your Godwho stirs up the sea so that its waves roar—His name is Yahweh of Hosts.
Do you not fear Me?This is the Lord’s declaration.Do you not tremble before Me,the One who set the sand as the boundary of the sea,an enduring barrier that it cannot cross?The waves surge, but they cannot prevail.They roar but cannot pass over it.
This is what the Lord says:The One who gives the sun for light by day,the fixed order of moon and stars for light by night,who stirs up the sea and makes its waves roar—Yahweh of Hosts is His name:
The sea has risen over Babylon;she is covered with its turbulent waves.
For the Lord is going to devastate Babylon;He will silence her mighty voice.Their waves roar like abundant waters;the tumult of their voice resounds,
therefore this is what the Lord God says: See, I am against you, Tyre! I will raise up many nations against you, just as the sea raises its waves.
The mountains see You and shudder;a downpour of water sweeps by.The deep roars with its voiceand lifts its waves high.
Yahweh will pass through the sea of distressand strike the waves of the sea;all the depths of the Nile will dry up.The pride of Assyria will be brought down,and the scepter of Egypt will come to an end.
Suddenly, a violent storm arose on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves. But He was sleeping.
But the boat was already over a mile from land, battered by the waves, because the wind was against them.
A fierce windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking over the boat, so that the boat was already being swamped.
They came and woke Him up, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to die!” Then He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waves. So they ceased, and there was a calm.
He said to them, “Where is your faith?”They were fearful and amazed, asking one another, “Who can this be? He commands even the winds and the waves, and they obey Him!”
“Then there will be signs in the sun, moon, and stars; and there will be anguish on the earth among nations bewildered by the roaring sea and waves.
But they struck a sandbar and ran the ship aground. The bow jammed fast and remained immovable, while the stern began to break up by the pounding of the waves.
Then we will no longer be little children, tossed by the waves and blown around by every wind of teaching, by human cunning with cleverness in the techniques of deceit.
wild waves of the sea, foaming up their shameful deeds; wandering stars for whom the blackness of darkness is reserved forever!
