'Generation' in the Bible
"You have heard that it was said to an older generation, 'Do not murder,' and 'whoever murders will be subjected to judgment.'
"Again, you have heard that it was said to an older generation, 'Do not break an oath, but fulfill your vows to the Lord.'
"To what should I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces who call out to one another,
But he answered them, "An evil and adulterous generation asks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.
The people of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented when Jonah preached to them -- and now, something greater than Jonah is here!
