'Rain' in the Bible
No shrub of the field had yet grown on the land, and no plant of the field had yet sprouted, for the Lord God had not made it rain on the land, and there was no man to work the ground.
Seven days from now I will make it rain on the earth 40 days and 40 nights, and I will wipe off from the face of the earth every living thing I have made.”
The sources of the watery depths and the floodgates of the sky were closed, and the rain from the sky stopped.
Tomorrow at this time I will rain down the worst hail that has ever occurred in Egypt from the day it was founded until now.

I will provide rain for your land in the proper time, the autumn and spring rains, and you will harvest your grain, new wine, and oil.
Then the Lord’s anger will burn against you. He will close the sky, and there will be no rain; the land will not yield its produce, and you will perish quickly from the good land the Lord is giving you.
The Lord will open for you His abundant storehouse, the sky, to give your land rain in its season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations, but you will not borrow.
The Lord will turn the rain of your land into falling dust; it will descend on you from the sky until you are destroyed.
Let my teaching fall like rainand my word settle like dew,like gentle rain on new grassand showers on tender plants.
Lord, when You came from Seir,when You marched from the fields of Edom,the earth trembled,the heavens poured rain,and the clouds poured water.

Now Elijah the Tishbite, from the Gilead settlers, said to Ahab, “As the Lord God of Israel lives, I stand before Him, and there will be no dew or rain during these years except by my command!”
After a while, the wadi dried up because there had been no rain in the land.
for this is what the Lord God of Israel says, ‘The flour jar will not become empty and the oil jug will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain on the surface of the land.”
After a long time, the word of the Lord came to Elijah in the third year: “Go and present yourself to Ahab. I will send rain on the surface of the land.”
On the seventh time, he reported, “There’s a cloud as small as a man’s hand coming from the sea.”Then Elijah said, “Go and tell Ahab, ‘Get your chariot ready and go down so the rain doesn’t stop you.’”
For the Lord says, ‘You will not see wind or rain, but the wadi will be filled with water, and you will drink—you and your cattle and your animals.’

when He established a limit for the rainand a path for the lightning,
They waited for me as for the rainand opened their mouths as for spring showers.
For He makes waterdrops evaporate;they distill the rain into its mist,
Who cuts a channel for the flooding rainor clears the way for lightning,
to bring rain on an uninhabited land,on a desert with no human life,
Does the rain have a father?Who fathered the drops of dew?
He will rain burning coals and sulfur on the wicked;a scorching wind will be their portion.
the earth trembled and the skies poured down rainbefore God, the God of Sinai,before God, the God of Israel.

If the clouds are full, they will pour out rain on the earth;whether a tree falls to the south or the north,the place where the tree falls, there it will lie.
before the sun and the light are darkened,and the moon and the stars,and the clouds return after the rain;
For now the winter is past;the rain has ended and gone away.
and there will be a booth for shade from heat by day, and a refuge and shelter from storm and rain.
I will make it a wasteland.It will not be pruned or weeded;thorns and briers will grow up.I will also give orders to the cloudsthat rain should not fall on it.
For, the Lord said to me:I will quietly look out from My place,like shimmering heat in sunshine,like a rain cloud in harvest heat.
For You have been a stronghold for the poor,a stronghold for the needy person in his distress,a refuge from the rain, a shade from the heat.When the breath of the violentis like rain against a wall,
Then He will send rain for your seed that you have sown in the ground, and the food, the produce of the ground, will be rich and plentiful. On that day your cattle will graze in open pastures.
And the Lord will make the splendor of His voice heardand reveal His arm striking in angry wrathand a flame of consuming fire,in driving rain, a torrent, and hailstones.
Each will be like a shelter from the wind,a refuge from the rain,like streams of water in a dry landand the shade of a massive rock in an arid land.
He cuts down cedars for his use,or he takes a cypress or an oak.He lets it grow strong among the trees of the forest.He plants a laurel, and the rain makes it grow.
For just as rain and snow fall from heavenand do not return therewithout saturating the earthand making it germinate and sprout,and providing seed to sowand food to eat,
This is why the showers haven’t come—why there has been no spring rain.You have the brazen look of a prostituteand refuse to be ashamed.
They have not said to themselves,‘Let’s fear the Lord our God,who gives the rain, both early and late, in its season,who guarantees to us the fixed weeks of the harvest.’
When He thunders,the waters in the heavens are in turmoil,and He causes the clouds to risefrom the ends of the earth.He makes lightning for the rainand brings the wind from His storehouses.
The ground is crackedsince no rain has fallen on the land.The farmers are ashamed;they cover their heads.
Can any of the worthless idols of the nations bring rain?Or can the skies alone give showers?Are You not the Lord our God?We therefore put our hope in You,for You have done all these things.
When He thunders,the waters in the heavens are in turmoil,and He causes the cloudsto rise from the ends of the earth.He makes lightning for the rainand brings the wind from His storehouses.
therefore, tell those who plaster it that it will fall. Torrential rain will come, and I will send hailstones plunging down, and a windstorm will be released.
“So this is what the Lord God says: I will release a windstorm in My wrath. Torrential rain will come in My anger, and hailstones will fall in destructive fury.
“Son of man, say to her: You are a land that has not been cleansed, that has not received rain in the day of indignation.
I will execute judgment on him with plague and bloodshed. I will pour out torrential rain, hailstones, fire, and brimstone on him, as well as his troops and the many peoples who are with him.
Let us strive to know the Lord.His appearance is as sure as the dawn.He will come to us like the rain,like the spring showers that water the land.
Sow righteousness for yourselvesand reap faithful love;break up your unplowed ground.It is time to seek the Lorduntil He comes and sends righteousnesson you like the rain.
Children of Zion, rejoice and be gladin the Lord your God,because He gives you the autumn rainfor your vindication.He sends showers for you,both autumn and spring rain as before.
I also withheld the rain from youwhile there were still three months until harvest.I sent rain on one citybut no rain on another.One field received rainwhile a field with no rain withered.
Ask the Lord for rainin the season of spring rain.The Lord makes the rain clouds,and He will give them showers of rainand crops in the field for everyone.
Should any of the families of the earth not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of Hosts, rain will not fall on them.
And if the people of Egypt will not go up and enter, then rain will not fall on them; this will be the plague the Lord inflicts on the nations who do not go up to celebrate the Festival of Booths.
so that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. For He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
The rain fell, the rivers rose, and the winds blew and pounded that house. Yet it didn’t collapse, because its foundation was on the rock.

although He did not leave Himself without a witness, since He did what is good by giving you rain from heaven and fruitful seasons and satisfying your hearts with food and happiness.”
The local people showed us extraordinary kindness, for they lit a fire and took us all in, since it was raining and cold.
For ground that has drunk the rain that has often fallen on it and that produces vegetation useful to those it is cultivated for receives a blessing from God.
Elijah was a man with a nature like ours; yet he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the land.
Then he prayed again, and the sky gave rain and the land produced its fruit.
These men have the power to close up the sky so that it does not rain during the days of their prophecy. They also have power over the waters to turn them into blood and to strike the earth with every plague whenever they want.
